  1. Yes, it is a shame someone not be named got well, let's call it a little greedy and dipped, double dipped and triple dipped into the proto pile - or save from the trash - depending on who you listen to. Either way that and some other shady behavior definitely locked down the gate. Shame really because if they are getting trashed, it would be a true crime.
  2. That's cool. Glad to hear there are some out there. And yes, having an original Eddie Wires paint is a huge upside to having one.
  3. Yeah, sure. There are a lot of different names for items from different points in the process. Just trying to make conversation.
  4. Hey guys. Long time no see. If this thread needs to be moved, please do so. Not sure where to post it. I have been lucky enough to see so many first shot minimates they have unfortunately become numb to me. I am talking about countless trips to cons, toy fairs and the NY DST showroom and even the AA office before that. I have become spoiled by most standards. But I have also become curious. As an avid collector of far too many toy lines I appreciate the collectibility of "prototype" toys. I know while all of it is hard to come by and can be rather expensive, some toys lines can be particularly hard to get stuff from. How much minimates prototype stuff is there out there? I have been curious out of all those countless hand painted first shots, how many made it out to collections and how many just hit the trash. I am not asking anyone to out their what they may have in the collection if they don't want to. Just a general idea. But in the spirit of sharing, I have one. A wave 8 Gaijin Wolverine II. Looks pretty much like the final version but has no claws.
  5. Thanks for that gallery link. I am always digging for more pics of me.
  6. My speculation - and only my speculation - is that since DST is making generic vehicles for their Minimates, why wouldn't they do the same for these if the line progresses? I guess also making an assumption the other vehicles sell well as well.
  7. No it isn't. Yeah, I am more excited over the potential of the line than just this one figure. Don't get me wrong, I do dig it. I just need a good half dozen to get a good feel of the line.
  8. Hey there - sorry to start another Battle Beast thread but there was a request for pics from me and I didn't want them lost in the 10+ page thread. I hope no one is offended. Anyway on with the show: First a couple in and out of package shots Next some more out of package pics Now a side by side by side comparison with a Battle Beast and another Minimate At first I thought this was Battle Beast #15 Grusome Gator but now I am leaning towards Laser Beast #112 Dino Gator - I just didn't even think about that one until I pulled them out for the pics. And finally just a goofy pic for some fun The figure is a little cumbersome with all the add attachments to the green blank but I couldn't be happier for the return of the Battle Beasts!!!
  9. That is crazy. I am so done with that show. I have gone to too many of those big shows and SDCC is becoming this giant weird cartoon version of its former self.
  10. I don't care much for it either - but that is probably why it is free.
  11. Get out your decoders: http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=9522
  12. Today's review is of the Hot Toys Alien Captain Dallas 1/6 Scale Poseable Model Kit. I have been waiting for this figure forever it seems (as well for its companion piece Kane). You can find the review here.
  13. Today's review is for Hasbro's latest Adventure Heroes - the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom wave. It consists of six figures: a new Indiana Jones, Willie Scott, Short Round, Temple Priest, Temple Guard and Mola Ram. You can jump right to the review here.
  14. Today's review is of the Target Exclusive Hasbro GI Joe Cobra Rattler Jet with Wild Weasel figure. You can go directly to the review here.
  15. I am back with another Transformer. Today it is the Toys R Us exclusive Titanium The War Within Grimlock. You can jump right to the review here.
  16. Too often I find myself buying a toy without a real reason why. Sometimes I get something cool with my impulse buy and sometimes I don't. This time I think I have the former - something cool. I present Kaiyodo Yatake Yoshinori's El with Reideen PVC figure.
  17. Today I bring you Series 2 of the Diamond Select Toys Battlestar Galactica action figure line. As a big fan of the show, I am excited to get more toys for it. The review can be found here.
  18. Today I bring you an obligatory review of the Gentle Giant Star Wars Aayla Secura Mini Bust. Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I have a fan boy crush on this character so I would have to review this bust.
  19. I was going to do more SDCC exclusives but I am going to stop with this one - The McFarlane Toys HALO 3 Hellspartan.
  20. Today brings yet another SDCC exclusive. Today is the Gentle Giant Star Wars Scout Trooper On Speeder Bike Kustomz figure. The review can be found here.
  21. Another day and another SDCC exclusive. Today is the Hasbro Mighty Muggs Movie Edition Iron Man figure.. The review can be found here. Is the new format any easier to read?
  22. I took a bit of a hiatus because San Diego Comic Con wore me out. That show is a little too much - too many people, too many lines, too many exclusives. So now I am back and I am going to post a few reviews of some of the exclusives I picked up while I was there. First up is the GI Joe Combat Heroes Snake Eyes and Timber preview figure set. The review can be found here.
  23. Phthalate is perhaps the chemical 'hinted' at. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/10/15/...=Health_3366238 Phthalate softens plastic & is perhaps used in the accessories in 'Mates rather than the figures themselves. Yeah, that's what he said. I couldn't remember the wrod. I am sure he is said that is why the minimates themselves feel different. Did anyone else here go? Maybe they can remember better. I was drooling at the time because the Attack of the Show panel was next in that same room and I was dying to see Olivia Munn. That and I was so happy to see Digger. I haven't seen him in years. I didn't know he was finally coming back to the States for SDCC.
  24. Chuck explained at the Minimates panel that they had to switch to a new plastic to comply with new UK and CA laws that legislate what can be in the plastics so they are safe for kids. I forgot the specific item that can't be in the plastic anymore.
  25. Is this what you want or do you mean the case box they all came in?
