  1. Yeah, shifting further towards a retailer that doesn't exist in the country isn't good news for Canadian collectors. And if there are as many distribution problems as people say, it might not be good news for American collectors, either. It's great that DST has support from another store now that TRU is gone, but how well can they be doing if no one can find them?

I've heard a fair few complaints about Walmart, but that would actually be my best case scenario as a new location for Marvel Minimates. They don't seem like they're on the brink of bankruptcy, and there's even a chance that some exclusives could show up in Canada.

No new LCS announcements is too bad, but not particularly surprising. Hopefully when wave 77 shows up it'll be exciting, because while the last couple waves have been well done, the character selection hasn't really appealed to me much.

As far as the figures themselves, they all look good, especially Rocket & Warlock and Strange & Ghost Rider.

  2. I'm actually most interested in the Doctor Strange & Ghost Rider pack, those are two major characters I still need classic versions of. Hopefully it won't be too hard to track down.

BC Avengers are interesting, I wouldn't have expected that.

  3. I had no idea that had been a theory, it was just an example to show that having the same name didn't necessarily mean they were meant to be the same character.

  4. The lack of continuity bothers me too, but playing devil's advocate, there's really nothing to say they aren't two unrelated people both named Yukio. No one was complaining that Peter was an unfaithful adaptation of Pete Wisdom.

  5. I could be wrong, but I think the Spidey/Keaton set ended up being discounted, which can't have helped future exclusives.

No minimates for SDCC is a bit disappointing, but not really surprising. For the Marvel line I'm guessing we'll see Hank Pym, a Walgreens wave, and maybe something from a new retailer.

  6. If wave 77 hasn't been finalised yet, I don't see it showing up this year.

Movies being relegated to box sets at specialty seems to have increased the opportunity for comic waves, since we have three this year and only one last year.

  7. I'd say the Infinity War Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Black Panther were just as much reissues as Doctor Strange. I can understand the reasoning behind the Guardians and Strange, though, since their previous versions weren't at Walgreens.

And we already have a couple of classic comic Stranges, but I wouldn't mind one that I didn't have to get on the aftermarket in a box set I otherwise have no interest in.

  8. That's a good point with the ML envy, they've been making a lot of characters I'd like to see as minimates. I'd say, though, that ML also has an advantage with the sheer amount of product they're putting out. It's easier to touch more corners of the Marvel universe when you release around a hundred figures a year.

  9. An Astonishing X-Men wave would be pretty great, but I'd definitely want Wolverine over Cassandra Nova or Ord.

I'm not very familiar with modern Iron Man comics, but classic Iron Monger and new AIMs would be nice to see. I wouldn't say no to more Thunderbolts characters, either, even if it's not my favourite era of the team.

    So umm...

    @Zach & Luke

The Ebony Maw I ordered from Luke appears to have two left arms. Normally I've had success getting replacement parts from DST in the past, but I'm really not sure how easy that will be given this figure's weird TRU/Specialty release situation.

I'm struggling to decide which of you I should take this problem up with. Any advice? lol. I'd hate to take another of this sought after set out of Luke's inventory if I can avoid it, but I'm not certain this is a part easy to replace.

I'm not sure about Maw, but DST didn't have any replacement parts available for my Iron Spider-Man leg. Luke's might be your only option.

  11. That makes it sound like it'll be somewhere other than specialty, which is probably better for minimates as a brand, but less convenient for me personally. It's great that it's being released, though.
