a quick Firestar as an X-Man minimate... not entirely accurate, but it's close enough for me.

Whatever you guys do, don't heckle DST for releasing it. We need to encourage it so that more wacky 2-packs come out. Even if they are 2-packs of weird characters i don't want.... i'd rather see DST put out a Whizzer/Tigra 2-pack, than more IronMan/Hulk figures.

If I thought a positive reaction to this set would actually encourage DST to make others I wouldn't be critical of it. I think this is all about finding an excuse to make these particular characters at this particular time though.

and what if it is? who cares? they're both being featured right now. some people in house wanted to make them. i want to buy them. i don't understand why this conversation is still happening. would i have preferred a lot of other characters over Disco Daz and Howard? sure. i'm i still going to buy them? sure. does it eliminate the possibly of another character i want being made? maybe. who knows? entire waves go to movies and i don't throw a fit, even though i don't (generally) buy movie waves. if dst replaced every movie wave ever made and filled them with caps and spideys and wolvies and hulks and just 1 new character each wave, that's a LOT of new characters we would have got. i should be raising hell. but i'm not. just move on already.

i would love an 'evil' animated Morph face. and an update Indian Forge with bandanna. a Cecilia with glasses? what about a non-screaming Banshee face where he's just kinda chill, or smirking maybe? zombie heroes would be cool, as well as a zombie Mystique.

but wait... what about those of us who bought the sets the first time around?

i would be happy with her, also. would she take an AXIS slot, then? Enchantress and Zenpool? i'd get it.

one's been guessed. who do we think it is? i still think Wasp or Mockingbird.

who cares if they're a listers or not? they're two characters that people are happy to have. should some characters maybe have been released before them? sure. does the fact that we're getting Howard and Disco Dazzler mean we'll never get those characters? probably not. just be happy we're still getting minimates at all and quit complaining.

I like the classic Mockingbird look, but I never even knew about the character until she returned in Secret Invasion, so I'd prefer her updated look over the classic. I'd settle for either, tho. and I'd really like a Tigra, too, but I'm pretty burnt out on Hawkeye, I have both of the previous Wonder Man mates, and is the Jim Rhodes Iron Man much different from any other Iron Man, aside from who is inside the suit?

I think youbastards meant it would be weird to update an old costume Spider-Woman is no longer wearing just to pop a Skrull head on it. and if we get a new Spider-Woman, I'd really like to see her new costume.

oooooooh but wait!

didn't Mockingbird come back in Secret Wars?? I'd actually prefer her over an update Wasp, tho both would be great. Mockingbird is in her old costume when they all come out of the little spaceship, so maybe we'd get Classic and Modern versions

the black and gold suit is what I had in mind, too. that's what she wore during Secret Invasion, right? I can't really think of who else we would get from a specific Secret Invasion set?

I'm not really feeling any of the new X-Men looks, and considering how often they've changed, i would rather we get some more classic looks or the most recent Uncanny X-Men versions of Cyclops, Emma, Magneto and Magik... but now that that series has ended, i doubt we'll see their looks.

I bought a Walgreen's set. I'm torn on these. They are pretty nice, but I don't think I need an animated parallel line of Marvel Minimates. They're too different aesthetically from the comic mates. Maybe I will just get the Spider-Mens. And unique characters if any. TIME WILL TELL.

i don't think they're too different asthetically, at all. Star-Lord, Rocket and Groot fit in perfectly on my GotG display. and Spider-Man 2099 and Agent Venom blend right in. I passed on the other two sets, though, because I generally only display one version of a character at a time (except for the X-Men; I have 10 different X-displays, so lots of characters show up more than once). also, i compared the old and new versions of the 2099 and Agent, and I like these new ones better. which makes me glad that i didn't cough up big bucks to get the originals considering i don't have them.

i actually just saw wave 1.5... i guess they are a little cartoony. i'll probably still get the Venom set just for his bulked up pieces to add to my best of Venom, but pass on the rest.

i'm not super familiar with Abomination, but that looks pretty good.

are there any minimates that are in hospital garbs? i thought maybe a Rick Grimes, but i'm not seeing one.

