  1. That art is very similar to the Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein art....

Found it. Looks like he did an homage with mates:

Only reason I knew this is because I've got an original set of the postcards Wrightson did. Picked 'em up when I was running my store - 16 years ago now - and I had Mr. Wrightson sign them at KC Comic Con way back when. One of the few collectibles I still have from that time of my life.

  2. Language filters aren't the way to go IMO. When fans of Batman can't list Nightwing's 1st name in their post without creative spelling, there's a problem. When people cannot say 'an airplane pilot sits in the cockpit' without using a zero instead of an 'O' there's a problem.

  3. IMO this is going to be one of those lines that you'll want 2 sets each of. One to play with and one to keep MIB. Appeals to multiple collectors, fantastic LEGO quality, first wave of the line (and you know LEGO is going to milk the license like they do SW) all factors make this a must buy line for me.

Another line to watch that I think has HUGE potential is the Space Police line. No license to speak of, huge play potential for kids to just build with their imagination. This is the kind of line fans will eat up 10 years from now.

  4. Damn that sucks. I don't think car insurance will cover it, since it wasn't an installed piece of equipment, but it wouldn't hurt to check with your agent just in case. Did you file a police report?

  5. Shane would know more about this than I would, since he manages the ads here.

That said, when I was working for an online retailer, our affiliates had a similar system. They could use banner ads, links, etc and they worked like you state above.

I'm assuming it would work out for MMMV but I don't know that for an absolute fact.

  6. Lets just hope I dont turn to the dark side...

Imagine three years from now you all debating wether I was evil or not.... or acting in horror at the mention of my name....

I have my opinions on both Tim and Ulan but they're staying off this board

Its been a bit more than 3 years, but I thought it would be timely to look back and judge the infamous Ady Carter who (for good or bad) brought us all back together after the demise of the AA forums.

(Also I'm curious to see how many 'who's Ady Carter' responses we get! :D)

  7. Nothing good. DCD was going to do the design work in house, rather than having AA do them. Mostly all reused parts - not much if anything new for the next wave.

Like I said, probably a good thing while it lasted but not something I'd petition DCD to bring back. At least not while Georg is still in charge.

  8. I've said this before in many other similar threads. You're better off with the line being dead vs what DCD had in mind for the line. Trust me on this.

This is news to me. Did you have "inside info", or are you making a joke? :D

A little inside info from someone I trust. I'd rather remember them for what they were than see what they would've been.

  9. 25th Anniversary Duke from GI Joe has a pair that are very small, likely fitting in with Minimates. If I get some time, I'll take pics.

That is wrong on so many levels.....

Have any of you looked at the Ni Hao Kai-Lan sets in the preschool area? Those look to be in scale. I haven't purchased any yet, but plan to once I find a new job and have some stability in my finances.

Also there's a new Smurfs mushroom house out, also in the preschool area that could be in scale as well. It comes in 3 colors.

  10. Toywiz is a little high, but they aren't that far out of line on this one. (Despite the fact that they suck at everything else they do and stand for.)

A quick look at completed Ebay listings for Batman LEGO shows:

Mr Freeze set averages around $120 - ish.

Two Face set avg $100 - ish

    Batwing $85-ish

    Arkham $200-ish

    Tumbler/Joker van $150 to $200-ish

    Robin $49-ish

    Batcave $200+

What I find interesting is the price individual figures are going for:

    Joker $30-ish by himself

A lot of 8 minifigs was snatched up at the low, low price of $43.00

IMO these sets are going up for a variety of factors. Limited shelf life, iconic characters, appeals to multiple collector groups (both LEGO fanatics and Batman fans are competing for these) and the very real possibility that LEGO may not manufacture any more sets ever - despite continuing to hold the license (last I knew).

New LEGO product news will start trickling out this fall. Hopefully Batman will be back on the shelves in the LEGO aisle. There's so much ground still to cover for this line. I can't believe Spongebob has out-lived Batman at LEGO.

  11. Currently reading Daemons Are Forever by Simon R Green. I'll read anything he's written. Just got done reading the 2nd book of his Deathstalker series. Its a sci-fi/fantasy blend. Kind of a Star Wars & LOTR blend.

I'll read anything Jim Butcher gets his hands on as well. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next Codex Alera book to hit paperback soon.
