  1. Finally got this in the mail today, and for somebody who's not that much of a Venom fan, I'm really digging this set. One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is how good the Eddie Brock face tampos are. Compare to the old Transformation Venom:

The calm face and the crazy face are very similar even though the tampos are slightly different. You can tell its the same guy which is pretty impressive based on how simple the Minimate design is. I'm really loving the continuity here.

The only thing I would change is giving Anne Weying a new hair piece instead of the re-used Goliath hair. I really like the worried look on her face, unfortunately the hair covers up the eyebrows.

I've been away from comics for a few years so I'm not familiar with Flash as Venom, but it's a great looking mate. Going to need to find a body with a varsity jacket I can QC for a classic civilian Flash.

  2. I can't wait to see Onslaught in all his 90s goofiness. Nova was my last choice for an army builder next to HAMMER, but I'm digging them now. I see there's two human hair pieces, is one for Richard and one Robbie? Is the blue guy supposed to be anyone in particular? I thought it might be Morrow but the hair doesn't match.

  3. Thanks guys!

Ms. Marvel is using the AVX Emma Frost hair piece.

Silver Sable is a Vindicator head, TRU Storm hairpiece, Shatterstar gloves, curse of the mutants Blade belt, X-Force box set guns, ans used a FA Deadpool leg belt thingy for the.... leg belt thingy. Everything else is Silver Sable.

  4. Speaking as strictly a marvel guy it's character selection. And DST doesn't screw the fans over like other toy companies. We get completed teams, multiple looks for characters, and tons of accessories. I love that we get civilian-type characters that would never be made elsewhere. I love the bang you get for your buck. There's rare stuff out there, but if you're on the ball, stuff isn't TOO hard to find. They're small and easy to store.

Speaking as an artist, I like how each minimate is a design problem. What I mean by that is "how can we make this character work in this form."

  5. I think this may be the first time Puppet Master has received a toy of any form. He's one of those characters who has been around forever, but ultimately he's just a guy. Not very toy friendly. These civilian-type minimates have actually been some of my favorites these past couple years. I always feel that DST "tries harder" to make them stand out more. The Thing sculpture, the mini puppets, the newspapers that came with JJ, the badge hand we got with Jean DeWolff, just great work all around. Part of the appeal of the line is the little oddities like this that we get. I could never in a million years see Hasbro making a Puppet Master Marvel Legend.

  6. Oooh... also just noticed - slipper feet on Moloids! Bases bases and more bases! Sue does have the white stripe on her waste! Any minor issues I had with the proto pics have been taken care of and then some!

  7. Ok so from what I can see, those mini puppets are free standing, ie not connected to any kind of alternate hand like the badge that came with Jean DeWolff. I'm going to need lots of those now. The possibilities.....

  8. I'd love to see the 2nd Beetle costume as well, and I'm betting that's the one we'll end up getting. But oh man, gimme that wonky 1st appearance as the variant.

I LOVE the '60s Mandarin that we got. Easily one of my favorite Minimate villains made.

He has a mustache and an "M" for Mandarin on his chest. What's not to love?!?!

  9. I love how we occasionally get thrown a bone with crazy sixties designs. Remember that ridiculous Mandarin we got? Completely ludicrous costume and I love it. I could totally see a First Appearance Beetle variant with the goofy suction cup hands.

  10. I generally think movie characters when I define a-list. I'm very surprised we only got one 616 Black Widow, which is extremely hard to find now. I think she would be perfect for this line. I also think of ccharacters who have held their own titles for long periods of time. Guys like Ghost Rider, Dr Strange and Silver Surfer come to mind. A non-metallic Surfer is something I can see DST doing. Juggernaut is someone I really wanna see in this line, with a cartoony bright color scheme and a skull cap underneath, no hair piece. I would say package him with a classic wheelchair Xavier, but the wheelchair would probably need to be a new piece and generally these waves reuse parts. It would also probably be too much for one pack since Jugs is so big, maybe you could package him with another XMan? PERFECT chance to get an updated classic John Byrne Cyclops!

Just throwing suggestions out there ;)
