  1. Did you see my post? Length doesn't matter. It's important to note that not using major players DOES NOT equal a Good book. Countdown was sort of a spiritual sequel to 52... And it sucked. It's also important to note that I'm not saying DC is better then Marvel. Having spent a great deal of time reading books from both companies I can proudly say both have some pretty crappy comics on the market. That being said, I think DC "re-wrote" themselves about 4 years ago and have really turned it's universe into something special. What's extra exciting is that it seems Marvel is following suit... At least with everythinhg NOT Spider-man (Don't get me started on him). I'm also aware that Marvel makes more $ money than DC. I think that has to do with the fact that DC has stopped putting all their fish in one barrel. Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman are less about "Controlling the fate of the universe" than they are figure heads who deserve respect. Punisher, I DO suggest picking up more 52. Looking over at my shelf of TPBs, it's probably the set I love the most... But that wasn't because of "The Big 3" not being involved... It was because 4 writers did a damn fine job working together. I'm not sure if I would suggest picking up Infinite Crisis tho. Don't get me wrong, it's REALLY good, but if you are confused by 52 I don't think you're ready for Infinite Crisis yet. It uses a MASSIVE cast of characters (all of DC's) adn it's non-stop action. At least with 52 if you understand where the characters have been you should be able to relate to them.
  2. I believe DC tends to be based around the big 3 (and that's fine; Marvel's largely based around Spider-man, X-Men, and these days Avengers), and 52 did not really turn me on my head. Seeing as the whole book was based on the premise of what would happen in the absence of the big 3, that means Bats, Supes and Wondy were very involved in the story. I mean good for DC for taking their cornerstones out of play for a year, but when their absence is the whole driving force of the story it's hard to say that story isn't pushed by them (wasn't the first image for 52 even that picture of Superman's cape, Batman's cowl and Wonderwoman's whatever, all sitting there unused?). Similarly, didn't Marvel bump all their heroes off into some pocket universe or something in the late '90s? I think that was how the Thunderbolts started, maybe? Plus, House Of M was driven by Scarlet Witch (not exactly a big character), and Iron Man has only become a Marvel cornerstone because of his involvement in recent big stories. Anyway, not trying to get too Marvel fanboy on you I just think most sweeping generalizations about Marvel and DC can be seen from a different angle or two. I still largely disagree. Iron man has been huge forever. Maybe not as huige as current comics, but still not new to the field. 52 was based around the Question, Elongated man, Booster GOld, Steel, Adam Strange, Animal Man, Starfire & Rip Hunter. You heard of half of those characters before? Did you read 52? Or just look at the cover of the 1st issue? Having read Marvel for a long time, I can say Wolverine is on every damn Superhero team. DC doesn't use the big 3 nearlyt as mucxh as people think. Of their big teams: Justioce League, Titans & Justice Society the big 3 are only on 1 of them. That being said Supes, BAts and WW has been on LESS THAN HALF of the "incarnations" of Justice League over the years. Sure Supes & BAts eaqch have like 4 books apiece, but DC's vision and sales don't rely on them. Crisis of the INfinite Earths followed JOhn Stewart, FireStorm, Alexander Luthor, Flash, Pariah, Blue Beetle, Psycho Pirate, Harbringer and, Superman. Inifinite Crisis followed Powergirl, Nightwing, Superboy, Superboy Prime, Alexander Luthor and SupermanII. Countdown: Kyle Rayner, Troiya, Trickster, Piper, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, JAson Todd, Jimmy Olsen, Mary MArvel, Atom. Notice a pattern? The big 3 are almost not a part of any of the biog things DC does. Final Crisis, which is supposedly their final world changing Crisis has already taken Superman and Batman out of the equation, with Wonderwoman being next in issue 3. The difference with 52 is that in these other books they were there for "moral support." 52 was about a time when heroes had no one to look to. Imagine being a superhero and having your role model give up. That is the basis of 52. Also, having read that '90s example... Well all they did was "reboot" FF, Avengers and others while keeping XMen and Sipderman (their 2 bioggest properties) in play. It's true that I generalize, but when a large quantity hit the mark...
