  1. I think Jessica Jones is a very likely candidate for being a Skrull, mostly because of what was said in this weeks New Avengers. Subtle, but telling...

Jessica acts all giddy and says "Can I work on figuring it out too?" and Luke just says "You're a Private Eye, you should already been working on this" which gives Jessica a really shocked look... but it's true. All through out Alias she was digging and researching and being a detective... and suddenly she doesn't do that anymore? It's supposed to be in her blood.

That makes me think she's a skrull.

  2. Side rant, but it bugs me that the Advent Children outfits have become the new "iconic" versions of these characters... for me it's still the original game eversions... I like the black skirt and white top with brown boots tifa over the advent children, same thing with blue uniform Cloud as oppose to all black AC version. Bah...

ok, end rant. Nice drawing :D

  3. Man Thing, Man Thing, Man Thing, Man Thing, Man Thing...

With Horrible's line now focusing more on more obscure characters, MT showing up in Legion of Monsters and X-Men First class, and She-Frankenstein, what are the chances of getting an official? This would be my all time favorite. I would cry tears of joy if they did a Man-Thing.

  4. So the first wave of DC's WoW line came out today and they're great! Not very posable, but that's fine... I look at these as plastic statues anyway, I don't need to be able to move them around in too many positions. The only thing thath has me worried is the release date for the next wave... June 2008! That's nearly a year away! I mean, a toyline shouldn't have a year between waves, I'd think...

If I have one complaint about the figures, it's that they're all too dark. One of the draws of WoW is it's slightly cartoony, and VERY vibrant colors. Everything here looks very dark and muted... would prefer something that reflects the actual look and style of the game a bit more.

So I was thinking of embarking on some Warcraft related Minimate Customs..... MY GOD DO MY FINGERS HURT! The biggest issue of course is the scale since so many of the races are known by they're various heights. If anyone has already attempted this, PLEASE share your knowledge. If not, here's what I have so far...

For Taurens and Draenei: This one is fairy simple, just use DC oversized characters like Bane, Braniac and Kilowog. Kilowog works best because he actually has a powerhouse chest.

Orcs, Undead, Blood Elves and Humans: This is also relatively simple, just use the standard size minimate figures.

Dwarves and Gnomes: Ok... this is where your fingers will start to bleed. You have to find a way to make the minimates SHORTER. You can't really customize the upper leg because both ends have important joints, the only thing you can do is mess with the lower leg and feet. For Dwarves, cut the lower leg in half as close to the center as possible. This is easier said than done, because for SOME reason the plastic for legs is insanely hard to cut, and even once you do you're gonna have to do a bit of sanding to get it flat. Doing this should leave enough of a hole to attach a foot to, though you may have to cut the foot peg in half so you don't have excess. For Gnomes, follow the same procedure above, but use Penguin feet, or cut the soles of standard feet down to Penguin size. These are by far the HARDEST to do.

Trolls and Night Elves: These, actually, are pretty cool... you know the half of the leg you cut off for the Dwarves and Gnomes? Well, remove feet and line these "half-leg" pieces with the lower leg of a standard minimate, then use some super glue to attach. Let it dry and become connected. Once that's done, sand down the sides to make it look smooth and reattach feet. Ta-da, you have a taller minimate figure that isn't quite a tall as the Bane, Braniac and Kilowog ones. You can also use this technique for Orcs if you want to make them taller than Humans, although the playable Orcs in the game are the same height as Humans.

This should help you maintain some semblance of scale... though, believe me, you will curse and suck on your fingers more than once during the process of trying to create Gnome and Dwarf feet.

Now, if only we had solution for elf ears, horns, antlers, huge shoulder pads, shields, swords... uuhhh... my head is starting to hurt.

Are Warcraft minimates worth it? Mmm... let's see. I think we should all try to work on these and see what we can come up with! :D

  6. I think we desperately need a new Iron Man (Extremis/New Avengers armor) and a new Doc Ock (More detail, COOL tentacles this time), and probably a new Green Goblin just cause the design of the first one way back in series two is just so goofy and nonthreatening. These are rehashes I wouldn't mind seeing in the main series, they don't need to be in separate box sets.
