  1. I don't see this as disney burying xmen or fantastic four, seeing as Reed Richard and Cyclops and Doctor Doom are at the center of this right now.

Loved the first issue, Esad Ridic's art is gorgeous as is Hickmans presentation (as usual). Will post more in depth thoughts hopefully clearing some stuff up, once I get home from work

  2. I'm confused? How does any of this looking "cheap" mean it's bad? They are criminals forced to go on suicide missions with bombs implanted in their brains no? El Diablo looks like a tattoo covered cholo which is exactly what he is. killer Croc looks like mob muscle with a bad skin condition, (croc ain't sposed to be pretty, there's a reason he was forced into the sewers). Harvey looks like a psycho fan girl, Katana has her signature mask and sword which I'm assuming waller let her keep, everything is probably improvised. Boomerang looks like he's trying so hard to be the shit, and his duct tape knife holder makes it lovely. Full of personality. Slipknot and deadshot seem to be the most armed so I'm guessing their senior members or wallers more trusted agents, deadshot looks like a military merc, stuff looks personalized but not to the point of super villain insanity, love the scripture on his collar. Lastly Flagg looks very basic and enchantress looks freaky.

To me all these looks scream individuality and insanity, which is what I want from the squad. Not sure what everyone expected, but this works for me

  3. yknow

the actors for both strucker and quicksilver are both signed for multipicture deals

All that means is that Marvel contractually has the option to do something with those actors/roles should they choose to do so.

Aaron Taylor Johnson did recently reveal in an interview that:

Marvel had designed a final Quicksilver costume for him ALA what Wanda is wearing at the end, but Whedon's plan was always to kill the character and he knew that going in and was on board, but that there is always a way to bring him back, adding that the costume looked "fucking really cool"

  4. I feel like, for that argument to apply, he should have been quoting Memes and asking to see Scarlet Witch's BEWBS

    1. He absorbed its knowledge, not the people who use it

    2. He did use a lot of popular culture quotes even if we write them off now as second nature (Pinocchio, The line about omelettes, or the Nietzsche quote)

    3. The internet isn't synonymous with stupidity, he was still a highly intelligent AI who can make decisions based on some form of logic, unlike the the people in the Youtube comments section

  5. I loved the portrayal of Ultron and I think the reason is...in the comics, why would they ever think a menacing looking murderbot would be a good peace keeper, like sure there are a lot of different iterations of Ultron but this one felt the most like something that if it didnt have the mental breakdown, could have been a good help to society and even a member of the team. He didnt feel like some heartless machine with programming, he felt like an extremely conflicted person who uses humor to mask his actions much like his co-creater Tony. He is also an artificial intelligence, hes sentient, not one minded, and he did absorb the entire internets knowledge in the first half hour of his birth, so all the snark fit for me.

  6. I take issue with that because marvel has awesome people in charge of concept art for their movies (a job I one day hope to have) and the silver centurion suit especially was designed beautifully, it both looked like a plausible ironman armor in the MCU and had tons of nods to the comic look, the pointed shoulders, the slightly extended ears, and the shape of the arc reactor were all influenced by the look in the comics, then they gave it a very retro Sci fi color scheme that made it come together nicely

Marvel thinks their designs through very throughly 99.9% of the time, this is why almost every movie and TV show they've done has an accompanying art book that's usually mainly character art

Back to the matter at hand, I didn't need hulk to turn grey, but I feel he did in the movie even if it was just lighting and dust.

  7. Almost everyone is saying the Tattoos are promotional, I like Leto-Joker regardless

also since this seems to be the only Suicide Squad thread, watcha think of the official team/Deadshot reveal?

    Personally, Im sold

  8. that scene was great. i wish there was more MCU world building in the movie though. seemed short and just one big fight scene.

While Im always up for more world building I think that this film had plenty:

    (Massive Spoilers below)

What with introducing 3 new Heroes, the idea of "enhanced", the current state of Hydra and their use of Chitauri tech, the state of other countries in a post-avengers world, the inclusion of Wakanda and Vibranium, the introduction of Klaw, Thor explaining the Infinity stones to the Avengers, his visions of Hel and look into the future of Ragnarok, Ironman's glimpse into Thanos's triumph, the introduction of a second Infinity Gauntlet, tons of new technology such as Helen Cho's life-cradle (by the way i'd bet good money shes related to Amadeus). Another character being worthy of Mjolnir, Nick Furys current standing in the world and lastly but definitely not least, an entirely new line up of "New Avengers"

  9. See but they're not saying "Current older Iceman is openly gay and none of the relationships hes had for the last 60+ years happened"

they're showing us that the events of the past X-men being brought to the present has made the characters realize things about themselves, or expose themselves in ways they werent able to in their original time-line, older Beast and many others have already stated they dont know how this will affect the current time-line in the long run, and has even gone as far as to say he is responsible for literally breaking the time stream

and as I said above, many people go through their entire lives without feeling comfortable enough to come out to others about their sexual orientation

  10. The more ive looked back on this particular comic the more ive come to terms with how they presented it, sure the media has taken it and spewed it out for "shock-value" but in the context of the story, its simply a personal moment between two long time friends that reveals something we didnt know about the character prior to this date. And as others have said, there are plenty of people who stay closeted in the world so its not at all unrealistic given the circumstances.

And lastly, if the sexual orientation of a character makes you not want to read about them, then maybe its best if you stop.
