  1. Seeing this topic makes me sad. I'm still quite bummed we never got the Bruce Lee minimates.

In fact I went out of my way to make a bunch of Bruce customs. Someday I'll finish them.

But a minimates line like the Temple of Kung Fu line could have been epic.

  2. I still think TOS is pretty much what sells with ST, but I suppose DST could do something with Strange New Worlds and sort of get into that TOS space.

I'm digging the new Playmates reveals, although we just basically got sneak peeks and we need to see a lot more to see if those figures will be any good or not. I think they look swell, but unless they have alternate hands they're going to be pretty drab.

Anyway, I think DST is done with ST. But maybe the new box set formula could work.

    Message me.

For marketing purposes, we felt that advertising them as Wave 82 was an unnecessary barrier to purchasing, for retailers and consumers. That said, they will have an 82 on the package somewhere.

Unfortunately for MM fans, the 82 will be preceded by a $.

    I kid, I kid.

I actually find this price easier to swallow than the $40 for 4 figures in the Joe line. Much more value here overall.

  4. This is going to seem really lazy, but I'm almost certain I've stuck Lego heads on Minimates head pegs before and they fit okay (I believe you lose the ball joint obviously.

I have a few Minimates around, but no Legos without really digging through a bunch of my stuff. Can someone confirm?

I'm thinking of buying a Lego head for a custom and I need to confirm this works.

I know Lego heads are a bit smaller, but my custom will be a slightly oversized helmeted Lego, so I think it might work.

If anyone can help or even provide a pic, I'd be grateful.

These are now in our warehouse, item #AUG192722. They are not on our website (different warehouse), but you can either order it through your local comic shop, or wait for them to reach your preferred online retailer.

Huzzah! Thanks Zach, I sincerely appreciate it!

    Golden Girls...finally. ?

Golden Girls would sell, that stuff has been a huge seller for everyone. But I mean, once you do the 4 main, you're left with a Golden Palace set and then maybe an Empty Nest box set? Jedi ghost versions?

GOT would be a huge mistake, IMO. It's become the Nickelback of television. Once the most popular thing in the world, now it draws audible groans when mentioned aloud and if there are any fans left, they hide in shame and don't openly admit it in public.

  7. Well with the WTF nature mentioned here, I wonder if it would even be anything "cool and nerdy" that we might expect.

Could it be really way out there like Top Gear or Impractical Jokers or some other junk that apparently a lot of people watch, but you know, probably isn't a good fit for toys and merch, despite companies constantly doing it.

TV show almost guarantees it's another "civilian" line, so we should hope it's based on a toon or some kinda sci-fi type deal because I can't imagine trying to sell dudes in shirts and pants at these prices, but I dunno.

I'm hoping to be wowed, darn it!

  8. I guess it depends on what "existing pricing" is. Since that seems to be completely different or random if you like, based on the license/packaging (but packaging somehow isn't a factor in DST price hikes even though cost of paper and such is also up) but I think if 4 packs settle on a new price and that's the new model, it should probably try to stay consistent for a bit. I guess we'll see.

So is the Jan thing, the SDCC thing and the FF thing all the same thing or all different things?

  9. I'd love some Doom Patrol mates of any sort.

I really love the DC mates. They're a bit simple at times, but really work well overall.

Todd revived some other DC Direct stuff, someone get him on the horn and tell him to work with DST to get more DC mates. And gasp, maybe even get them into actual stores.

First one is probably price, second is license. It's a great license, but not an expected one.

Since the dates are apart... Does this mean late Jan we're just going to see another random price hike?

I'm not trying to be obtuse, but if the second is a WTF license, but the first is price, it seems like the price is unrelated to the item.

I mean who says "We have a new license, we can't tell you what it is, but expect to pay this much for it when we announce it", ya know?

New or rebooted licenses, I expect. Maybe something else from Hasbro's portfolio (Magic: The Gathering, Micronauts, Dungeons & Dragons) or another licensor (ViacomCBS Consumer Products).

I assume Minimates will now be BAF with each piece packed into a Deluxe Gallery Diorama Statue and only available on DST's new streaming platform DST+Max but that's just baseless speculation.

The Vinimates 2-pack? I am not sure if more are coming, but I will look into it.

Worst case, SRP was $20, you can get it on eBay for $28.

Weird. You told me a year ago you were making more and trust me, they never came back around in that time because I've been waiting. Even when you guys listed them as "back in stock" on DST's site, that ended up being untrue and I got refunded.

But you're right at least that they've come down in price on Ebay from a year ago when they were jacked up to obscene amounts.

A bunch of retailers are offering preorders on them though, which is why I asked.  Zavvi, BBTS, EE, etc. If I don't have to pay more than retail, I'd rather not. If you could look into it, I'd appreciate it.
