  1. Surprising seeing visibly empty seats after that uhh...second to last match.

The other thing was how awful the commentary is getting. It's too self-aware, saying we're all going to remember this moment for 30 more years and it's an "instant classic". I GET the hype machine, I get they're being fed lines but it is so unnatural and over the top. This was every match, every skit or bad music performance of the night too.

Also all 9 commentators standing up and clapping in unison like robots, that was really creepy and done poorly. No one, NO ONE does that without rehearsing it before hand and that's what I mean about how unnatural it all is now.

Please don't screw up Cesaro now, he had easily one of the best moments of the night.

  2. Kevin Nash had a good story about Vince and Ross. Vince was telling Nash "Sometimes you just gotta eat shit, right Jim?" and Jim was sitting back behind them and he kinda mumbled "..Yeah"

There's tons of stories about Vince feeding lines to the commentary crew about Ross while he was working there and obviously since he's been gone. There's obviously something there, it's really sad.

  3. I am constantly amazed that it's on a network. I can't imagine watching it with commercial breaks and dumb NBC promos. We have five episodes left in the first season, then it's on to S2 on Hulu.

S2 literally has parts I had to turn my head at. It really gets intense.

  4. Looking back at my ASM 'mates, I can't help but realize the color scheme on Spider-Man is much darker and movie accurate. I'm curious why that didn't happen with this Spider-Man? All promotional material I've seen indicates a close color match.

In all honesty, this ASM2 Spider-Man looks way more like a comic version already compared to last wave. ASM2 is much brighter and lacking some of the detail of the first ASM 'mate.

It is what it is though, just an observation.

  5. So TNA's tv deal with Spike ends in the fall and there's still not a renewal, while re-runs of Cops airing before TNA are doing higher numbers apparently. Without a tv deal, advertisers all jump ship, there's hardly any revenue from the buildings and ppv's either.

I know we talk about TNA going out of business every year, but it's never been this bad. I can't imagine another network picking up TNA with how bad the numbers are. I think at that point, TNA would literally be on equal ground with ROH, having most older and expensive talent leave.

Spike will probably just keep TNA. They deserve each other.

  6. We can't make in-scale Sentinels or Galacti. We CAN make in-scale raccoon people. And this would not be the first time an official Marvel height was questioned by someone.

That Wolverine debate was ridiculous. I don't mind Racoon being a lifeless husk, but I think the 2" rule is a good one.

  7. My impression reading thoughts elsewhere is that a lot of casual fans do feel the way you do TM2, as apparently lots of comic movie fans have never read FF, and if they did, it probably wasn't the classic stuff. But undeadpool is right--they had dated comics, but so did the Avengers, X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk, and DC. . .oh, DC. DC's comics through the mid-60s or so were pretty freakin' bad across the board. Fantastic Four reads like a great Hemingway novel next to those. But the Lee/Kirby stuff had heart, humor, and charm, as did the bulk of the earliest Marvel stuff. The characters were totally likable in the best way! And that run was the origin point of some of the most iconic characters and situations in the history of Marvel--Doom, the Skrulls, the Kree, Silver Surfer, Galactus, the Watcher, the Inhumans, modern Namor, and of course, the Yancy Street Gang. The John Byrne run hearkened back to the spirit of the early comics, focusing on the family dynamics and mystery, action, and excitement. He was clearly reveling in the joy of writing a comic book where there were no real limits to what he could do.

Maybe I'm naive to think that that stuff is universal, but I really think what Marvel Studios has done is tap into the essence of classic Marvel--embodied, and perhaps personified best by the Fantastic Four. What Iron Man and Avengers were? That's what Fantastic Four should be like on the big screen. Not half-assed comedy from the Director of Barber Shop, not the joyless convoluted mess of Man of Steel, but what Guardians of the Galaxy seems to be. And as I think has been proven pretty well, audiences do want that kind of thing.

We need a "Post of the Day" and this needs to be it.

  8. Even non-fans know Spider-Man was bit by a spider, Batman lost his parents, Superman is from another planet. I don't consider anything that happened in ASM incredibly important in that aspect. Nothing happened that we didn't know was already going to happen, I'm not saying it wasn't done well, just that it was an origins story.

My biggest gripe is Peter completely ignoring Uncle Ben's killer and just never mentioning it again, never going after the guy, that was horrible. Especially since it was handled so well in the Raimi movies.

And as far as the post-credits scene of ASM goes, Marc Webb said he cut about 20 minutes concerning the parents. So the 20 second post credit scene was a little underwhelming for me. Actually, it's probably a good thing because in the cut footage they hint that Peter was intentionally bit so they could give him the powers which would be incredibly lame and completely undermine the purpose of why he's a crime fighter.

I guess super hero movies are evolving into CYOA for writers and studios. Also it's a quick cash grab and not much thought is being put into them.

  9. I kinda wish they'd just gone ahead and made FF3.

    Politician likes TM2 Dinobot's post.

We're in agreement about this and trying to salvage the Spider-Man movies. It felt like something had already been built and there was a good cast of characters and they just threw it all away.

  10. I'm thinking it's the movie studios not revealing designs and it resulting in lackluster movie waves. No Rhino for this wave, just Aleksei which is a bit of a disappointment. It would have been pretty easy for DST to do a transforming Rhino if they had the reference. Also we didn't get Silver Samurai, or final battle Killian from IM3, and final battle villains from other movies.

Another interesting note, the only reason we know the old ASM suit is in this movie is because Zach told us. It's not in any promotional material, hasn't been mentioned or seen and as Zack said, might not even make the final cut of the movie. As far as "casual buyers" go, saying there's more Spider-Man figures to appeal to them isn't exactly true. It just means they must have had such little reference or such an early draft of a script, this is all they could do. Find me one casual buyer or fan who would rather have an old Spidey suit that might not even make the movie, than the new villain in a really flashy armor suit.

Obviously it's not DSTs fault but it seems like we're getting less variety with every movie wave, and recently Thor just completely losing a wave wasn't good. New Captain America looks great though! Hopefully they can work things out with the studios and get some better references.

  11. I don't know, I think WM30 has to have a huge WM moment that they can market and cheer about for years to come. I said it at the top of the page, but I'm hoping it ends up like Bret at WM10. They can screw with Bryan for the rest of the year and get their heat back.

  12. Here's some notes:

-Attendence was around 900-1200 with some people saying it was 1500 which...isn't possible from fan pictures posted from the arena.

-Fans damange controlling saying that 1500 is a good crowd. Really? Your second best ppv of the year?

-Bobby Lashley came back to a smattering of applause from 14 people in the audience.

-Hardy's new gimmic was being made fun of by the commentators. That's awkward and shows how little faith anyone has in the company.

    -MVP made zero iMPACT!

-Muta was cool but it'd be better in ROH.

    -Minus 5 stars

EDIT: Bully Ray face turn is weird too, he must be leaving soon.
