Lantern Returns

I think the Blue suit should be a variant. I know that is still a cool costume, but the Classic is a figure that can really help new collectors or chase them off. Imagine one of your favorite teams, say classic X-men, gets minimated and you can't get the whole team? That could possibly chase someone away from minimates. Plus for the X-factor set the Angel there will a TRU exclusive, lets keep the hunting down, at least a little.

Luckily I was in Phoenix Saturday and I hit up 3 Toys R Us in the surrounding areas and at the first one their stock was out and Bullseye/Moonstone was missing. At the second one, they had no damn clue, but at least the guy who helped me was a jerk and was then called out to get the shopping carts; that is retail karma. At the last and final one, there it was, only one. Scored at the last chance. I'll keep my eye out at my TRU and if it comes and people are still looking I'll help out. Bullseye is nice. I took off all the pouches and sai holders and he looks great.

Hit up my tru here in Yuma Az and no luck. I did score the two Wolverine Origins exclusives and Wonderman/Union Jack. I don't think they'll be restocking anytime soon. I purchased all of wave 1 of the tru mates, but don't think I can do that again. I hope these move somehow.

So if anyone wants to trade or is looking for "wave 2 or 3" tru mates let me know and I'll mine them for you.

I know what you mean Mystery Man, this was a big buy for me. I was going to buy 4 sets of this. I love the Spirit. I discovered him when I was in college and this is a great character. I own all the DC archives of him and follow the comics too. Sadly the movie lost sight of the character, but at least with that we got minimates which lead to comic minimates. Well with this part of the quote:

" I have to be honest with you, we’ve really struggled to find the buyers for the Spirit comic boxed sets. We’re not giving up but we need to find some more support at retail to make this set happen."

I know when I go to SDCC I will be doing some talking. Maybe I can get Dark Horse to back this set up...

Well this sucks. Its not that AFX turned it down, it is that they need to get DST on with this idea as well, but from everyone's point of view I guess there is no support for a set like this.

After talking with AFX some more on the issue and their advice is to petition Diamond Select Toys. I will write up an e-mail and see what they think, but folks I'll need your help on showing support of these mates.

How would the idea be of sponsoring a box set run of this in the same vein as your previous minimate box sets be? I myself have been collecting minimates since the start of Marvel minimates and have all of them, customs, and all of DC minimates. I have been a fan of Will Eisner's Spirit for quite awhile. As a fan of both Spirit and minimates I had preordered from my local comic shop 4 box sets of the Spirit. That has been my biggest order on one minimate item.

So I come to you AFX and ask, can you please sponsor a box set of comic book Spirit minimates as one of your exclusive sets?

My LCS got both wave 25 and wave 26 in yesterday. Very nice looking mates. It was hard to resist buying some of them at TRU. I hope all works out for you guys!

I call mine Captain Marvel as that is what he is referred to in DCU by everyone. I would go with Ares (DC) and Ares (Marvel), or heck place them both and have links to both universes. Could be fun.

Bummer looks like the comic book Spirit mates have been pushed back as of the last shipping update. I hope they make it to stores, I am really excited for Spirit mates.

They must think we are stupid. Ooh I've always wanted a p.o.s. version of my favorite character...blammo!

They are nice sets, I just wish they had used a better plastic. The ones I got from my LCS seemed very cheap, compared to other minimates I've gotten before.

That is true! We can finally sneak minimates into the movie with us and reenact the battle scenes with our minimates. This is excellent on DST/AA's part.

I did my comic store shipment and no luck for me on those packs. Bummer I was so excited for today.

Just posted the list on AFX's blog and sent them an e-mail. Man that would be something if they used our picks. The power to make change.

Holy monkeys! So I called around and my Toys R Us had them. A TRU in Yuma, Arizona! Wow, so I got two Union Jack/Wondermans, a Hulk/Doom, and a Spiderman/Goblin. I am so stoked, I hope this happens will more minimates, it great to see them in my small town. I think the reason this worked out was because I bought two Union Jack/Wonderman packs off of ebay totaling around 40 bucks. Well if anyone needs a Union Jack Wonderman pack let me know.
