  1. Ok thanks for clearing that up, I have this strange dislike for Ultimates. I really can't come up with anything concerning the NOW! stuff so I'll just take another stab in the dark.

    Human Torch/Mole Man
    Lizard/Black suit Spiderman
    Professor X/Juggernaut
    Antman/Wasp

Edit: The Spiderman/Goblin pack is definitely an updated re-release though. Also we got MvC Doom and Best Of Doom only months apart, Daredevil only a year (I think). Thor from the Stormbreaker set was only months apart from his Best Of release and they were largely similar except color. I personally don't mind, I truly believe the Best Of 'mates are the best versions of each character, but there's definitely a pattern with the first two waves.

  2. I guess I can throw this out the window then.

    Human Torch/War Machine
    Cyclops/Magneto
    Carnage/Ben Reilly~Scarlet
    Hawkeye/Ultron

Edit: Fml if it's Ultimate designs of characters from the first two waves.

  3. I think that's only part of the reason; it seems like X-Force has gotten attention far out of proportion to their actual popularity or importance. Sure, there's a half dozen people here really excited about it but if we were an accurate reflection of what the market actually wanted there wouldn't be Alpha Flight sets on clearance everywhere.

I think the "inaccurate reflection" thing works both ways. Just because there are fewer people HERE who want old-school re-dos of X-Force characters than wanted a complete Alpha Flight, that doesn't mean there aren't more fans out there in the world. Case in point: Marvel has two X-Force titles on the stands, and NO Alpha Flight. Hell, even Puck defected to X-Force. Factor in the X-Force movie buzz and the fact that Cable and Domino used to buddy around with Deadpool, undeniably one of the most popular characters in the MU right now, and X-Force might be more popular AND important than some people think. I hope the set will sell well. But we'll see!

It's the same old cycle of doubt, hesitation, then universal acclaim. This box set will be fine.

  4. Zack, I totally agree the 'mates you guys made are great, and I will be buying both sets, but you can't deny Marvel is using dull designs.

This isn't even about minimates, so sorry for derailing but I just don't find any Marvel movie merch appealing, I basically will buy any minimates though.

EDIT: I take that back a tiny bit, if your ASM2 Spider-Man mate has those big white eyes as in the pics we've seen, I'd be in love.

  5. After passing on Thor 2, I can't help wondering if TRU will be taking Minimates based on The Winter Soldier. Or if DST will offer them at all, even at specialty.

I see Wolverine minimates being a cause of this too. No matter how much we like them, the designs of Marvel movies are a little bland sometimes. Doesn't translate well to....anything.

  6. So I finally got a few of these and they're great, I'll be buying multiples of most sets. This line has to be a lock for a few waves. The only disappointment was my Janeway/Seven of Nine set. It doesn't even bother me that it was an extra Sisko and Dukat, but the wrong arms on Sisko really bother me.

So! If anyone could help me out with a Janeway/Seven set I'd be extremely grateful, packaged or loose, and I don't mind if Seven of Nine is a little off center either.

EDIT: Also, does anyone else have a spare TRU Picard? Mine came with bright red arms, and a dark red chest block.

  7. With the frequency that Wolverine gets made I think it would be nice if there was a yellow costume and eventually brown costume Wolvie Mate released with short legs. I wouldn't want it on every Wolverine but if they are going to keep making him (and they are) I think it would make for a nice change of pace. If torso risers are ok for characters who are notably tall, why not short legs for those that are notably short?

    Agreed.

Another option would be to pack-in an extra pair of legs, like we often get the extra set of arms or hands.

That doesn't seem viable, because the extra parts we usually get are just display options. We've gotten height options on characters like Ant Man, but that's his whole gimmic. Keep short characters to kids and extreme cases like Puck.

Also, I'd like to raise awareness for more bulked up characters, most importantly, Lizard with a sculpted head, and Abomination. We should be worrying about this way more.
