  1. Oh man this is sad, I saw the bump and a new thread on DCcomics.com's message boards and I was thinking hey...maybe. Then I've read them and its like seeing an ex-girlfriend with another guy, tore me up. As the economy experts are saying...yes DCD is helping the economy out, by saving me money with their crappy products. Thanks DC Direct!

Brewer --> File DCD minimates with pocket heroes in the toilet.

  2. Ouch, this morning I was really excited for the Spirit. Now after seeing the complete box set and exclusive two pack. I will only be buying them to give hope towards classic blue and keep my minimate collection complete. Boy I wish it wasn't Frank Miller doing the Spirit. This worries me even more so about how the movie will be.

  3. Can we hope that the previews exclusive two pack might be the Will Eisner Spirit? That would be great to have him in his classic blues with all those minimate extras.

Nevermind...after seeing Jeff's link I guess it is more Frank Miller Spirit. I remember at the SDCC panel that there was some hope for comic book accurate Spirit minimates.

  4. I just saw the news: Phoenix, about time! I've been using the Dark Phoenix body with the New X Phoenix's head forever.

Beast is cool too, since I really don't get why we can't go back to that version.

I did the same thing for my Phoenix too. I'm very excited for this minimate to be released. Now I'll just have to paint a white phoenix and I'll have them all...lucky Cyclops!

  5. yea from what I've heard about DCD handling the minimate situation, it seemed like we'll tell you what you want to hear. I talked with a guy at the booth at SDCC on Sunday. It was funny I was dressed at the Spirit, comics version, and he came over, so I asked him about minimates and he told me it was dead, but I could look forward to all the other DCD products. Sure, all out of scale with each other, yea thanks. Then he told me about the upcoming Spirit stuff, so I was like great comics right? Nope only movie stuff. Well at least theres DC Universe Classics from Mattel to look forward to...he didn't like that answer. I haven't purchased a DCD figure in over a year. I used to get those things like no one's business, now they don't have my business.

  6. I heard about the Spirit minimates and they had pics of movie Spirit, movie battle damage Spirit, and movie Spirit in black and white. They look really good and as a Spirit fan I'm very excited to hear that we will be getting comic versions of the Spirit and cast. Can't wait till they work those up. I wonder how they got those since DC has the Spirit as one of their characters. I'm excited.

  7. After WW:Chicago, how interested is DST in obtaining the DC'mates license? I would like to see the line continue and look forward to having both universes in one toy line. Is this something that DST could do as I don't remember seeing any DC products from DST?

    From DST Q & A #8:

If DC Direct drops the ball on DC Minimates is there any chance you guys could/would ride in on your white horse and save the day? I don't know if DCD even considers licensing out like that. Is it something you have discussed with them, by chance?

DSTChuck: That's pretty much 100% up to DC Direct. If they were interested in licensing it we'd of course listen, but we'd also have to look and see if we thought we'd be able to make a profit on the line.

I guess then change my question to has there been any talk between DCD and DST? As an opinion, does DST see DC'mates as profitable?

  8. I hope it is not too soon to ask considering nothing is official. After WW:Chicago, how interested is DST in obtaining the DC'mates license? I would like to see the line continue and look forward to having both universes in one toy line. Is this something that DST could do as I don't remember seeing any DC products from DST? Also, does Marvel Superhero Squad pose as a threat to your toy line? Thanks for the time and the minimates. I'm very glad that I have placed the time and money into this line of figures. I've never once regretted buying Marvel Minimates and from the first day I saw that "leaked" poster of the Marvel'mates I'm still carrying that excitement just the same. Look forward to seeing you all at SDCC. Thank you.

  9. How bad do you think it would be at the next DST Q&A we ask about the possiblity of DC'mates from DST? I'm serious about getting the ball on this rolling. Even if I have to do some serious talking at SDCC. I will do what I can as a fan to make sure we can at least believe in this hope or just once again focus on moving forward.

  10. You know this news really pisses me off. I've been collecting DC Direct products since their first figure release of Wonder Woman. I thought this would be a great line, was bummed at first because of the scale since nothing like that size was around at that time. Then came Marvel Legends and it was a great time. DC Direct and Marvel Legends. DCD finally started getting a little more articulate with their figures. Then the scale shift happened with Alex Ross' Justice series. I stopped getting DCD figures. They are not even compatible with themselves. Then they sucked me back in with the rebirth of DC minimates. Yet once again scale was an issue. Killer Croc vs. Hulk just looks silly since the size issues, but hey at least it was something right? With eight waves and an exclusive the line was very promising. Hell they gave Marvel a shot in the arm and I think that is why we have finally been getting the mates that we have from DST and Marvel. I'm very sorry to see this happen again to DCD mates, but I'm not surprised as this is the usual with DCD. I've half a mind to take my DCD products and leave them at the DCD booth at SDCC and tell them to stop with the half-assing. It is just annoying to get something promising and them have it stop. I still have never had my big 7 classic JLA from DCD. Hopefully mattel with do it.

Thanks DCD for 10 years of headaches.

  11. Man I'm not going to have any money for comics at SDCC, but plenty for mates. Wow that is one B.A. set of mates. I'm so looking forward to getting those and Ironman. Hopefully Avengers will be there too. This lifted my day.
