  1. Your judging was right and I'd have loved to see another legendary match between Germany and England. Instead it's Italy Germany is facing next after that loss last night. I really enjoyed England's defensive efforts against that incredibly quick and dangerous team of Italian strikers. But on the other end... not so much.

Yes, it was a shame we couldn't manage to make that date with Germany though tbh I think you would have humiliated us based on last night's performance lol. You are right that we played well defensively but as you say we had very little going forward - maybe something to do with not being able to get the ball! Anyway, good luck with Italy - I think you really have a great chance of winning not just that game but the whole thing actually!

  2. Faults aside, he created one of my favorite characters of the last decade, Jessica Jones. A character that was never originally meant to be anything more than a way to tell his style of stories within the existing Marvel Universe. Seriously, if you haven't read Alias, do yourself a favor and pick up the full run, I think it went 38 issues.

I would second that. It was actually Alias that got me back into reading comic books as an adult after a pretty long hiatus. I particularly liked the purple man arc (hmmm, him and jessica would make a cool 2 pack) though I seem to recall there was a little (massive understatement!!) swearing in it so be warned if you don't like that in your comics! I also loved Bendis' Dark Avengers and to keep this vaguely on topic that was a team that I was really happy to see completed so quickly through con exclusives - let's hope that Alpha Flight falls into the same category.

  3. Awesome set of figures with great accessories - thanks DST! This is what con exclusive boxsets are all about! Of course the only problem is that now I really want to see set #2 - it seems to be the lot of the minimate collector to get an eagerly anticipated reveal only to have another one set up right away - and just to be clear I wouldn't want to change a thing!

  4. A thought: Zach has said this set won't be Avengers-focused. He's also said something to the effect of "not too much obscurity, but it should fill a few holes." I kind of doubt this will be the Alpha Flight set everyone is expecting. If AFX is doing that, I suspect it will be either at NYCC, which is a less right-now-in-pop-culture and more comics-focused audience, or one of the direct sale box sets they've been doing around Christmastime. Later in the year would also line it up more with the TRU and theoretical wave 48 (?) two packs.

So, if they're moving past the Avengers saturation of the past few months, the next logical tentpole to build this set around is Spider Man. Perhaps they're doing a set kind of like the Stormbreaker one, except with Spidey, Lizard, and a couple fan-requested Spidey characters.

What's an iconic Spidey/Lizard story arc with some other characters we haven't seen? Spidey/Modern Lizard (a sculpted Battle Beasts-style head would be cool!)/Calypso/Updated Mary Jane? Maybe Morbius, as the two of them have been working together in recent stories? Ana Kravenoff?

    Just spitballing... :)

I certainly have a hunch we will see a morbius pretty soon as he wasn't in the wave 50 poll despite scoring highly on the "most wanted" list here so you may be right.

And yeah, I agree there's plenty on that secret wars cover that would be cool. Somehow I just can't forget titania!

  5. Your guys played very well. The first have wasn't that exciting at all, but the second was very much fun to watch! Especially liked that goal by Walcott two minutes after he came into the game. Well done!

Thanks, I wish I could really take the credit lol. You're right, it was quite a good game though - now if we can only learn that you are supposed to mark people at free kicks we might even win another match! Anyway, judging by your profile, I'm guessing your team are in action tonight - I'd wish you good luck too but I somehow don't think you'll need it! ;)

  6. Can you... tell us how all of the others are doing?

Average! However, that may be due to to my averaging their individual success rates. Individually, they're doing very well, so-so and awful, depending on the character.

    Does that help?

Hey Kind of late to the party on this one as I'm a (very!) new member but just wanted to say I love the idea of the poll, so thsnks for taking the time to do it! :) Apologies if this has been asked already but when the results are known will you just be announcing the winners or will we get to see a full list of who came where in each poll and what percentage of votes they got? I for one would find that very interesting, especially as I'm suspecting my choices won't win. (I'm looking at you black knight, songbird and hammer agents! lol)

  7. Thanks for the welcomes everyone. :) I must say MinnesotaIceman I like your wishlist!

Welcome to the 'verse and don't be sorry, I liked that rambling of yours.

Oh, and in case you're a fan, good luck with the Swedes tonight.

Thanks on both counts Bob. I am a fan as it happens, and I think that luck may be needed! My years of watching England play football tend to keep my expectations suitably low these days! lol

  8. Hi Everyone

Well, I guess the title says it all really! I've been collecting minimates for a long time and lurking around the multiverse for quite a while. I've been tempted to join for ages but I think that the current polls etc are what have finally tempted me to do so as it seems to be a very exciting time to be a minimate fan! As you may have guessed from that my main interest is in the marvel comics line, though I do have minimates from several other lines such as the marvel movies, universal monsters, trek, etc. Within the marvel universe, although I love all new marvel 'mates, my wishlist is topped by the as yet unmade classic avengers and thor related characters and villains (so yes, I was delighted when kang appeared recently! ;)) In case anyone is therefore curious as to why stegron, along with the number one, is in my multiverse name, that is simply because he was the villain in the very first marvel comic I read as a kid, and with my love of dinosaurs already in place, a new interest was born that has been sustained to this day! I don't think there is much else to add for now, except that I'm another of that fairly rare breed of members from the uk and that, having exactly zero talent in customising or photography myself, I am often in awe of the great things I see on the multiverse. Anyway, sorry to have rambled on a bit, but I will look forward to hopefully interacting with you all from time to time about my favourite hobby. :)
