  1. I like the wave overall, but I'm a little disappointed in the lack of detailing on the legs of the Iron Man 'mates and the backs of most of them. I think Neo-Classic would have been better with a new chest piece similar to Silver Centurion.

  2. At least it means Blammoids are dead.

I'll be interested to see how they turn out. Mighty Muggs took up a lot of space pretty fast for me, so I can't imagine I'd buy too many of these. I am a sucker for Batman though.

  3. You know, I'm starting to wonder if we're setting our hopes way too high on the exclusives for this year. With five different box sets and a two-pack, it's possible last year was a freakish aberration, and not the new normal.

I can't imagine there won't be a SDCC exclusive. Everyone has a SDCC exclusive.

  4. Didn't Bowen, and anyone else who's made Hulkbuster lately, just base it off Granov's updated version?

Which is an improvement over the original, and far better than the WWH version.

  5. It is the EXACT same thing as if DST came along and said "we're going to do a run of 2000 Gold and Silver Spideys, because not everyone who wants one had a chance to get one. In respect to our fans, they will now come with weblines."

I'd have exactly zero problem with that. I don't think DST has any obligation, or even real benefit, to keeping the market value of anyone's collection up. If it would help grow the brand and bring in more people, go for it.

Is the SW set really pegwarming? It's the only TRU exclusive I've never seen in store, so maybe it's a regional thing. I've yet to see any boxset stick around brick and mortar TRUs for long.

  6. I paid good hard money for some of these figures. New fans should have to do the same.

    Why?

I can understand people not being thrilled with the possible selections here, but every one is either a new costume or has a new feature (ice block, mask in hand, glove with peg hole) that makes it notably different from the 'mate(s) it would be updating. I'll be happy to pick it up whoever wins.

  7. I Voted for WW2 Cap,Because I think its the Cap from the Reborn Series.

I'd agree with you there. Too bad they couldn't make the pictures a little bigger so we could get a better look at what we are voting for.

I voted Suspended Animation, but I'm a little disappointed it's not a complete ice block. I wish I could vote against the Liefeld costume.

  8. As I'm going through Mass Effect 2 for the second time, it seems to me the series would make for some great minimates. With two games and a third on the way there would be plenty of significant characters to choose from. Shepard would also be the ultimate character for variations: Mass Effect 1 or 2, male or female, multiple skin tones, hair styles, uniforms, etc. Some waves might look like:

    Wave 1

Commander Shepard in armor (male) / Miranda

    Jacob / Samara

    Mordin / Grunt

    Wave 2

Commander Shepard in armor (female) / Garrus

    Jack / Thane

    Zaeed / Kasumi

    Wave 3

Commander Shepard in uniform (male) / Joker

    Tali / Legion

    Illusive Man / Collector

  9. I share your concerns, NorthRaider. I'd hate to see that character take a step backwards. But I really like the rest of the roster.

I like the costume, even if it is a little generic, and don't have a problem with a gun. I don't want to see Steve shooting people left and right, but he is a soldier and having a sidearm seems appropriate.

  10. There is still the brown costume Wolverine to be updated...

I'm always surprised at what they haven't been planning, like Rhino and Juggernaut. Those seem like pretty obvious updates that would be easy to work into a wave.

I'm interested to see what other ideas they have for stands, I've been pretty impressed with what's been made so far.

  11. If DST continues with pack-ins like flight stands, the Phoenix base, Goblin glider, extra Sentinel parts, etc I think I could take $5 without making major changes. Any more than that and I'd have to start scaling back.

I can't believe that many non-collectors would pay much more than $8 for a pack, just because of size if nothing else.

  12. A Planet Hulk Minimate would work well enough in a World War Hulk or Hulk Through the Ages box set, and could re-use some of the parts from WW Hulk.

I'd love for them to find a way to get us a gladiator Hulk, but it would really make me want the rest of the Warbound and a gladiator Silver Surfer (or Beta Ray Bill if you want to tie in to the movie).

Found Mr. Fantastic and WW Hulk today. I wasn't expecting much from Hulk after seeing the pictures, but once I got him out of the package and removed the waist extender I actually like him quite a bit.

  13. I'm a big fan of NFL football, but I'm not sure I'd buy NFL minimates. Well, I'd probably cave once I saw them in the store, but I'd have to think about it first.

I'd really like to see Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians; kind of like some of the Playmobil stuff. A minimate Colosseum would be awesome.

  14. Well, with the Pirate mates now, I think they should come out with..............Pirate Deadpool! And his Tugboat, wench and Parrot Hydra Bob!!! C"mon, that is a pretty good idea there.

I would buy that in a heartbeat.

I'm not crazy about what I've seen so far either. They're too.. ornate? And shiny. But there's definitely potential.
