Here's a little bit of useless trivia. Maybe some of you noticed, but the angry villager isn't just some generic minimate. He's actually the character of Ludwig from the movie. Who's Ludwig you ask? Why he's the father of poor little Maria (the young girl the monster accidently drowns). I could only find the picture below, but if you watch the movie, you can see his distictive hat and apron. Just thought I'd share. Going back under my rock now.
Note: The hat looks more accurate to the minimate's when he first appears in the movie.
Awesome trivia! The character is actually important, as his news of Maria's death caused the entire village to turn against Frankenstein's Monster.

It's frustrating that the three mates I want to see the most (Chris, Jill, Storm) aren't pictured!

I think the release of dracula and frankenstein monster will help move wolfman and creature sets. More people will impulse buy a bunch of monsters.
It's also going to help that if the villager is still getting made the TRU sets will have 6 different characters rather then just 3 meaning the casual buyer will want more sets. Last time you could get the Transforming Wolfman/GitD Gilman and get both monsters and skip the other two. Or get the other two and skip the two variant monsters if you needed their default look, this time if you want Frank, Drac, and the Bride you need to pick up 3 different sets (and then you get the Doctor, a villager, and either Harker or Hellsing too. who, with exception of Harker, are pretty visually interesting in their own right)
A great line-up would be:
1. Dracula/Van Helsing
2. Frankenstein's Monster/Villager
3. The Bride/Dr. Frankenstein
4. BW Dracula/Renfield
5. BW Frankenstein's Monster/Bride
Then that would leave Mina, Elizabeth, and colored Renfield as the exclusives for the boxset.

i was gonna say the same thing about banshee's hair, it needs to be shaggy. Another example of the same hair piece that sunspot uses http://www.minimatedatabase.com/figure.php?i=726&n=Magneto -- still don't think that would be perfect but not bad.
Juggernaut has a hairpiece that's shaggy-ish and red http://www.minimatedatabase.com/figure.php?i=1115&n=Juggernaut
Juggernaut's hair is probably the best option for people who don't like to paint.
As for the face, I used Chun Li because she was screaming...however, that is mostly just a placeholder since the head looks cartoony and female. The only other "screaming minimates" I can think of are from the Ghostbuster's line... but they would all look too old to be a teen.

I just got back from seeing this, and I have to say I am disappointed we are only getting this one wave. Banshee, Moira, Riptide, Angel, Final Magneto (especially), and Darwin could all use some Minimate love. Now I need to find a better hairpiece for Havok. I think a movie Cap hairpiece might work.
Havok's hair is definitely closer to Movie Steve Rogers than the minimate version:
*Thanks to Minimate Database for the Captain America image

I saw it this afternoon and thought it was fantastic, and probably my favorite X-Men film. It is definitely an adult movie, and Professor X and Magneto are superb as the leading characters. Kevin Bacon also did well as Shaw. The characters of Mystique, Havok, Beast, and Banshee are also fun.
There are some awkward inconsistencies between later films (Moira's age, occupation, accent; etc), but the film still works well. My only complaint was January Jones as Emma Frost. While she looked the part, she seemed off to me. Maybe it was because she was taking orders throughout the movie, she seemed to lack confidence.
I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel. Hopefully they keep the same cast/crew. It is refreshing to have an X-Men movie centered on Professor X, Magneto, and the X-Men... not just Wolverine.

I still think the reason they're on clearance at TRU is because unless you want the black and white ones there's no reason to buy the two packs, because if you want the 'mates the box set is the better deal. Maybe if they'd made one movie TRU exclusive, like a Hunchback wave or Phantom or something.
At my TRU they only have 1 or 2 Wolf-Man packs left. However, I agree with your point. A TRU exclusive would drive up sales. Or maybe just make all the TRU packs black and white, and have LCS sell the colored versions.
I personally can't wait for these! I saw Omega Red today at TRU, but turned him down. Now I feel foolish.

Great Blob custom! The face works perfect and the body is nicely done.

