  1. Archangel's wings attach to the harness by two tiny little pegs.  They are very small, but they seemed to hold just fine for me.  The wings are also a pretty soft plastic so they can be easily deformed, but that means they can be easily fixed with hot/cold water.

  2. Does anyone have any contact info for DST customer service?  I've tried contacting them about the missing pieces from the Polaris/Jean Grey set, but all I'm hearing is crickets.

I have to say, I'm increasingly disappointed in the quality control of minimates and of the customer service.  It's hard to support a line that is consistently selling incomplete items and ignoring pleas to customer service.

  3. Awesome images!  As much as I love this wave, I'm a little bummed.  My Guido has two left arms, and Polaris is missing a cuff.  I'll email CS and see if they can help.  Otherwise it's a great wave.  These guys look great.

  4. Just got home to find this awesome package of fun waiting for me.  I haven't had a chance to open them up and really feel the glory, but one think struck me: Is this the first time Luke's logo has appeared printed on a set?  It's very cool to see it on there.

  5. Thanks for the pic and for doing all of that packing!  I'm going to have a fun weekend.  These guys AND Hot Toys IW Bucky should all be arriving over the next few days.  It's like early Christmas for me.

Packaged samples just arrived! I'll actually be getting them in hand early this time (not yet though), so that's cool. Should be late Septemberish.

Woot woooooot!  I'm stoked for this wave.  Any chance of yay shots?

Arbitrary lineups is kind of DST's thing. I suspect a lot of it comes down to who they could do a halfway decent job of with existing parts. Most of the logic for the lineup is just working backwards from there.

Although I'm not really interested in the character, I've got to say, DST is doing way more than a half-way decent job on Cosmic Ghostrider.  That I think will end up being a damn cool Minimate.

  8. With the 50th anniversary recently passing, why not necro an old thread?  Anyone else pick up the Creator Lunar Lander?  It's a fun set to complement the Saturn 5, and it can break apart for the ascent stage which is super cool.  What about the mission to Mars city sets?  They look pretty nifty, and they're based on real NASA stuff.

  9. If you were really trying to disappoint people, that's the Comic Starlord you would release.  Another Angela?  Moondragoon looks cool.  Might grab her and Warlock.  Another miss from DST.  Which is sad.

I could go for more civilians, I think the idea that they should be skipped in the MCU is kind of dumb.

There would have been plenty of possibilities for a full wave, however many figures that is now: Iron Spider redo (add gauntlets), Night Monkey, upgraded Spider-Man, Peter Parker, Mysterio, alt look Mysterio, Ned, MJ, Happy (preferably with a giant check), Stark drones, Aunt May. It wouldn't have been hard to find an assortment in there that would be palatable to most fans.

Agreed.  This movie could have easily filled a wave.  Spidey had four different costumed looks.  Mysterio obviously.  Final battle Mysterio and Stark drones would have been a super cool set.  Happy and May.  Peter, MJ, Ned.  Fury and Maria Hill with alternate heads would be cool too.  Oh, Molten Man, Hydro Man, Sandman, and Cyclone too.  The idea that an MCU movie just introduced versions of 5 comic villains and we got zero of them is disappointing.  I didn't buy any Endgame Minimates and don't feel like I missed out, but leaving this movie and not able to get anything?  Bummer.

Yes yes please yes. He recently got a Marvel Legends figure so even though the character has been utterly buried by Marvel, him getting a Minimate isn't wholy out of question at least.

In fact, most the guys you listed recently got Marvel Legends figures...

We definitely need a comic-based Cosmic wave - I am flabbergasted we have never had a comic-based Star-Lord - but sadly I can see us just getting the current versions of the movie characters which themselves are uninspired riffs on their movie versions which we've already got figures for.

Maybe something like the upcoming X-Factor wave where we have a modern Guardian with an old Guardian - like Star-Lord and Major Victory or Drax and Yondu or Mantis and Starhawk, etc.

I'm totally down for this idea.  It's genius.

  12. So in another thread people have been kind of discussing whether or not we are in the end times.  I don't know.  I consulted the Book of Minimates, but it was silent on this apocalyptic scenario.

So what's everyone's thoughts?  Are we in the end times?  Are we in a lull?  Where are Minimates sold these days and where are they marketed?  If Minimates are circling the drain, is it the natural and probably consequence of TRU closing or is there more DST could be doing?  With the rise of other similar designer/vinyl/deformed toys has the Minimates brand lost its footing in that niche?  How has the rise of the MCU and its popularity affected the brand?  Is DST doing enough to pursue new licenses and new retailer outlets?   Has DST grown complacent?

    Discuss.