  3. I actually disagree Alpheon... Across the board. I'm more than happy to help. Punisher, essentially Infinite Crisis was DC giant event celebrating the 20th anniversary of Crisis of the Infinite Earths. It wasn't a happy ending though: 52 is DC's answer to the TV show 24. It recounts the year following Infinite Crisis, in which Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman walk away. It is a brilliant book and turns on it's head peop[le who believe DC is based around the big 3. It's not. Unlike Marvel, DC is willing to push their biggest stories with their smallest characters. It might start off a little confusing, especially if it's your first DC books, but it'll hit it's rythm soon. Oh, and "1 year later" is, obviously everything that happened AFTER 52. I am more than willing to walk you through some of the characters and confusing things if you have questions, just let me know.
  4. Ummm, I read them once, so I guess they're not 100% mint... I would give 'em a 99%.
  5. Alpheon, you should've got the word out here. I'm trying to sell off all my old comics for cvheap and Freeddom Force is in there.
  6. Fo Shizzle, to answer your question it is AA who created minimates. They've essentially contracted to different companies such as DCD and DST.
  7. I noticed Teen Titans is on your list there Fo. I dropped that one last month. When Geoff Johns was writing it it was phenomenal... Ever since he left it's been on a downwards spiral. I only read it as long as I did because Rose is awesome.
  8. Don't get me started on Exiles there Crippler. It started sucking when Tony Bedard left the book to go work at DC. I'm currently reading though: -Final Crisis (DC) -Booster Gold (DC) -Titans (DC) Also, when they come out in trades I've been picking up: -Green Lantern (Pick up Sinestro Corps if you haven't yet!) -Outsiders -Checkmate
  9. I think "The Death of the New Gods" was more of the end of fourth world. (Which just wrapped up a month or two ago). This is where we have to disagree though Jatta... Sure, Fourth World was never written well by anyone other than JAck Kirby (Which is why they called DOTNG a "mercy kill"). BUT there were LOTS of great characters. -Darkseid is the coolest baddie out there, hands down. Marvel, DC... It makes no difference, he's the best at being the worst. -Orion was also a great good guy. Essentially DC's "god of war" he was Darkseid's son who was traded for "peace" between New Genesis and Apokolips. Fort those who watched the cartoon he appeared in about a dozen episodes, including one of my favorites, "Flash and Substance." -Mister Miracle, the universes greatest escape artist. ... Wait, he's a god and THAT'S his power? Priceless. (The baby High Father traded for Orion) -Big Barda. Wonder Woman, only hotter. Is that possible? Check out a story with Barda (Like Superman/Batman: Supergirl) and you'll see. There were others like Kalibak or even GRanny Goodness if scary as hell babysitters are your thing, but those 4 in particular. Oh well... At least died.
  10. Personally I think Anthro and Kamadi are 2 of the lamest characters out there. I only even know about them because 1: Anthro appeared in COIE. (And also appeared in Booster Gold which is anAWESOME book. ) 2: Kamandi was in Countdown... Which sucked. That being said, them appearing in FC must be for a good reason. This, however only proves you right Jatta. FC makes its readers do all the leg work and find out who characters are on their own, which, is a flaw in the writing. If I got to choose, of course I would have Geoff Johns writing FC, but I'm sure Grant MOrrison will turn it around.
  11. I dunno Jatta... Have you READ the other Crisis'? The first issues are NEVER clear. Actually, in COTIE I don't think they reveal who the baddie is til like #3 or 4. Instead they jump around introducing characters and adding them to the pot. (Some of which were in Final Crisis #1) I can reassure you however that there is only 1 major villain in Final Crisis: All the others work for him. The story will follow Major Spoilers: On another note: I'm not sure if you ever watched the Animated Series, but the fat old detective in FC is Turpin who had a major role in Superman season 3 (and lesser roles in S1 & 2). He was the one when Superman and New Genisis stopped him. Foreshadowing perhaps?
  12. I dunno Neo, to be honest it's not hugely appealing to me either. Probabl because there WON'T be unlockable characters and because now that all the heroes are "zombies" it will give them excuses to use crappy AI. Add that to the fact that is only 1 of 14 Spidey games they'rte working on it just goes thow they're going for quantity over quality. SOURCE: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3168247
  13. Why does the game take place in 2149? Does that mean it's in the Marvel 2099/Marvel Zombies universe?
  14. 'Kay well we should probably start labelling this a SPOILER thread for 52 readers. As for making Question a guy I think you could cut the long hair off and use any number of torsos with a tie (like Prof X).
