  1. The two box sets from the last two Iron Man movies both had "battle damaged" versions of regular wave armors. I'm hoping that's not the case with this one, since it looks like there will be plenty of other armors to choose from!

  2. The sales of movie-based Minimates keep the comic line vital. There are still plenty of comic-based Mates coming out this year -- 48, 50, 51, TRU 15, TRU 16, various box sets -- and we will likely get another assortment in before the end of the year.

But separately numbering the lines is a mere technicality -- we'd still put out the same number of assortments per year. We don't want to put out more Marvel Minimates than the market can bear.

And a cinematic "Best of" would involve a dozen licenses from a couple of studios, but maybe in the future something like that might be possible.

The Avengers movies are pretty much "Best of" in themselves ;)

And I love the movie-mates, I am missing a few from Iron Man 2 but I have the rest. I hope we get Bearded Logan in Wave 52!

  3. That's cool that they are revealing a new armor everyday on the Ironman facebook page. The first four (Marks 17 ,33, 38 and 40) look very nice! I'd take 'mates of all of them smile.png

Oh man, those are wonderful looking. I would take any and all. Has there been word on the number of mates in the boxset?

I don't think it will be a 34-pack lol. Maybe, if they are armors, they'll have interchangeable parts to get more looks out of each one? Just speculating.

  4. I voted for black.

Also, I'd personally like to see a length that matched the inside of the minifig display case on your store, so these could be used inside of the case instead of bluetak or something like that.

Those cases are two small to fit 8 side by side. These stands would be 16 inches long.

  5. so I wont post them here incase of spoilers, but marvel has been posting stock art of Tony's many new armors and will continue to post them for the days to come, and they look fantastic biggrin.png

really hoping we see an armory box set biggrin.png

i'm sure everyone is hoping the same.ironman2.gifironmanclassicsilver.gifironmanclassicgold.gifironmanstealth.gifironmanultimate.gif

  6. I don't have pricing information yet, nor samples, as a one-off sample would be expensive to have produced. From my conversations with the factory rep, the black and clear would be the same price, and the mirror finish would be slightly more expensive, but not much.

Also I could not make them hollow, but it would be possible to make the ends longer and fold them down like a table, similar to the acrylic display shelves in our store. In that way you could make a stackable display. That is actually a really good idea. I could potentially offer a few different height levels. Perhaps that is another thing to consider when voting!

    Awesome! Can't wait!

  7. Luke, luke, luke.... I have a great idea. Is there any way to make the bottom hollow and make them stackable?? (Much like the pieces that make up these in your store) That would be so awesome to make them easily displayable in tiered rows on a long shelf!

I am so excited about these and I would order at least 30 in an instant!

  8. There should actually be more AIM guys out there than any other army builder though, as he was packed in Wave 28 AND TRU wave 5 (or there abouts)

If I were a moderator I'd ban me from this thread for being a pedantic ,boring old fart but you'd miss me .....wouldn't you ? huh.png

The AIM guys arrived with Wave 25 (not 28) which was notoriously difficult to obtain ,quite why has never been adequately explained but I reckon it involved TRU & their newly developed relationship with DST . ......I have no proof but I could hold a decent argument as to why I believe that.

So......with regards to rarity Wave 25 always 'felt' rare in comparison to many Marvel waves & I used to think that maybe one production run was shared between TRU & the LCS wave ,bear in mind that the AIM/Cap set from the contemporary Wave 3 (not 5) was described on the packaging as an 'exclusive' although both figures found their way into wave 25 (?) . Latterly I have become totally convinced that there was no 'sharing' purely because there were in fact 2 'runs' of the same AIM guy ohmy.png ,I'm not saying there are two distinct versions but I know there were 2 runs . TRU wave 3 War Machine is also subtly different from the Wave 23 version ,the Wave 3 Wolverine is subtly different from the Wave 28 Wolverine ,the wave 3 Sabretooth is subtly different from the wave 28 ..............need I go on ?

TRU Wave 3 is unique & got all the attention due to the relatively rare Moonstone/Bullseye pack but IMHO it is the rarest wave of all ......i'll concede however that very few people would give a damn & I certainly don't blame you biggrin.png

Yep, they were a gunmetal blue.

Was Wave 3 the only TRU wave with minimates that had minor differences from their LCS counterparts?

And more importantly, do you need both versions for a collection to be considered "complete"?

  9. Hey Donny,

Sorry if it seemed like I was targeting you. I literally googled aim minimates and your photo was first. I don't hate you at all, like Shanester said if I could have your AIM army I would in a heartbeat. If anything, props to you for building a solid collection!

  10. I actually think there are two different definitions of "rare" we could also use, related in part to perceived value. Some figures, like the ones released at TRU and perhaps Suncoast etc., are produced and released in large numbers, but are not as readily available on the secondary market (i.e., eBay) as some others that all fall into collectors' laps through comic shops and online distribution. So there are all the figures in existence, then there are all the figures in existence we can reasonably expect to find for sale/trade, and the latter kind of rarity is the one we as collectors are ultimately concerned with IMO. The foreign C3 releases and foreign store exclusives may also exist in relatively high numbers, but we would never know it.

Interesting.. I guess in this case, the "latter rarity" as you put it, would make Justin Hammer "rarer" than Battle Damaged Hammer Drone because in theory there were the same amount produced, but Justin Hammer seems so much harder to find! (The Drones are all over ebay and amazon)

  11. Long live my lucky number #8

Hes been through a hell of a lot of members, hes probably been in the hands of more MMMV members than any other minimate.

He came from one to me, while I had him he met Me, Danny, TBT and Rad, he left me for another member and left that member to his present home. (I think)

Aside from the long lost Renfield I'm not sure of many other Minimates that have personally met at least 7 MMMV members.

Wow, there's your story. That could be such a neat narrative journey to take – the history of Minimates and "passing of the torch" from one generation of collectors to the next, all rolled into one.

Great job on this, I really enjoyed it!

That's the value of keeping it in the bag, I guess. You can identify it and know its history!

I wonder if any of the previous owners have photos of them with it that you could add to your documentary. It would be a pretty awesome way to expand on the multiverse topic in the film.
