wait quick question were the rest of the figures for tru6 other than rosita gabriel and ben franklin zombie

OT: Those of you who read this series in trade form, did any of you buy the Omnibus' or Compendiums? I have the 1st 10 volumes through Amazon's Kindle Store, but the rest of the volumes are no longer available. I need to desperately catch up, but could use a little advice on where to go. Right now I'm leaning towards picking up the Omnibus' despite them being more expensive. Any thoughts?

in my opinion avoid the conpendiums those things are the biggest pain in the ass to transport read or carry or read, nver a seen the omnibus but if theyre much smaller than the conpendiuems id go with those given the choice, but if i were you id just buy the individual volumes, you can get them for about 8 bucks shipped on amazon so it will prob be more expensive but theyre easier to read and the collection just looks mor organized

ynow i like 5 figures in this series, chris is a little obscure but with the recent tv arc and the popularity of gareth i can understand, but honestly why derek, i mean i get hes the variant and theyre not gonna put someone like ezekiel a variant but why not a savior like connor or carson or even heath or maybe one of the canned figures form tru6, someone else who was in more than 3 issues and has an interesting design i mean derek is a bald guy wearing earthtones, but back to the good parts the negan and jesus are perfect in every way, the rick is okay but im glad a character with a white t shirt is in specialty and not tru, i need those all the time and dwight is pretty good but i might give him a different jacket when he comes out and the zombie holly with the normal head is genius, but im really excited for the tru wave but at the same time i really hope they dont put someone like ezikiel or heath at tru cause im like 85% sure my tru stopped stocking mates

Even before the character appeared (more or less) on TV, Chris was a PRETTY major character. If HE's obscure, in spite of his involvement in the death of a major survivor and the darkening of four others, then a lot of other characters just dropped below the "obscure" line. He wasn't in that many issues, and his appearance was pretty nondescript, but he made a BIG impression, and was part of at least two or three big OMG moments (tainted meat, messing with the wrong people, the whole dismemberment thing).

Derek had even less screen time, so I guess you could call him obscure, but they teased his arrival pretty hard, and he got a pretty big spotlight moment. Also, he's the one-per-case.

I get why people want Heath, but I also don't know that Heath has made as big an impression in all his appearances as Derek did in, like, two issues. I feel like most of Heath's stories were relationship-related, when he wasn't loitering on rooftops. But then, I'm still a little behind, so maybe I missed his big moment.

Rosita and Gabriel will probably not be variants, whenever they show up, but they will not be in TRU 7. Hopefully whoever is in the TRU assortment will be easily acquirable in the store or online. Hopefully, after the recent reset, more stores will come back on board for TWD, Aliens and/or Marvel Minimates.

Well, it happened. The toys have crossed over past the point where I stopped reading, which was somewhere after Carl goes after Negan. It had become a blah, blah, blah us vs them storyline... again. So to me, the wave is just okay. I mean, I'd have to go back to the books to see who at least half of them are. I guess whoever Holly is, she becomes a zombie... I suppose I could catch up reading, but time is such a rare commodity these days.

Disppointment? Yes. Outrage? I'm not sure this board has seen my outrage, at least not the kind that drove Digger from his own message board back in the day.

But yeah, I don't see why DST wouldn't offer Shiva when they've offered such license-specific characters they'll never (yes, never) be able to use again. A big cat like that could easily be re-deco'd and re-accessorized to become a variety of other big cats. Hell, I didn't even know that fighting bear character (I'm not big on arcade games) but I bought one because... bear! (And this guy.)

However, it's sounding like Shiva is to The Walking Dead what Ghost Rider's bike is to Marvel.

While I can certainly appreciate man's love of animals, that's a weird comparison. We can't make vehicles for the Marvel line contractually, but I doubt there is a no-tigers clause for Warlking Dead. I also know that when we got the license, we had no idea the opportunity to make a tiger would arise, so we probably estimated what tooling costs would be for each wave when we negotiated the guarantee, royalties, etc. Next to the licensing, the tooling is the biggest cost we pay, so we need to know that going in.

