  1. I honestly dont think 75% of the people here would keep on collecting minimates if they knew from the start it would be worth less then they bought it for or couldnt atleast get out what they put into it. If you have no consideration for the value of something your simply throwing your money away. It deoesnt mean that you have some hidden side of you thats is a scalper or wants to profit from your "investment" later, but you would expect it to appreciate in value if nothing else stay at the current value.

So because I’ve grown to love this toy line and could care less about possible resale value 40 years from now, I’m throwing my money away? I buy minimates because I grew up reading Marvel and DC comics and always had a desire to have a Spiderman and Batman in the same scale along with every other comic character, because I really liked the Ghostbusters, Terminator and Back to the Future movies, because they are small and I can store all 700 plus that I have in a relatively small space. If I cared about worth I wouldn’t rip open the box as soon I get them, I’d take them directly to the bank and put them in a safety deposit box never to be touched again. But I don’t, I buy them because I enjoy them and that’s good enough for me.

  2. I don’t comprehend why the army builder is an exclusive. The exclusives are going to sell no matter what, there is no need for the added incentive of an army building as part of the exclusives. The whole reason for wanting army builders as part of the TRU waves was so the shelves wouldn’t be stuck with extras that most of us will have already picked up at our LCS or ordered online from places like AFX or Luke’s. Seeing as the current case ratios are 2:2:4:4, TRU will still be stuck with extra Human Torch/Thing’s and Mr. Fantastic/Dr. Doom’s if they are part of wave 38 or 39. For TRU wave 7; my local TRU ended up getting 4 cases, which means there were 32 total of the Silver Centurion Iron Man/Crimson Dynamo and Neo Classic Iron Man/Stilt Man packs. There are currently 27 left of those packs; if one of those would have been an army builder(Stilt Man doesn't count, though I did buy 3 of the 5 that have sold), then TRU more than likely wouldn’t be stuck with so many extras that are not going to sell anytime soon if ever

  3. As one of the early members and someone who checks the site daily; my concern is for new members who may not read every single new post that pops up. If I were a new collector who just stumbled across this place, I would have no idea what new Minimates have been announced or what is coming out. Let’s just say someone bought the new Iron Man mates at TRU and loved them now they want to know what other Iron Man mates have been released; in order for them to figure it out, they need to go through the 60 pages of Iron Man general discussion thread to see what there has been. I believe it would be more convenient for new members to have each release have a new thread (new waves, SDCC exclusives, etc.). Like with the new SDCC exclusive set, just by the title of the thread (What will the AFX & SDCC exclusive multipacks be??) a person would never know that the X force 4 pack has been announced and pics are on page whatever it is. I know it might be difficult for the mods to keep up if there is a thread for Iron Man single packs, Iron Man regular wave, and Iron Man exclusive packs, etc., but it seems to me it would be easier for someone new or someone just wanting to look at pics and not wanting to wade through 60 pages of discussion. Of course I have no real answers to the problem, just wanted to express my thoughts on the matter. Thanks to Shane and all the mods who keep this place running, I really appreciate everything you have done to make this a great forum.

  4. Wish Black Panther's slip piece wasn't so dang big, though, or had the eyes printed closer together as cesium says.

I wish my Black Panther had it's face painted on straight (or ears molded straight)...

My Back Panther had the same problem as storm 1:08's had. Hopefully DST will have extras with the face painted on correctly.

  5. The local TRU here in NW Arkansas is usually 2-3 weeks behind the rest of the nation, but my TRU actually had the new Marvel wave in today. But of course Bullseye/Moonstone wasn't in stock. I'm a bit worried as I don't even see these on eBay.

Sorry, but that was because I got them :D As of today I am only missing 4 Marvel minimates; X3 Wolverine/Jean Grey(non variant), Speacial Ops Sabretooth(variant) and the Mac Gargan Venom(only because I'm waiting til the Thunderbolts box set, but will probably end up buying it this week anyways)

    Here are some pics:

  6. I order the T2 singles from SciFi Genre as well, here is the response I got on Tuesday in regards to a question about my waiting status

We are expecting four cases of these minimates to

arrive tomorrow, and we will fill orders in the order

that they were placed. Since we expect to have them so

soon, we have changed the status on our website; I

apologize for the confusion that caused. Let me know

if I can help with anything

    else.

Since there is only one John per case you would need to be in one of the next 4 orders to get John because they only got four more cases. I placed my pre order on April 17th and have had a waiting status since early last week, so I may be looking elsewhere to get him if they don't get any more cases in.

  7. This is from DST's site:

    Battlestar Galactica Minimates Return!

The oft-rumored return of the Battlestar Galactica Minimates line can now be confirmed, owing its resurrection to The World’s Greatest Toy Store, Toys"R"Us. The first new wave of Battlestar Galactica Minimates, featuring updated versions of fan favorites and never before seen characters, will be available this summer exclusively at Toys"R"Us stores nationwide, and online at Toysrus.com, with additional waves coming later this year.

The Battlestar Galactica Minimates line began in 2007, and during its production run, over 60 different Minimate versions of the hit series' robotic Cylons and human crew were released. However, when the line was discontinued, fans were left without several key characters featured in the later seasons of the epic sci-fi adventure - including the human-model Cylons and the Final Five survivors of Earth. In addition to all-new characters, these Toys"R"Us exclusive waves will include new versions of the show’s main cast - such as Admiral William Adama, Lt. Kara “Starbuck” Thrace and Lee “Apollo” Adama.

“We've been searching for the right partner to help continue the Battlestar Galactica Minimate line for a while, and working with Toys"R"Us on this project has been a dream come true for all of us,” remarked Chuck Terceira, Director of Diamond Select Toys & Collectibles. “The truly exciting part about this announcement is how new fans of the show will be able to experience Battlestar Galactica Minimates for the first time, while customers familiar with the original line will finally be able to complete their collections.”

The first assortment of all-new Battlestar Galactica Minimates is scheduled to arrive at Toys"R"Us stores nationwide and online at Toysrus.com beginning in June and will feature the following figures:

Leoben aka Number Two & Kara “Starbuck” Thrace

D’Anna Biers aka Number Three & Lee “Apollo” Adama

Admiral William Adama & Razor Cylon Warrior

John Cavill aka Number One & Tylium Mine Cylon

Aaron Doral aka Number Four & Stealth Cylon

Each two-pack will be available for $6.99 and includes two Minimates - each standing over two inches tall, with an incredible 14 points of articulation. As always, the Minimates feature removable and interchangeable parts that unlock endless combinations, while parallel Minimate lines allow fans to combine their favorite television, movie and comic characters in one cohesive set - including characters based on Marvel Comics, Ghostbusters, Terminator 2, Star Trek, Back to the Future and more!

Further Battlestar Galactica offerings are also in the works, including a second assortment of Toys"R"Us exclusive Minimates as well as a few surprises that long-time fans of the break-out toy line will recognize. For more information about what the future holds for this growing line, please visit www.artasylum.com and www.diamondselecttoys.com.

  8. I actually saw a full page ad for these in one of the comics I picked up yesterday and at the bottom it said "available at Toys R Us"

I think that is a great idea it may draw in new collectors

Here is the scan of that ad from yesterday's Toyfare. looks like the employees at torysrus are going to get to know me quite well :D
