  1. I got my sets last night. I was not impressed with the idea of a Venom TTA set, but these Minimates are fantastic. I really like them all but bulked up Venom really reminds me of the initial Brock Venom from comics. Nicely done.

Totally agree. I caved in and bought one and I'm very happy with it. Also I was wondering why we didn't get any black webline. I figured that would've been easy to do...

  2. Yeah these 'best of' series are amazing! I just started collecting in September and I'm up to 60+ minimates collected so far. Going to totally buy all of series 2 with the exception of maybe Venom/Daredevil. I'm perfectly content with the DD that came with Kingpin. And Venom... man I really need a Venom... I might just have to break down and buy the Venom boxset. And Martin, I love your Wave 3 ideas.

  3. Ok so honestly I'm a collector on a budget. I love the Venom Unleashed 'mate (aka bulked up). But I'm not really too interested in the rest of the box set. Do you guys think the 'Best of' Venom will comparable...? Doesn't look like it will be a bulked up one though :/ Just looks like only the chest will be bigger.

  4. i could give two sh!t$ about the ultimate or exiles universes either. They were just padding to soften the blow of me asking for even more AoA stuff. I'd love to see AoA Colossus, Shadowcat, Storm, Bishop etc ... get made still & would count them in my 'Variant Wish List'.

I'm with you my friend. LOOOOOVE AoA. Finally got the last couple of 'mates last week that I needed to complete the current AoA collection. I'm really surprised they never made a Nate Grey 'mate. He would've been perfect with the AoA Sinister. I'm not artiscally inclined but I'm so tempted to try and make customs like Luke's and Jeff's.

Mirymate - can you please alphabetize the main list in your first post? It would make it a lot easier to find what has already been posted.

You're gonna make me cut and paste this into a word file and turn this into work aren't you?<_<

I'll get right on that, right after I finished those TPS reports.

Don't forget to put the new cover sheets on your TPS reports. Did you get the memo?

  5. Awesome! Nice to see you so passionate about completing a team, really paid off with that awesome group shot.

This was THE storyline for me growing up with comics. Joe mad's art was unlike anything I had ever seen and I loved the choice to use bright colored costumes set against a war torn backdrop. This was long before the Internet so picking up each issue was new and exciting. Finding out which characters were major players, who had turned evil and the various relationships between them was always a surprise. I had tried back in the day to collect the toy biz aoa figs but came up short trying to get cyclops and gambit. After I had read in wizard that the line wouldn't continue past the basic line I was devastated. It was that announcement that lead me to customizing in the first place. I bought a second weapon x and with what little knowledge I had of making customs I dove into making my own dark beast figure. What a train wreck! I did everything wrong: wrong paint ( I only knew of testers enamel) crayola modeling clay, and painted over the joints. It was a sticky sloppy mess...I vowed never to make another custom again.

I had a change of heart when my friend Chris bought me the target two packs of the fantastic four. These were my first minimates. I inspected these strange little Lego esque figures and began swapping parts and more importantly how easy it was to do so. The seed was planted. Years later I had bought several more and when DST announced the two aoa sets, I knew I was getting myself into something special. I could finally complete my long lost collection and not have to lift a finger for customs. I was on cloud 9....until I heard yet again that the line wouldn't continue past a few two packs. However, having bought several mates and several duplicate characters in multiple costumes, I could just as easily make my own. This time however, I had the Internet on my side and stumbled across a little site, theminimatefactory and in turn to the Minimate multiverse.

I've traded parts with many of you here, received much positive feedback. Without this community I wouldn't be posting here now. So a special thanks to all of you, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have had in creating them.

Jeff, your AoA customs are a work of art. They are as good as Luke's. I especially like the X-Man one ;) And I totally agree with you on the AoA storyline. When I was younger I acquired over half of the whole series. This year I bought the entire collection from someone on ebay. I can't believe I waited that long to read the books I never had. Do you need any issues? I have quite a few doubles now. You could make me couple of your customs to trade  hehe

  6. Welcome CableNathan. You've started collecting at a good time - this is one of the coolest waves in a long time

Thanks! I love the current wave too. It's too bad that I started so late though considering how expensive it is trying to acquire the older wave sets. But I will persevere and keep looking for deals! :)

  7. @Zach– Brilliant use of lens flare in the Dazzler pic; that really makes the shot!

@CableNathan– Nice to see another Vegas collector (as long as you don't start scalping! ) Vegas has been pretty dry for the past couple years; most of the LCSs have stopped carrying Minimates. Comic Oasis has started stocking them again, so I expect they'll get wave 47 this week. Also, if you're looking to pick up some older stuff, there's a place at the Swap Meet on Sahara and Oakey that has a bunch of previous waves and box sets. They may give you a little discount if you tell them the tall guy sent you. ;)

Oh sweet I was planning on stopping by the swap meet last weekend but didn't get around to it. I will go this weekend for sure then. I'll be sure to mention you, haha. I was hoping Comic Oasis would get the new wave but none of them had any clue if they would get it last time I went there. I had to drive across town to maximum comics to get mine.

  8. First post! I'm a new addict. It's hard to find the new Outback sets here in Las Vegas. As of Saturday only ONE comic shop in town had them. But I got my Brood sets. Then I went and bought a Havok/Storm pack from TRU. Saturday was a good minimate day. As soon as I get up the nerve to spend a bundle on the good Betsy my 80's X-Men collection will be complete.
