  1. I'm a big fan of the MCU design for Antman and I'm thinking the updated wasp design will be killer since we all know DST is 99% likely to make minimates for the upcoming film even if it's not Janet in the suit and a long wait :/

For you guys' sake I hope she gets made in comic form too though! I'd have preferred her to QCQuake.

I guess it depends on how you think of the Hulk. The ones we get now would be a bit short for a 9' Hulk. With all of the bulky parts, most Hulk minimates are ~2.5" tall, which IMO is pretty spot-on for his official height of 7-8'. Still, he's been shown larger, so I can see where you're coming from.

Yeah I mean for a small Hulk it's not bad but the bulked up parts also make it hard to get any articulation as well though.

DST can only make a limited number of Marvel Select figures in a year, so Marvel Select collectors would be angry if one of the slots was taken by a crossover figure from a line they don't collect.

As a big Hank Pym fan, I definitely understand the scale frustrations that go along with Giant-Men, Goliaths, Sentinels, Galacti, etc., but I like the size that the Hulk 'mates are. I wouldn't want them on larger bodies. Most of the 2.5" DCD minimates look too big to me.

I've seen the big dark angel ones and I kinda get what you mean. The blockiness is definitely more noticeable at 3" as opposed to 2". However seeing as a 6 foot guy would be 2" a 3" inch 9 foot hulk just makes sense to me.

I doubt the license restrictions are that easy to circumvent. A figure is a figure regardless of how it's packaged.

I just don't get how they have a 7" (and probably above because some of those selects are tall) license and they can't give us 7" minimates. Like Is there literally a clause on the marvel contract that says they can't use the minimate style at the 7" scale? That's hard to imagine but I guess it could happen?

Sure, but the whole wave has a budget. You can see a big difference between 74 and 75 when it comes to alternate parts and accessories, or the fact that bulked-up characters are included. Would Moon Knight have been better if they didn't have to cost out Daisy? Could someone else have had an alternate look? And Daisy is just a notch above a quick custom. I think a lot of the best minimates have been so good because of the extras and the creativity those extras allow. That's a major trade off for a BAF. I don't think I'd want it to become standard as I much prefer quality over quantity. Apparently I have unusually high standards in regards to minimates though.

Good to see Punisher is mostly comic accurate. Looks like a great base to make mods to as well.

    This.

Honestly, between having more accessories than one figure could hold at a time, or getting an extra character each series, I'd much rather have more characters. Bring on the BAF!

To me I'd rather have a bunch of accessories, I mean if it's one more figure a wave or missing out on multiple weapons for Punisher or Moon Knight I'm gonna want the weapons. Some characters need accessories to even warrant me buying them. I mean go ask all the crossbones/hawkeye packs at Walgreens. Especially since DST has already been doing a decent job giving us obscure characters already.

In summation I love BAFs as a concept but if it restricts accessories I'm not a fan. It'd be different if we could get big characters out of it.

Darn work. They didn't put them up before I started and now both the Hasbro 6-inchers are sold out. Do I really want to spend $13 to get this set?

Shipping is a bitch, and if you bought the wave you basically have the set already minus the hands and half mask. I'd already made this spidey months ago with pizza and the Walgreens half mask spidey.

  8. Everything I've read says it's the second biggest. Behind Spider-Man 3. At 117 mil domestic. Also I think this series needs to show its continuing to garner more views for the sequel. If Spider-Man 3 was a higher grosser than the 2002 it could be because fans were invested. So if this Spider-Man makes it to 3, 4, 5 much like Harry Potter the hype will carry them to bigger numbers.

When the minimates at my LCS are mixed up I usually can't help my self from putting them back together.

There's no need to buy the box set, especially since you can buy all three packs for a few dollars more at TRU. I think that's kind of a questionable decision if DST wants LCS support on this line, but I'm sure there's a reason.

I feel this but I'm hoping to find two of the TRU exclusives and the other 2 packs and then pick up an extra box set from lukes at some point.

  10. I mean just like Spider-Man 3 which was sony's biggest opening, yeah? With a big opening you should kinda expect a big drop afterwards, right? I mean millions of people go see your movie opening weekend and most don't go to rewatch it. So yeah, unless there's some business/financial reason that you should expect a movie to hold 100 million sales everyday for what seems like a ridiculously long time, the more money you make at first on a one time engagement type sale the more you should expect it to drop after the first few weeks. Bigger the opening the bigger the drop. Just common sense.

  11. I hope we can get the black order from the movie. It'd make a kickass box set for next years SDCC since the movie doesn't hit till may and it'd just be 2 months later. While I enjoy the Walgreens Proxima, it is one of the few times I agree with the whole "animated not fitting in" argument. Hyperion, Spider-Man, even animated Coulson all could pass for comic/movie versions to me but Proxima just looks very cartoonish and simplified. Not a knock on DST, I mean they probably had to make it cater to that style, and I'm happy we got one. I'd just rather have a more detailed one and have the headdress be a seperate piece.

Plus I mean after this years SDCC set a box set of the order would be awesome and completely worth the wait.

The updated looks are a Spider-Verser, a hero, and a villain. No combination of those 3 could be Cloak and Dagger . . .

wishfuk thinking that Cloak is a pack in since I have the body of the last one but just really want a new face for it.

I thought I did! Three new characters, three updated looks. One re-done spider-verser, one new hero look, one new villain look. New characters are classic cosmic, spider-rogue and legacy anti-hero.

    They're both updated looks. @BuffaloDelorean

  14. While I want humans (it'd be awesome to have hunnam and Perlman as mates but that prolly won't happen) I guess if I had a spare couple dollars I'd buy the Jaegers they could be cool robot guards for Fisk or something since we know they're not gonna be in scale (if that was possible it would warrant a definite purchase). Cool human designs are more of an instabuy for me than not in scale big stuff. Times is tough and the $10 price point on 2 packs ain't Helpin.

Didn't an older Spidey come with an all blue slipover? May have to dig that out and see if it could work for Spectrum.

Insulated spidey. Hopefully he's not as expensive as his packaging partner. I really don't get why we haven't had a rerelease of classic electro and scorpion. I mean his daughter or a female electro was in asm not too long ago. You'd think they could have had a domino/copycat sitch with an extra chest block and head for a two in one.

I should have clarified better in my last post but yes, it's classic Medusa I'm looking for. If I was interested in a modern look, this one would work for me.

The way minimates are built, with a hair piece that fits on top of the base head, I personally feel masks should be an accessory just like the hair. It keeps everything consistent. Characters like Dr Spectrum look out of place next to a character with hair or an actual mask.

Thanks I'll never look at non slipovers the same again :/

You still think/feel this way about Spider-Man characters without slipovers? On blackbolt it absolutely looks ridiculous because he needs a protruding tuning fork but it didn't bother me as much with masks like spidey's