True, unmade characters are more likely to debut at LCS, because they're theoretically more obscure and therefore a harder sell, but there might be unmade characters who suddenly rise to prominence, or new characters who get a really big push, or even themed waves that allow us to finally work in some of the big names we missed.

Spider Gwen may not count as new (Gwen Stacy X Spider-Man), but she'll be at TRU.

I'm more team new character as well but every now and then an outfit demands a redo. Look at Capt. Carol! Also, just tell me what I have to do to get my Crystal and Medusa Inhumans and I"m set.

considering the push that Marvel has implimented on the Inhumans, i'm really surprised that we haven't seen more of the characters if even just a new Black Bolt. hopefully now that there are two books with the word INHUMAN in them, not to mention the Kornak solo, we'll start to see a few of these characters pop up. i'd be bummed if they waited until the movie was released, and then only did movie versions like the did with GOTG.

if the walgreens website is showing that a particular store has them, but you don't see them, i'd def ask someone to check for you. the guy that helped me on Saturday, aside from being super dreamy, was very helpful and spent about 10 minutes digging in the back for me before he found them. he did mention that the toy section was being reset, so unless your local store has already done so, they're probably not on display yet. but from what he told me, their system said they had 4 in stock. i don't think he meant 4 cases, i think he meant 4 sets. so if someone comes along after you do and snatches them up, you're probably out of luck (at that particular store).

when does 1.5 come out? and can someone remind me who's in it?

believe me, cutting down the back of the mask was not my go to. i tried using my finger nails (which are not long), a thumb tack, a paper clip... nothing worked because the head would just pop off the peg. i did discover on Star-Lord, tho, that the head hole for the peg goes all the way thru. holding on to the very edge of his mask, i was able to slip a paper clip up thru the hole and pop it off of the head. this did not work for Iron Man, though.

i picked these up from the Walgreens in Portland, Or on Caeser Chavez. the cutest guy helped me find them. he had to go in the back and check twice, and after we'd given up hope and i had just finished paying for something else, he came back to the front with a small, unopened brown box. inside there was one of each set. after the first time he'd come out, he looked on the computer and mentioned it said they had four instock. i wonder if it was the four sets, or 4 boxes of 4 sets. if it's the first, and you're looking for these two, try the Walgreens on 82nd. their site says they're instock (but shows the Spider-Man/Green Goblin pic online, still). i'd be surprised if the stores only got one of each each, but then again it's Walgreens, not exactly the first store you think of to go buy some new action figures.

i'm really happy with both these sets. Star-Lord was easily my least favorite from the GotG movie set, so i think the animated version is a much better mate. plus, i prefer comic over movie mates, anyway, so the GotG movie mates are the only ones i display due to a (previous) lack of other options. i decided to use animated Groot and Rocket for my Guardians display, too. and i missed out on the original Spider-Man 2099 and Agent Venom, so I'm happy to add them both to my collect. remind me... who is in wave 1.5? i know there's a bulked up Venom, which i'm excited about... and Crossbones, who I would be excited about if I hadn't just scored the original a month or two back.. but that's all i got.

the one downside was Star-Lords helmet. just like with Superior Iron Man, i couldn't get it off. but i knew i wanted to display him without the helmet, anyway, i cut it down the middle of the back to get it off. i don't usually have many complaints with minimates, and i love collecting them, but the slip on masks being stuck seems to be a pretty consistent issue with the last few waves. hopefully it gets figured out with future waves. never seemed to be a problem before.

i think the belt is just to small. i've taken it off and bent it down, but it just doesn't fit on the piece.

i love this new Apocalypse. i picked him up today, along with Sabes. almost grabbed all four, but decided to save the other two sets for a rainy day. Pocy is probably my fave new mate in recent history. he's so imposing.

i'm also having a hard time getting Iron Man's helmet off. i can't remember... warm water, or freezer?

i doubt Walgreens will sell out as there are so many (where i live, anyway) stores scattered about. so you should be fine, CBMM1.

Inhumans, maybe? Marvel has been trying to push them... I'll admit I'm not super familiar with the team and haven't been reading any of the new stuff, but we could get...