  15. Wait, has lastmaximal even posted in this thread? I'm perfectly happy being in the minority on this one and you can't say I'm the only one. However, I stand by my statement. Also, just for clarification, the Question in the comic books was never anything like he is in JLU. Gah! Sorry Magnus. I see your pic and jump to the conclusion of Maximals (since they are transformers). Yes, I know God Maguns is a transformer as well, but that's not the way my thought process works. You might be able to avoid some confusion by changing your avatar to this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/t...0px-Magnus0.jpg  As for Question, sure the comic's version never ran over Parademons with his car... But would he if he had the chance? I think that is the real point here. Comic's Question was never really in the lime-light. Apart from 2 mini series and him helping Huntress clear her name (Which is kind of depicted in the cartoon) he never did anything til 52. I like the think he would have been just like the cartoon had he had more "screen time." And, since Montoya was ORIGINALLY introduced in the cartoon (along with characters like Harley Quinn) I think it's fairly close to cannon. This one's for you vic. (hellpop, there might be people who haven't read 52 yet. You might want to SPOILER box your last line. )
  16. Bwa Ha Ha Ha! Chaselon is beautiful Graham. I love it.
  17. Well, it sounds like I'm in the majority Lastmaximal. Guess YOU'RE the only one who likes Montoya more. In her defense, there's nothing wrong with the character... But after watching JLU, Question (Vic) is by far one of the best characters out there. No comparison.
  18. Okay, I LOVE Cyborg's finger. Awesome! ... Waitaminute, It's the GIRL QUESTION!?!!? What the hell? No one likes Montoya as much as Vic. That is a HUGE slap in the face.
  19. Having read the first issue of Final Crisis I can say already it's going to be awesome.
  20. Ahhh, 52. What a great book. Seriously though, these are awesome!! You'll be pulling in comissions in no time!
  21. First, what KAm & TBT say are true: Just because a song is good DOES NOT make it fun to play. 2 Songs come to mind, Roxannne & This ain't no scene it's an arms race. Why are they "unfun?" BO-RING. Which is why HArmonix probably picked rock. The guitar needs to be strong to carry the game. Second, It's true, there are some obscure bands in there, but I'm actually glad there are. I didn't know about 30 seconds to mars or Yeah yeah yeahs before RB and I love them! Just because a song isn't old doesn't make it bad. Change is good. I don't know Neo... Sounds like you fall into the mistake at looking at games for whats not fun, rather than the other way around. I agree, sometimes I'll look at the American Idol downloads and think: Where's Sweet Home Alabama for RB? But, on the other hand RB is the shining pinnacle of music games so far and I love how much it has to offer. Lastly, I wouldn't count on that song list for GH4. If you didn't like the song list for GH3, Activision is making GH4 so... Maybe you'll get to play against Satan again. For those of you who want to know: -Harmonix made Guitar Hero 1 & 2 then sold the license to Activision -Harmonix went on to create Rock Band... Activison went on to create nothing and cashed in on GH by making the 3rd one identical to the 2nd -Harmonix announced Rock Band 2 will be out his fall with no new instruments but online World Tour, the ability the write songs and more. -Activision announced Guitar Hero 4 will be released early next year and will have online coop and song writing.
  22. I dunno, Neo... RB already IS one of the best selling games of all time. RB2 WILL be backwards compatible on all previous downloaded songs AND were tyhe ones who ORIGINALLY planned to have song writing in the game. GH4 is a COMPLETE knockoff, and I'm not gonna touch it. As far as different music goes, sure some of the songs aren't my fav.s but with roughly 200 songs to choose from (and more every week) there is a HUGE library for RB. Also, did your brother-in-law unlock all the songs? Oh, and welcome to my world Neo... Where "disliking RockBand" is hypocrisy.
  23. GameCube games you NEED: -Skies of Arcadia (If you can find it... Good luck) -Resident Evil 4 -Soul Calibre 2 -Beyond Good and Evil -MArio Kart You'll notice only 1 of the 4 I mentioned are 1st party. Melee and the four games above are the best games made for GameCube. Sadly, most people have only played half of them.
  24. Wow! Thanks guys! That's so much better than the answer I was expecting.
  25. So I'm looking on ebay at deloreans for my minimates. I know other people bought one for theirs. What size is it? 1:24? 1:18?
