  1. I'd have to say that of all the titles from the Poll, Ghostbusters would be the most interesting. Though I like Ferris Bueller & The Untouchables, and Top Gun was OK - I think Ghostbusters has the most minimate potential.

I imagine the packs would have to be molded into a large chest piece, and the Buffalo Bill goggles could be a slightly re-tooled for Ray. The PKE meter and ghost traps would be simple and appropriate accessories. Sadly, the one ultimate accesory that we would never see is the Ecto1.

The good news is that the 4 ghostbusters would be little more than slight variations of the same body & paint app, with different naetags, heads & hair.

I think 2 box sets would actually be a great fit for this license:

Set 1: Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, Louis Tully, Gozer (who wouldn't like to see a Gozer mate?)

Set 2: Dr. Peter Venkman, Winston Zeddmore, Dana Barrett, Janine Melnitz,

Then I'd like to see a 2-pk exclusive like Slimer w/ slimed Peter Venkman

I think Slimer might be accomplished by crossing the blob-ish sculting/style of Clayface, with some type of translucent base like Sandman or the Human Torch that mates into the bottom of the torso.

  2. The last couple weeks of BSG have been pretty good episodes. I'm excited about

    the cylon alliance angle

, especially since I think it will

    meltdown

    .

So far, I'm not too interested in the direction things are going with

    Athena's daughter, Hera

. I was hoping that was over.

    The death of

    Cally

    was interesting, but with

    Gaeta's injury and amputation

, I'm thinking that people are gonna start

    dying

    so they can

    thin out the main characters

for the finale. It wouldn't surprise me if

    the amputation diminshes Gaeta's role

, and we see bad things happen to

Zarek, Dualla and some of the secondary characters

as things come to a close. Don't get me wrong, I like

    Gaeta and Dualla

and hope they stick around, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're history.

  3. Thanks again for indulging our neurotic addiction to Minimates and putting out some really cool characters. The Back to the Future, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek and the Westerns have been great likenesses.

    1. Most of the Comic Book stores I go to will only order sets from the comic book licenses and the FYE/SUncoast stores seem to carry a sporadic assortment of comic and non-comic product. Are you having issues hitting a good retail channel that is interested in non-comic product and what are your challenges getting Back to the Future, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek & the Clint Eastwood sets and the other, non-comic licenses into the market?

    2. I've been waiting on the Good, Bad & Ugly set. Are those still planned? (You told us we needed to get those to keep you from lookin' bad.... I'm doing my part)

    3. You've got some great movie tie-in product (Iron Man, Hulk, Spiderman 3). It would seem that releasing them closer to the movies' release dates would leverage the movie hype to your benefit (better retail interest and sales overall). What are your challenges (if any) coordinating product release with the movie release?

    4. (Non-minimate question) What's the deal with the ST: Series 5 action figure set? At last check, the release date has been pushed back almost a year?

    Thanks again

  4. I agree with you captain cbecker, the BTTF line did die on the table as of late. I mean come on DST.... Detention Marty McFly?! Why would that MM even be considered as a fourth pack-in in the BTTF 3 set? I really think that Clara Clayton would have been a more ideal choice. As for the old Biff / Marty 2-pack, Griff Tannen, with hover board would have been a head & shoulders choice over red t-shirt Marty. Just my opinion.

Yeah - I'm a little on Marty overload, when so many unique characters have been left out. I would suspect that DST thinks that Marty has to be in a set to make it marketable.

If it were my call, I'd have changed the existing sets as follows:

    BTTF 1 Box: No changes

BTTF.com Exclusive: Ok as is, but George & Lorraine may have been better together in the enchantment set

BTTF 2 Box: Swap 50's Marty (w/ hat) with Jennifer

BTTF 2 PX: Replace George (Move to BTTF.com set) and add Griff Tannen w/ Bulldog Hoverboard w/ 50's (Hat) Marty

BTTF 3 Box: Swap Suspenders Marty with Clara

BTTF 3 PX: Marshall Strickland & Future (Cane) Biff

I think I would have found better replacements for Suspenders Marty, Red Shirt Marty and 50's Marty.

  5. I'm a little disappointed about the boots... but I like these BTTF sets a whole lot. My set from SciFigenre.com is on its way and I can't wait.

I really wish there was something to look forward to.... this is such a great license with a lot of cool potential, and it seems to have died on the table.

I'd like the following box sets:

Hill Valley of the Present with Rad suit Marty & Doc, Jennifer and Principal Strickland

Hill Valley of the future w/ older Marty, Marty's Daughter and future George (hovering upside down) and Griff Tannen

Old West Hill Valley w/ Clara, Clock-picture Doc & Marty and Marshall Strickland

  6. So, knowing that BSG will be showing 11 episodes in '08, and 11 in '09, it seems like our BSG 'mates may continue to have life in them since the series is still on the air for another year (which is the ONLY positive I can derive from the way that SciFi drags these seasons out).

    Cylons:

    "Natalie" Six

    Tory

    Anders

    Cavil

    Leoben

    Doral

Simon (least interested in him, but I guess we might as well have 'em all)

    Humans:

    Ellen Tigh

    Billy Kekaya

    Diana Seelix

    Crashdown

    Hot Dog

    Racetrack

But yeah - I gotta have a Natalie Six, a Tory, an Anders & A Leoben. Throw in Ellen Tigh, and I'm pretty happy.

These are all pretty cool, but I'd also like to see an eye-patch Tigh, civilian Apollo and a colonial marine

  7. WWE has recently released figures in the 3.75" scale (Build N' Brawlers). The first wave of them each came with a part of the ring (4 with connecting tiles, 1 with ropes and 1 with turnbuckles).

