  1. Something had to have happened to him recently. I'm not sure why he started in on me again after all this time but if he wants to bring up the past, I'll bring it all out for everyone to see. My old blog posts have been posted at CBR - they get way more traffic than my blog ever has AND they're good about taking down scam artists like Gwarff. (If anyone has time, I'd recommend reading the Olney thread from the beginning. There's some good stuff in there.)

My guess is he's running out of time on his license agreements and needs any quick $$ he can scrounge up to get SOMETHING made. He figures he turns up his message board spam, gets some free advertising and gets a couple of people to take a risk and pre-order the figures from him. Then when he changes the ship date AGAIN and gets out of refunding people via Paypal, he's made another profit without producing a single figure.

I hate to have my name associated with him again after all this time, but sadly I have the documentation on his past and if it helps shut down his scam once and for all, I can live with that.

  2. I still don't get it. This is, what? A set that was done and they sent it to you early? I still don't understand this production sample thing.

Yay! Iron Monger comes with hands!

A production sample is similar to a prototype - only it will usually be near the end of the process, rather than the beginning. Its one of the final steps before the finished product comes out.

  3. Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us carry them at normal retail prices - around $9.99 to $11.99 each. I've seen them at specialty stores as well, such as Urban Outfitters (around $25 each), Borders (usually $20 each) and comic book stores (prices vary depending on the crook running the shop).

  4. Hrm. Nobody reads the 1st post anymore....

    Here's how it's gonna work:

To participate this year, you must have +5 positive feedback scores or higher in the trading thread. If you qualify, please email reideen1313@yahoo.com the following form with Minimate Multiverse Secret Santa Info as the title (so it doesn't go into my spam folder). This form MUST be submitted no later than 11/23/08 to participate. Names will be distributed the last week of November.

  5. Hey Reideen, I just had an ideas. I don't know if you participate so you might not be able to do this, but if a member felt they didn't get enough info from their person for some reason or wanted to give the person who had been assigned them more ideas, would they be able to message you to forward that information along anonymously?

EDIT: I worded it better. Sorry, I'd just woken up, I was out of it.

If you think a family member can provide a better 'wish list' for you than you can, sure. Have them email me. I've been very successful using Jcastick's suggestion in years past though.

Today is the last day I'm accepting names, so if you want in, today's the day.

  6. I would like to propose an alternate, less expensive trip. We could sail around the world on this pirate ship:

    pirateship.gif

Right now I can get a 50.00 discount on it if I use a coupon code, so I need your $$ and support NOW. Please submit donations to my paypal address: yourewastingyourmoney@noemailaddress.com

I can only get this discount until 12pm Western, so I need you to get on board with this trip ASAP.

YOu killed it Rad. That's usually my job.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

    I killed it? Me?

    *consults lawyer*

Slander, libel! I'm suing your arse buddy! Philanthropist that I am, I shall donate all monies received to the MM(M)V moon shot!

Rad, that's a brilliant idea! We can use a giant cannon to blast to the moon! First we will sail around the world on that awesome pirate shp of yours, then we can all climb into the HUGE cannon mounted on the side (it's still in development, that's why it's not in the pic ;) ) and shoot ourselves up there. Once we arive we will need to begin construction on a second cannon, of course, that we will use for the return trip. We can hire some lackeys (TTF, SSP etc...) to fire the parts up to us. Brilliant!

    BS

We wouldn't even need the cannon if we sailed around the world fast enough. We could use it like a slingshot. If only there was a way to get us up to 88mph.

Or we could ask Godzilla to throw us up there....

  8. Update - Stuckakid is willing to help MMMV members again this year. Here's the email I got from Jason:

As for Secret Santa @ MMMV that's awesome of you guys and of course we'd love to help in any way we can!

Just have the MMMV folk specify 'MMMV Secret Santa gift' or something similar in the order comments and we'll get the ordered items wrapped up all nice and cheery for the spirit of the holidays. :D

Thanks again to Jason and all the gang at Stuckakid!!

  9. I guess my original thoughts when posting this was to generate a list of different minimates and assign a value to them based on scarcity. For example on a scale of, I dunno, 1 - 50, where one is very common and 50 is extremely rare like prototypes and extremely limited pieces. Maybe that range is too large, I don't know. But we would say that Bullseye is a 15 (for argument's sake) because it's pretty old. I would think that a smaller range would be better maybe 1-10 or 1-20.

It was just out of curiosity to see what people felt about different figures and I'm sure some interesting discussions / debates would happen!

Prototypes and test shots are more rare than anything you're going to find at retail.

X3 Phoenix would be next on the list as most scarce IMO
