Let's hope that's correct - I'm getting tired of waiting for BSG Wave 2 and ST Wave 1
-
I think it is healthy for the minimate brand to branch out like this. Clint Eastwood is a great choice, and I love the concept art so far.
I'm wondering if we'll see some of Eastwood's other characters (besides the westerns)... Dirty Harry would be fun - can you say Minimates with a 44 magnum?
Gunnery Sgt Eastwood from Heartbreak ridge in combat fatigues would also be pretty cool.
Do you feel lucky?
-
I was looking at Toy Fair 2007 pics and saw some BSG mates in series 3 that aren't announced and that I hadn't seen before, so I thought I'd share - I hate to see these end as prototypes. Let's hope for BSG wave 4 with Cally & Gaeta (pictured) and others
-
www.shopafx.com has series two listed with no release date. Mates that haven't been released yet all have dates and all of the others that have been released are missing the date like the BSG 2's.
AFX changed the release to to "will ship in 1-2 weeks" when DST updated the availability date on their site to 7/25.
AFX hasn't changed or updated that estimate, even when DST changed the date to 8/8.
My AFX pre-order shows nothing for Order Status when I look at my account and orders.
I'm wondering if everything is being delayed to build some hype at the two conventions before cutting these loose to the retail and internet channels
-
anyone know if this is still good? if so I am going as soon as I get a reply! I just started getting the blanks and they are keen.
I'm not sure if it's good, but about a month into the giveaway, Target blew out all their Minimates on clearance. I was buying them for $1.25 (75% OFF) at about the time people were starting to get their promo mates back. If I had to guess that was almost 2 months ago.
I think you're going to have a hard time finding any of the minimates you need to qualify.
-
Dante, you should get the bsg minimates they are pretty cool, plus you get a minimate of six with her boobs :o
I agree they are so cool. I really like the pilots. see how cool they are at: http://www.minimatedatabase.com/line.php?i=23
Nice thing about the pilots.... with the helmets, you can get other human looking heads and start building some extras.

I "heard rumors" that part of the reason for the delays.. especially for the Avengers wave (which DST wanted to have for SDCC) was that there was a QC Issue with the Avengers wave that was spotted Very late in the production cycle, we're talking as far along as the minimates were packed in their boxes, so it was caught literally at the last minute. so that would probably mean a re-running of that wave which would possibly explain the delays to the other waves.
Of course the real answers are only known by DST, Chuck or Matt if you're reading this care to comment?- you know we'll only ask you in the next Q&A anyway
T.
That would explain the Avengers wave ... but what about the Ghost Rider wave and the special Target Spider-man wave?
Last word I heard from someone who went to SDCC was that Target Minimates were off the board - it sounded like Target lost interest in the line. but that DST was shopping a new retail channel since they had already invested a lot of energy into the plan and didn't want to dump the series entirely. Check out the forums for someone who heard the DST presentation -

I'm as frustrated as everyone else. I preordered BSG wave 2 and ST wave 1 because the LCS's around here are so hit and miss. At the rate we're going, if we don't get a minimates fix soon, I think we're all going to appear on Intervention.

Obviously, the prospect a bringing a unique item to market, such as a MMMV exlusive, has a lot of financial concerns and drgnbrn316 makes a great argument to that effect, especially since it would be a relatively small quantity.
Here's a thought though.... what if you took parts overruns from existing lines to create a character that's not offered....
Here's an oversimplified example... if we were to take BSG for instance...
Use the head & hair from Wave 3, pilot Helo and the body from Col. Tigh to create First Officer Helo. Package it in a baggy like the SDCC and Toyfare exclusives to keep the costs down.
By using components from existing figures you reduce the design and tooling costs and if you can obtain overrun parts, then the actual, original product run goes a long way to drive costs down. When you're already producing thousands.... an extra thousand won't add up to much with figures this size.
Licensing may be an issue - I don't know how that would work.
How about cross lines exclusive BSG Captain Marty McFly or Admiral Jack Bauer (I know, I know - big license issues)
Just a thought

Yep! I just checked Diamond Comics shipping list for Aug 08/07 and "NADA", no BSG wave 2. Hope it at least shows up on the west coast.
P.S: How often does DST release dates match up with Diamond's shipping list? Ever?
This update seemed to happen overnight or very early today. ANy chance that it missed the list?