It looks like the ring here is way too small for that scale, and probably too small for MiniMates, too, but I could be wrong:

    Article w/ pictures from TNI.

The WWE Build n Brawlers won't work for the minimates.

    1. The height pf the ring ropes is too high (the top rope would exceed the height of the minimates.

    2. The ring is on the very small side for the 3.75" figures. I think it would still be small (with adjusted height ropes) for the minimates. The ring surface ends up being 6-7" square. It's also not ring-like, in so much as it only sets about 1/2 off the ground.

About the best recommendation is to buy the figure that comes with the rope set and custom build the ring, posts and turnbuckles

  8. I'm not sure about this one... I liked the cartoon when I was younger, but I just couldn't imagine it translating well into a 2-hour, live action film.

Regrettably. I think the GI Joe movie is going to have the same issues. Taking a 20-minute, animated toy commercial and turning into a 2-hour, live-action film seems to be a recipe for failure.

  9. Aw man now I wish I took a time machine to go back in time and buy this stupid set. I spent an hour online looking for it and it quickly disappeared from webshops to ebay.

I'm running into this quandery now, Anyone have any ideas on where to track one of these down?

I haven't seen them at any of the usual internet stores for quite a while, and the last set I saw on eBay was at $40+ and was a couple days from end of auction.

  10. Hadn't thought about the voting in that way, but yeah that'd work too... I know they've had some Cylon deaths in the show that were out of range of resurrection ships, I guess I always assumed that if a copy actually full-on died, it would be replaced with a completely fresh copy -- though your way makes more sense now that I think about the Sharon and Six living on Galactica, who must not have voted.

I actually really like the way Cylon society has been shown in such an alien way on the show, especially when Baltar was living on the base ship and it was all just so "hazy"...

    Friday's was good -- I think they're pulling off

Baltar's cult much better than I thought they would from the teaser last season, although the thing with his imaginary Six flopping him around like a puppet was a bit silly for me...

Yeah, the Baltar thing and how it's influencing

    Tory & Tyrol

is pretty interesting. It seems that the cylon theology

is resonating with Baltar's cult which may make them sympathetic to the cylons.

Im glad that they are looking a little closer into

the breakdown of command on the Demitrius and Starbuck's diminishing grasp on reality

    . I can't wait to see

    how the mutiny resolves itself

    , and if the

colonials take sides in the cylon war

    - speaking of which, I wish they'd get back to that.

  11. Yeah, I think they even still have Spider-Man Maxi-Mate up for presale. I'm sure the 24 stuff will get canceled, but I'm hoping beyond hope that the BTTF 3 box comes out, even if it is delayed.

Except DST, almost everyone I frequently look at (Scifigenre.com, AFX, BBTS, Stuckakid) all still have 24 Season 3 sets still on presell.

It sounds like BTTF 3 is on it's way. The BTTF.com guy started running Pre-sale auctions for Series 3 boxset on eBay this week...

  12. Any word on BTTF series 3? Stuckakid has this Wednesday as an expected release date. Did this set get iced like 24 series 3?

    Official date is next week....

I think they had them in packaging for NYCC.... I'm pretty sure they're still on

bttf.com have these up on ebay *except's large bag with dollar sign on it from bttf.com* :ermm: lol

i'm guessing they got their's early

Perhaps they've got them from the future? Actually their available 'after May 7th' 'if the manufacturer delivers' ;)

After the endless string of delays with the BTTF exclusive set, I'm surprised that he's posting pre-order auctions on eBay.

We haven't heard from Kirby in a while... he's usually the source on items that might hit the West Coast a week early... there's a chance they might start showing up this week. It seems like forever since we've had a good minimate fix.

I know 6/15 is going to be crazy if all those mates actually hit on schedule.

  13. The thing with all the copies, is that that's how they've built their society -- thousands of (potentially) individual versions of the 7 models, spread across a fleet of base ships. We know they're potentially individual because their experiences can change them, like the sleeper Sharon

switching sides on the recent vote

or Caprica Sharon joining Galactica, etc. When one of them is killed their consciousness is transmitted to a resurrection ship and inserted into a new body, so the number of each model out there always remains consistent, which is how they could stalemate on votes (at least with the Xena Cylon away in stasis).

I'm not sure that the stalemate necessarily implies that there is always a static quantity. The Cylons seem to vote as a collective, and each model, regardless of quantity, is allocated 1 vote. In the case of season 4,

Sharon tipping the scales with her vote (that differed from the rest of the number eights) was not as much about total numbers, as much as it was that the it upset the balance and gave one side a symbolic majority by persuading her to break from "party lines".

I also think that, given the destruction of the resurrection ship in Season 2 and the fact that there is a limit on the effective range of the resurrection ship, that its possible that there have been personalities that were lost at some point. SInce there is no real information on how spontaneous new personalities are created, that it's premature to say that there is always a static quantity.

The final 5 don't have new bodies waiting around on a regular resurrection ship because their identities are supposed to be a secret from the other Cylons for some reason. But they could in theory have their own resurrection ship lurking around somewhere, or a ship full of final 5 copies -- but probably not. They seem to have been designed for a different purpose than the regular 7 Cylons (so aren't part of their 'society'), by whoever/whatever built and programmed the human Cylons in the first place.

I also think the final 5 are unique... and not subject to regeneration, at least not like the other 7. That being said, I think their origins may be more closely tied to the anachronistic Cylons that were encountered in Razor.

Friday's episode was another good one...