Joe, did you read the comics? I don't want to spoil anything here.
I haven't used a decal, but if you look up which head I used for him, you might get a clue of what you'll finder underneath these glasses.
____
Oh I didn't read your head choice for Cassidy, it would work perfect!
-
They all look fantastic! I feel that is a near-perfect Phoenix minimate, much better than the Secret Invasion.
-
The entire Preacher set is amazing! I feel you did an exemplary job in choosing the specific parts that best represented the characters. I really want to see what's under Cassidy's sunglasses...
-
^^ Nah, you don't
Is it that bad?
It definitely isn't as good as Scream 1+2. It tries too hard to make fun of Hollywood, and Neve Campbell isn't in it as much.
I am excited for Scream 4, Captain America, Harry Potter, X-Men, Green Lantern, The Hangover II, and Thor (kind of in that order).

Mine has a single Agent Zero and two Silver Fox packs. They have been marked down to $3.98 for quite some time.
By far the most minimates in my TRU are Iron Man 2, with almost 15+ packs. Universal Monsters has about 5-6 packs left, and Ghostbusters are weening down as well. All the comic wave minimates have been sold out for quite some time.
-
Alan Scott and Mr. Terrific look great! It is awesome that you share the decals too!
After viewing your custom, I decided to check out Axe Cop. Now I can't stop reading it! Your custom of both Axe Cop and Dr. McNinja are superb!

Sweet looking Phantom Joe. What did you use for his hair and where'd you score that scaled candelabra?
Thanks! The hair a general hairpiece (I believe Tony Stark), I just removed the top. I then just used sculpy to create his thinning hairline.
The candelabra is from the Buffy Palz line, from either Darla or The Master. I customized the entire cast of Buffy and Angel from Palz figures, so I had some extra candelabras laying around.
-
That looks very clean and crisp, nice work! They definitely have Superboy in casual attire these days. What's on his wrist?
-
Brilliant. I've Always liked the original look. I think because of the ingenuity used back then to create things.
Thanks! I appreciate the original deformed look as well. It took so much time, effort, and innovation for Lon Chaney (The Phantom) to create his make-up, whereas now it could be done easily, especially with digital effects.
-
Thanks for compliments/suggestions! I could see the Leader's head as a possibility, since it is elongated and has a similar hairline. However, I actually just finished up my Phantom using a modified Ghostbusters Janosz head. He already had the surprised look I was going for, when his mask was removed by Christine:
Also, I cheated a bit in my custom. Rather than use the 1925 mask, I used the 1943 version, simply because I felt it was more iconic for the Phantom.
1925 vs 1943:
Okay, here is the custom. He can either wear a mask, or show off his hideous monster face. To get the best of both, I created a minimate mannequin (I suppose the Phantom stole it from the Opera House dressing room), which displays the mask and cape, and allows the deformed face to be shown:
And here is a group shot, they are waiting for Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Bride, and (fingers crossed) The Mummy.
Thanks for looking! Any comments/criticism is appreciated!

Normally I would, but a lot of my X-Men Moviemates broke when they accidentally got crushed.
Since the X-Men movie uniforms were more rare, I just put them into New X-Men uniforms. I got like 7 New X-Men uniforms (Wolverine/Jean) for 15 bucks. I'm okay with it, I'm pretty much over the excitement of the movies anyhow.
-
If anyone needs some Ghostbusters my TRU has a plentiful supply. At last count there were over 50 2 packs of varying waves. Not kidding.
That is so strange, my TRU is almost sold out of all waves, except the Universal Monsters.
-
Feel free to use any recipes/plans, though I'm sure you could create an excellent one yourself. I was also thinking of using a Buffalo Bill or Hannibal Lecter head, and then modifying it.
My goal is to complete all these monsters, which I consider the major ones:
Universal Monsters Minimates

I know what you mean. Dracula, Wolf-Man, Frankenstein's Monster, the Creature, and the Mummy have all been redone with later sequels and remakes... where they eventually became colorized. The Bride is isolated to one movie (really one 10 minute scene). While her role is iconic, and a major part of movie history, she has never been redone or updated.
Additionally, while I love the minimate, I always thought her skin was a very pale white, whereas the minimate has a peach tone to it. However, I've never seen any color pictures from the set, so I have no idea what her coloring really entailed.