Funny thing is... I saw the BSG wave 1 on sale at Big Bad Toy Store but not with the chase figure (which still shows pre-order) - I'm assuming it's some kind of error
BSG wave 1 came out maybe 3 months ago. are you saying you never got it? Because my LCS never got theirs either I had to get it at Suncoast. I really hope they get wave 2, and I really hope it is tomorrow!
My bad - I meant wave 2
-
Interesting, strange that I haven't been contacted. I've been waiting for these.
I've been watching these on the DST website since I've got sets of both BSG and ST pre-ordered as well.

Did anyone notice that DST updated their release date on BSG Wave 2 to 8/8/2007?
Np change for ST wave 1 though
-
I just saw Wave 2 IN STOCK (Not pre-order) at Big Bad Toy Store but they're only showing the 3 regular sets. The 4 set (3 + chase) is still pre-order only

Curious?

That's good news.
It really would have sucked to have another unique exclusive like the Toyfare Starbuck to try and hunt down on eBay.
I got enough Cylons... I can live without this one.
As it is, I know one retailer who still has the single-pack modern cylons from the first waves. If I ever need a Cylon fix, all I need to do is pick one up.
Now back to waiting for my pre-order series 2
-
I'm always happy to have an opportunity to get any ST or BSG minimates that comes up.... I especially like the minimates because I can collect both BSG and ST for a lot less $$$ than the big figures.
What I'd really like to see is more focus on different characters, than a lot of the same character in different outfits.
I'd definitely buy a Romulan, Andorian, Tellarite, Sarek, Yoeman Rand, Nurse Chapel or even the big-headed Keeper before I'd get No-brain Spock, Battle-damaged Kirk or Bread-n-Circuses Kirk.
I think the alternate uniform/costume figure should be the chase figures so those of us who aren't into them can opt out and still complete a full crew set (like they did with Dress Uniform McCoy).
-
I have mixed feelings about a SDCC BSG exclusive...
Don't get me wrong. I have a long list of BSG mates that I'd like to see, that aren't in Waves 1, 2 or 3.
But I really hate when you can't buy the exclusives from the distributor and have to try and get one from eBay without paying way too much, as is the case with the Starbuck Toyfaire exclusive.
-
Nothing in my area and I've got a couple of good Comic stores nearby that get this stuff pretty regularly.
Nothing on the internet retailers
and nothing on the most reliable gauge.... eBay!.
I hate waiting.

Well, I'm pretty new here and was just getting to take time to look around. I'm a new minimates collector that was spurred to look for info about BSG minimates and was looking forward to all the other products like Star Trek & Back to the Future that are coming soon. - it's been a really fun place with lots of talented and devoted people and I'm sorry to see it go before I really got to participate.
Thanks to you guys, I got to get in on the AA/DST Target Minimates giveaway.
Well, since BSG brought me here - I'll close on that note.
Oh Frak! Hate to see you go.
Regards,

I'm still waiting as well. I'd give it till the end of the month at least. Plus you never know with our trusty USPS service.
Looks like the packages are slowing down. It's not looking good
FInally got mine today - it was a white Free Comic Book Day 2005 mini.
My son's came too.... he mailed it almost 2 weeks after mine. It was a 2005 Wizard World Boston.
I was hopin' to get the exclusive Starbuck.... but free is free.
Thanks AA/DST!

Very nice indeed, though I question the logic of painting a starfighter black, wouldn't that be kinda dangerous? Of course there was the Blackbird, it was black, but then it was a stealth ship, so....
...is there a Titanium Blackbird? 'Cause if there is, now I really want it.
The Blackbird would be a nice add, so would the cylon heavy raider, base star and the resurrection ship. I'd even like to see some of the regular nameless fleet ships

I think the Pegaus movie is still coming out(Fall 2007) before season 4 bows(2008). I'm going with the David Eick blog(after all he is a producer). But it's all up to Sci-Fi channel, whether they want to do a fifth season.
Lets hope the extra-long BSG Season 4 will allow for a couple of extra waves of minimates before it folds. There's plenty of characters I'd still like to see after Wave 3. (And no more BSG exclusives, thank you).

AFX just sent me an e-mail that my pre-order BSG wave 2 set (w/ chase) had been processed and is shipping soon.
Perhaps this is good news
