  1. BTW, I don't know if anyone else has done this or mentioned it, but I took the boots off the original GG and stuck them on the new one (I'd already taken the old one apart for a Silver Age Brainiac I'm working on, so it worked out well). They fit absolutely perfectly. In fact, the purple of the boots matches much better with the purple of the new figure then the original (I wonder if they planned that...). Anyway, I know that some people hate those clunky extra boots, but I like 'em. He doesn't feel like the Goblin to me without curly feet.

I did the same :P My goblin needs to have some pointy boots. I kept the pumpkin bomb hand too, although it doesn't match the new gauntlet that well. It adds spice.

  2. Not really digging this set. A set with the more iconic Thunderbolts like Songbird, Mach #, Atlas, or Zemo etc would have been more my cup of tea. In a few years, Radioactive man will be back to his normal look, Penance wiil be back to being Speedball or is killed, and Norman will be the psycho goblin again.

I guess I've been spoiled by the past box sets. Invaders, Avengers #1, Defenders and Champions were more up my alley. This seems like it is taking advantage of a flash in the pan gimmick instead of getting us characters we've known for years.

  3. Tough choice between Molecule Man and Captain Marvel (or Photon or Pulsar or whatever). But I think Monica would probably still be made down the line. Molecule Man and the Beyonder would never see the light of day unless there was a Secret Wars II set.

Klaw would have also been a good choice for the boxset. I doubt we'll see him otherwise.

  4. I like most of them already. I'm not a fan of the powerhouse chest either, I think sometimes simple is best.

The only ones I would like redo are more costume variations. Sabretooth was in need of a better version released, and we're already getting him this coming year. Hawkeye could use a better version, without the powerhouse chest but that's really about all I've got. I'd rather have new characters that haven't been minimate-ized first. :D

  5. I don't know about Penance. Why would the spikes not be on the left side of his head? And the one with a cape/wings doesn't make any sense.

I could see a War of the Kings set out of this too, as it is the companion crossover to Dark Reign right now. The one one the right could be Black Bolt or Darkhawk. The one on the right could be Ronan the Accuser, and would explain the shoulderpads. The one on the bottom could be anybody, and the top...Starlord, maybe?

  6. That would be great. In the Hercules AFX blog, they mention some other surpirses. Hopefully it's something BSGish.

They don't just mention 'some other surprises'. They mention eight surprises. Lets see, that would be:

    Cavil

    Dorel

    Leobon

    Simon

    'Mother' Cylon

    missing 2 From the Fleet

    and possibly Number Seven

Or maybe the kick butt Starbuck from New Caprica.

Granted, this is probably way too wishful of thinking but...

If they did 8 BSG minimates, I would think it would be an almost all cylon set:

    Cavil

    Dorel

    Leobon

    Simon

    Anders

    Tori

The final cylon - we know who this is, but I won't say the name for spoilers sake.

And one more: either Starbuck, Hot Dog, Eyepatch Tigh, D'anna or the other Athena that was shown. Although Starbuck and Hotdog would not be cylons as far was we know.

  7. So when are we getting MODOK to lead our AIM agents?

I wonder how a MODOK would be done....A 3" minimate head with 2" minimate arms?

I'm loving these waves. We're getting close now to having a lot of the Marvel essential characters, ones who have carried there own series.

Since we're already wishing, I'd still like:

    Moon Knight

    Hercules

    Black Panther

    Falcon

  8. I don't own this wave yet but the only figure that I like is the gen. ross one. He can be either movie or 616.

Yep, Ross is quite awesome, and works well with the comic book based Hulks as well.

Just got my set in a few days ago. I really was surprised with Abomination. He isn't spot on to his movie likeness, but he makes an awesome minimate. Blonsky was pretty good, and I was even impressed with Betty Ross who looks just like Liv Tyler. My least favorite of the wave were the Hulk minis. Oh well. Still a good wave.

  9. I bought the DC minimates because they were stylisticly similar to their Marvel and movie counterparts. So, would I buy another type of DC block figure, even though other minimate lines were still producing new product? No way.

I've always considered minimates as one big toyline with different licenses, and not different licenses under the same banner.

  10. Well I was working at TRU when they came out, so I know part of the reason, at least there. At first we stocked them in action figures. Being Batman and all that. But then we moved them to Legos. But Lego and Megablock have a fairly tight grip on the market, so they complained. So we THEN moved then into the far mack corner, next to Lincon Logs and Tinker Toys. K'Nex got more exposre than C3 did. Shortly thereafter they were all clearanced out.

Hell, they weren't selling so much that I was sick one day and my manager put me on the far register that no one uses, and I asked her if I could play with them so she said okay. Aside from being sicker than a dog, it was a great day. I got paid to play with the Batwing. And yes, I did keep Batman when I had to put the set in returns. But the Batwing managed to stay on display for like a week.

Sometimes I almost miss working there.

    ...Almost.

The lack of diversity didn't help things either. Of the initial wave of C3 sets, only the Superman/Darkseid set didn't have Batman. There was just way too much Bat-stuff too fast. The mini-flyers and Javelin didn't come out until the C3 line was already winding down.

  11. You are correct, they are factory-finished, non produced figures. The display cases are for 1/64 scale cars, and I usually get my cases from:

    http://www.crystalcaseworks.com/acrylic_ca...play_cases.html

Interesting those cases look like the ones I have but are more expensive?

I bought mine ( I have 3*108 cases) from from Carney Plastics.

The 108 car is $87 compared to $129 at Crystal works.

Carney also have awesome customer service, one of mine tuned up with a small crack inthe plastic and the arranged for another to be sent out and that one picked up with zero fuss...

    T.

They are almost exactly the same. I ordered a couple of cases from Crystal Case Works about a year ago. It took them a really long time to deliver the cases, and when I got them, there was a card that said "thanks for buying Giovanni plastics". Giovanni plastics is now Carney plastics. I ordered my last two cases from Carney, and the turnaround is MUCH faster (a week as opposed to a month), and it is the same quality product.

FYI, Fizzle, you can buy direct from Carney and not pay middle man mark up from Crystal Case Works. I'm ordering another case here in the next few weeks. I usually buy the 56 space sets, around $80 at CCW, $60 at Carney.

  12. I thought the eco-friendly peanuts were made from corn startch? The ones I ate sure tasted like Grandma's home cookin'.

I once filled the bathtub up with water and dumped a whole box of these peanuts in, and watched then all dissolve into a nice beige foam. I felt like I was disobelying the laws of thermodynamics.
