  1. Wait, wait. Did Brickarms change the name of their figure after this article was published, or was The Sun simply wrong?

All I see in regards to the minifigure in question on the website is this:

    Mr. White

That's, uh, not necessarily Mr. Bin Laden. And how many kids play with Brickarms toys? Aren't these mostly for adult Lego collectors?

...and what's wrong with Nazis? EVERYBODY hates Nazis. And, they're not even called Nazis on the website. :nono: I'm sorry, maybe I'm terribly biased, as I love Brickarms. But this just seems ridiculous.

I think the name Osama Bin Lego was some reporter-hack being semi facetious-inflamatory

  2. I remember seeing this discussion someplace in the Multiverse... about cool Lego weapons from BrickArms.com.

Unfortunately, it looks like the whining, P.C. patsies and the evil forces of activism have set their sights on Brickarms and their cool Lego arsenal.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,461647,00.html

That being said, I'd have to argue that the BrickArms people do not characterize their cool little Bandit dudes as Islamic or Muslims... and I'm gonna refrain from further pontificating before I get myself in trouble.

Let's hope that this bad press doesn't deter the BrickArms people from doing doing what they do best.... Arming Lego People at reasonable prices.

  3. Given the holiday - and since it's the 25th anniversary of Christmas Story this year.... I was just thinking that A Christmas Story minimates would certainly be a fun set..

    How about this boxset:

Ralphie (in normal school clothes) & Red Ryder BB Gun

Randy (in the maroon Michellin man snow outfit)

    Mom & soap bar

The Old Man & The Leg lamp & Fra-gee-lay crate

    And this Exclusive 2-pk:

    Ralphie in the bunny suit

Winter clothes flick with interchangeable tongue-attached-to-a-flagpole head

  4. why is dst being vague about future waves of trek i'm getting worried we should have heard something by now, they are selling well right???

I was wondering the same thing. About a week or two ago during AFX's sale they had going on, they had it for like 12 or 13 bucks. For them to cut the price so soon afer hey were released would tell me they aren't selling as well... :(

I think that worrying is a little premature at this point.

First: DST has been far from consistent when rolling out news about future waves of many of the licenses -

For Example: the BSG Razor set and the razor loose assortment were announced a long time ago, then nothing for months... then all of a sudden 2 more series and a box set.

Second: DST has been showing Star Trek a lot of love lately - STII Phaser, Tricorders, Tribbles, Full Size Figures Ultimate Quarter Scale Spock & Kirk, Ships - I don't think the franchise is going anywhere in DST's eyes.

Third: DST has a lot of minimate irons in the fire, not to mention the other lines. Given that Marvel 23-26, BSG 5 & 6, BSG New Caprica Set, Punisher, Secret Invasion, Spirit & T2 are all out there it's concievable that there are plenty of projects to keep them busy in the immediate term. Second, they may want to have some fresh ammo for Toyfair which is a few short months away, and some new Trek mates would serve well in that capacity.

  5. Well Mighty Muggs collectors - if anyone is looking to pick up the Indy set, I was at Target this weekend and noticed that they are all on 50% clearance (That's $5.50 each from the original $10.99) for Indy, Mola Ram and the Cairo Sword Guy.

I couldn't resist Mola Ram and his flaming heart accessory for that price.

  6. In the last few days we've had a Cornerstorecomics & BigBadToyStore thread so I thought I'd air my views about AFX here in an AFX thread. Check out their latest Marvel Minimates offerings http://www.actionfigurexpress.com/mami.html

Bobble-heads for free ?? Note the new price hike!

I think, if we've determined anything, it's that AFX makes their money somehow.... and it's usually outrageous shipping during these so-called sales and giveaways.

Didn't someone post a Minimates-eBay listing in the flea market where AFX was selling the Web Armor Spiderman exclusive, but the shipping was nearly $8.

We went through this during one of their last sales too.... I've stopped buying there becasue they don't seem 100% above board - I go to SciFigenre.com or BBTS now. SciFigenre ships priority mail (which is lots less than AFX's UPS ground) and BBTS gives you better control of preorders (if you want to cancel) and still has good pricing on the 4 x 2-pack sets (they don't rip you head off for the variant).

  7. WOW! :ermm: I had no idea...... REALLY?

    Really.