With MvC3, I think we assumed that half of the figures would be little or no tooling, and the others would mostly require new parts. So making a flaming dog-deity fit in with our cost analysis. Walking Dead gets its share of new zombie parts, but it's also mostly civilians wearing clothes. I think sales have leveled off with the increasing amount of TWD merch out there, so I can't imagine we're looking to increase the tooling significantly, but it may just be that the line planners wanted to focus on comic characters that would resonate with people who watched the TV show.

Do I think a tiger would be awesome, a must-have Minimate in the line? Sure. Do I think it'd be tricky to make look good on a Minimate body? Yes, but I'm sure we could do it, given time. Would it look awkward in packaging? ..Probably. Okami came out great, as did the Terror Dogs, but each had their packaging problems. Also, those two were characters seen by millions of players/viewers. TWD issues top out at somethign like 400K, and that's when LootCrate buys some. Not small change, especially when we're selling to comic shops, but a casual TWD fan might wonder WTF.

Like I said, I think a zombie vs. tiger set would be great, and it might remind zombie fans of the zombie fighting the shark in Zombie 2, I just think there are many factors that go into planning a Minimates assortment, and tigers are a bit of a game-changer to the current TWD mathematical formula. But depending on how long Shiva survives, I don't see why we couldn't make him in the future.

Well, people are already asking where TRU 6 is, and I'm telling them whenever they ask, but I don't know if it's pure expectation, or if it's entirely due to the figures we showed at C2E2, or a bit of both.

I really don't know what our actual numbering plans are, or how TRU feels about it, but I'm pretty sure we're calling it 7, since it shares characters. I imagine that if we thought one method or the other would have an adverse effect on sales at TRU, then the decision would be easy. But I doubt people wouldn't buy 7 because they don't remember seeing 6. It's not a Harry Potter book.

has anyone else noticed that the walking dead building sets daryl crossbow is perfect scale for minimates and with a little tape or something around the handle itll fit perfectley into a mates hands

yknow i finally saw the movie and loved it and i have to say that after seeing it im perfectly fine with the lineup except the fact that 1. storm got a slot over hank/beast 2. everyone is clamoring over not getting characters with less than ten minutes of screen time rather than not getting one of the most important characters who had some of the most screentime and could easily have been given alternate parts to turn him from beast and hank, quite frankly i would have MUCH rather had boliver and hank over storm and logan

I believe it's because McFarlane has the show license that DST can't acquire it.

God help me if DST does get the show license because I'm a much bigger fan of the show than the book.

yeah but macfarlane also has the licence for the comics and many other companies have the rights to the tv show

With the new series on AMC, I'm really wishing that minimate releases weren't slowing down with their line.

i really wish that this liscenece covered show figures too cause lets face it the show is signifficantly more popular especially to casual collectors and even in macfarlanes case the show figures seem to sell much better than the comic ones

i personally have pretty much most of the characters from the tv series but not much from the comics but now im trying to find a decently priced negan, but then ill want rick and dwight to go along with negan then andrea to go with rick and ezikiel and jesus to.......... and the slippery slope of collecting begins again

It's an old display (I'm moving, and they're all packed away), but I love them. Definitely underappreciated. The TV line gets all the love (though I have added Bicycle Zombie, Daryl & Merle to my collection - they don't stand out too badly amidst these). I recently got Ezekial and the Andrea wave, but again, storage.

I'm really not loving the pivotal characters being made con exclusives, though. Riot Gear Governor is a great exclusive idea. But Negan, Ezekial, Jesus? What's next, a 2-pack of Carl & Sophia?

well to be fair they're more of website exclusive than con exclusive it even says so right on the package i mean ezekiel is still available and negan was there for almost a year and jesus will be available aswell after the con

So i figured this line was pretty underapreciated by collectors and is only rarely discussed in intermission periods in the official thread so i decided it deserved its own thread after the new jesus figure announced yesterday
