  1. I'd only want them if they were 2" scale, no interest whatsoever in larger stuff.

I made a Fin Fang Foom out of existing parts with some minimal sculpting, he's not that hard.

I have a Hulk Annual 5 print re-created by Art Adams that he signed for me. It's one of my favorite pieces as I have a soft spot for all the Marvel Monsters.

  2. It's cool that we're getting so much stuff and so many characters but I'm wondering if it's coming at the expense of quality. Some of these figures feel like they're molded out of bubble gum, the plastic is that weak. I don't really mind softer plastic on arms and legs but they should never use soft plastic for joints and pins. That's inexcusable. Iceman can't even stand without the pressure of his upper body weight (a very slim mold mind you) buckling his knees into a "V." The female figures with smaller feet are impossible.

  3. Heads up, TRU has 20% off all Marvel and DC figures right now. Unfortunately it looks like I grabbed the Juggernaut wave a week too early but they did stock another case and this time I didn't miss out on Deadpool. They just got the Space Venom wave and I grabbed that too. There's some excellent custom fodder in there.

They look great.  I dig the slightly larger than usual masked Wolvie eyes, that seem to have more of a Cockrum vibe to them.

So do the stripes on his side. Cockrum drew them a little less even than later artists. I think that's an awesome touch.

  5. My main gripe about these blind bags is that most of us won't even have a CHANCE to fail at finding what we want. I'm sorry but the brick and mortar comic store is an antiquated business model. Most people these days rely on online retailers for "specific" collectibles like this. No comic book stores within at least a 100 mile radius of me carry Minimates. There needs to be pre-order interest before they stock anything like action figures, busts, vinyl banks, Batman toilet seat covers, etc.

So throwing rarity of the case packing on top of just rarity, PERIOD, creates a no-win situation for collectors.

I have a few K-Marts in my area. I have a couple TRU's, and a million Walgreens. Pretty sure there's at least two Hot Topics within 100 miles. I think that covers all of the exclusive brick and mortar retailers. If my TRU gets exclusives and I miss out, then that's on me. Same with the other retailers. Which goes back to what I said, I don't mind if I fail but I need to at least be given that option. I appreciate what MisterMiracle is doing with the Silk waiting list but I see how many people want the exclusives and I don't know, demand looks like it's far going to exceed supply because I don't see where all these extras are going to come from. As bad as the KMart/Hot Topic blind bag situations were, I guarantee the vast majority of us have several more of those retailers than we do comic stores.

I can try to convince my comic store to carry them, but they won't risk it unless I pre-order the case. Understandable, but if I'm doing that then why not just buy a case directly from Luke? It's just....bad. I don't think it's out of line to wish failure on this experiment. It's not like we're asking for Minimates to go out of business.

  6. Doctor Strange wave is quite the let-down. I grab all the exclusives and I think movie figures are dull so the only "essential" figure here is Nico Minoru. This wave is a huge missed opportunity, we could have easily gotten a classic comic Strange. Mindless Ones or Rintrah would have been welcome additions. Hopefully if the movie takes off we'll get additional Doctor Strange waves to flesh out his character library.

Grabbed all the Juggernaut wave, no Deadpool of course. Best Legends wave in recent memory. No movie stuff, re-dos that were actually needed and a focus on iconic. No wonder this wave is flying off the shelves.

  7. Finding these things has been far too much of a headache. I give up.

I need one Man-Thing set and one Nighthawk set.

I have access to all the TRU exclusives so we can do an even trade or PayPal. Pricks on eBay are already listing these for $40.00 and I'm not stooping to that. I have FOUR Walgreens in my area that never received Wave 1.5 or Wave 2. Lingering stock is not an issue as there are only 2 sets left from Wave 1 COMBINED at all four stores. I have zero faith in their competence to order more since the SKU's are identical, they could order more Wave 1 for all I know. That also needs to be fixed. These should be available online. I've helped a lot of people here in the past so I'm hoping someone can hook me up. Thanks!

  8. This is a real bummer and from what I hear it was not expected. 40 is far too young. It's hard to find a reviewer who has similar tastes as yourself but I found myself agreeing with pretty much everything Glenn said. I found him to be a very funny guy and his humor never felt forced and it never came off like he was trying to put himself over at the expense of his reviews. He seemed like a guy who if I ever met in person I would probably be friends with. I will miss his review style. Nothing beat Glenn ripping apart a bad figure! One of my favorite Glenn-isms from the All-New X-Men Marvel legends box set:

"I don't want to keep pointing out the paint mistakes, but they Keep! Shoving! Them! In! My! Face!" as he zooms in on a cross-eyed Angel :)

And then there's this gem from an Action Figure Evolution video:

"Abomination also appeared in the Super Hero Squad line aimed towards the younger collector, and also in Marvel Universe for the even younger collector...."

Tragic loss to the community. Glenn will be missed. :(

  9. Marrina uses the same hair as Mystique and Vampire Jubilee. Marrina is probably the cheapest bet. Good choice!

I believe Ivan once considered inventorying non-extra parts for the database but it's not as easy as you would think. An example pointed out would be something like translucent green arms. Radioactive Man and one of the promos have translucent green, but they're not the same shade. And that's not even taking into consideration the various shades of brown hair, blonde hair, etc.

One of my favorite issues from one of my favorite comic runs of all-time. Unfortunately I don't have a computer or a tablet right now so I had to "phone" this one in. I'm probably going to attempt more of these as this was a lot of fun.