The AA Q & A confirmed that there has been little interest - though that isn't the first time we've heard that.... DST Matt or Chuck hinted that it was seriously in jeopardy in on the the MMMV Q&A's.

I'm really kinda disappointed myself - these really had some great characters and potential

  8. 5 Best:

    1. Straight jacket Hannibal Lecter - An unforgetable, signature look

    2. Any Razor Cylon - great use of some new parts to make these spot-on likenesses

    3. Wrath of Khan Kirk - Khaaaaan!

    4. BTTF 1 Doc Brown - Great Scott - another very well executed likeness

    5. The man with no name (Fistful of dollars) - Clint Eastwood - what else needs to be said

    Honorable mentions:

Muffit the Daggit - for outstanding execution of a non-biped mate

The Meat (Rocky 1) - honorable mention for a non-minimate, minimate

Chef Duff - Frosting gun - 'nuf said

BSG Red Dress Six - lots of sexy in a convenient 2" package

    5 Worst:

    1. Smart Hulk - nothing smart about dressing like Herman Munster

    2. MA Hunkel - Fat old woman who fights crime with a pot on her head - what next, a spinach eating sailor with super human strength and a speech impediment

    3. SM3 1/2 masked Spiderman - 3 words: $h!t eating grin

    4. Lady Deathstrike - the clapper must not get much use in her house with mitts like that

    5. Red shirt Marty McFly - the worst excuse to fill a package from the BTTF line. We'd have been better off with busboy Goldie Wilson

  9. Can't believe the lack of Madonna love. Just so you guys know, this set SMOKED out of stock faster than you can say Sex, Lies and Videotape.

Matt- If you don't mind me asking, what kind of outlets have been buying these?

Can't believe the lack of Madonna love. Just so you guys know, this set SMOKED out of stock faster than you can say Sex, Lies and Videotape.

So hot slutty blondes sell then, then where's my jenna jameson/tawney Roberts 2-pack!! :)

I've always said Lara Croft the hot, slutty action star with guns would be the way to go. Boobs, tight short-shorts, guns... that's the perfect product mix.

  10. For those who are tryin to scoop up the HTF Dead Pegasus Six Cylon, I found a place that claims they are in stock at the $4.99 price - it is certanly better than the $15+ that they're selling for on eBay. SHipping was only a few bucks.

    http://www.longbox.net/servlet/the-Toys-%2...ates/Categories

I verified that they had them in stock before ordering one for myself, but they've stated that if it's on their page, then it's in stock

  11. I'm very happy to hear that there will be more BSG news soon.... especially rounding out more of the human-cylons. As for the "Final Cylon" - as far as any of us know, we already have that character.

I'm hoping things will turn around for Rocky 3 - it doesn't look good, but it also doesn't look entirely dead and DST is waiting to see if things turn around.

  12. Well hells bells and buckets of blood, where are any new BSG mates. Maybe I was wrong and it really is the end of the line for BSG mates.

I know I have been accused of being too negative lately, but with slipped dates, disappearing waves for non marvel license, you have to wonder of the non comic mates are on the way out? I mean did you check out the poll at mmhq?

Not too encouraging for the anticipation of the movie mates...and that is from the core fans...not being negative just sayin

Minimates have always been heavily skewed toward the comic book characters so it's really no surprise that Iron Man has done so well at the expense of the movie lines.

But since many of us buy more than 1 type of minimate, a popularity poll may not accurately reflect the market or who will buy what minimates. It's not as if every person who voted for Iron Man will only buy that set and leave ST, BSG, DSS, Platoon and others on the shelves. If anything, I think DST is working a more diverse product mix like 1/4 scale and retro nad others and they may not have the capacity to go on some of these licenses as agressively as they once did.

I imagine its all in timing. They pulled the upcoming 24 release due to the show not being on the air at the time. They likely don't want to release another BSG series until the show is back. That being said, they'd have to reveal the line-up in the near future if they intend to strike while the iron is hot though.

As for the MMHQ poll, I have to admit that the numbers are a bit skewed. We have no way of polling which properties you want and which ones you do not, so the numbers are only showing everyone's top choice. A lot more people may want Iron Man right now, but that doesn't mean they don't also want Platoon or (God help us) Desperately Seeking Susan.

Let's hope they can "strike when the Iron is Hot".... They haven't always done a good job of that (Iron Man, Hulk, Ghostrider, SM3)
