  1. Wow.....I like these a lot, and I think having the cartoon 'mates in TRU is a great marketing plan to get more mass market appeal. Face it, if a kid walks in and sees Ultimate Spider-man from a cartoon he watches, or Moon Knight, it's no question which gets the sale. And any new converts to minimates is a good thing!

My only issue so far is that Nova's helmet is black, when it's yellow in the cartoon, I'm sure that will be fixed by the time the figure comes out. The 2099 and Agent Venom look great! And I love the "Wtf?" face on the ultimate spidey - really captures the spirit of the cartoon.

  2. I'd be interested in a Deathlok spinoff, after this week's episode. Reminded me that he could be interesting in a wandering helper kind of way, like the old 70s Incredible Hulk show.

This is, of course, assuming the show could get some decent writing. It actually got some momentum going early in season 2 and up to the Winter Finale, but man has it dropped back down sharply since then.

  3. Ok, I know I'm way behind on getting it, but I never saw these at my local TRU, so I finally ordered off TRU.com. The Hulk and Thane are whatever, I dig that bulked up Thanos, even though I'm more an old school guy and would love a classic Thanos in that size too. But seriously - I LOVE that space Cap.

For some reason, I am always amused by the ridiculousness of comic book logic of "cover up the arms, strap on a helmet, and that'll protect you in space". Now I just need more pieces to space out some of my other figures! I'm thinking of Original Sin when they were on the moon, with Cap, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, maybe a Nick Fury.....so many possibilities!

  4. So Ivan..... how do you see yourself listing these over at MMDB?

Will Forge get his own listing? or will he appear as an alternate look for Wolverine?

Zach - will the alternate looks be shown on the packaging; perhaps a group shot of 11 on the reverse, with double bios for those with alternate characters options?

Will the wave get an X-Men branding similar to what wave 59 had? Maybe with a classic X-Men block text?

I would assume MMDB would just list what it has on the front of the package, like the wave 51 Nick Fury Jr. There wasn't a separate Steve Rogers listing, just an alt picture. Although it does bring up interesting questions, like if someone is looking to get all variations of Cap and that doesn't show up in the list......

  5. Ok, first off, i just want to say I LOVE this wave. Immonen's designs are definitely some of the best I've seen in recent memory. I like them much better than the crazy Uncanny costumes right now.

But is it just mine, or are all the Iceman/Bobby Ice accessories a litte......dingy? I could see if it was yellowed with age, but right out of the package, it looks like some dirty ice. Had to pull out my TTA Cap to compare.....I think the blue tint worked so much better.

  6. I feel like that wave MIGHT be one of the strongest I listed, up there with the Team X wave. I feel like both have strong mixes of anchor characters and newbies. But Fenris would be useless without their Upstart teammates, Graydon Creed and Fitzroy. Gamesmaster and Sienna Blaze would just have to join up later somehow. Or not. Lol

Maybe the Bishop Fitzroy two-pack could come with Malcolm and Randall heads and arms

I'm buying 3 sets of any Bishop set that comes with Malcom and Randall accessories. So many mullets!

  7. I know we can't please everybody, but I also know people here are quick to judge, and can be highly vocal about their displeasure. I try not to resent it, and give them a chance to admit they might, someday, see an assortment's value.

Hank's glasses will obviously be translucent, with a no-visor hairpiece and a glasses face. Levitating base and possible powered-up hair and face for Jean. Not sure of the final Iceman rendering, but the new ice part could be a must-have for many.

I'm very excited by this set - any new X-Men set is great to me. I've been reading All-New X-Men since it started, and the Immoment costumes are awesome - gives them that team look while having their own individual colors.

As someone who has the first appearance set, the X-Factor set, and got all the 90s looks together, I'm always up for another iteration of the original five. :)

  8. I just got one of these auctions - they seem fine to me. Yes, there's no accessories, but it was a cheap way for me to complete the Astonishing set, and get the Ben Reilly Spidey. Other than some sticky joints, I don't notice any problems. It's the same thing.

Also, this means I have an extra Riot Spidey, Astonishing Kitty, Wolverine, and Beast if anyone's interested.....

  9. Ok so apparently AoA happened on an alternate earth and not in the prime earth. I wiki'ed it since I was not familiar. And the exiles all feature popping around from 1 alternate earth to another like the show Sliders.

So from that I would say that the alternate timeline present in AoU ceased to exist when the crossover ended since it was an alternate timeline of the prime earth and not an alternate dimension such as the world of the squadron supreme.

Maybe at some point they'll say that alternate timelines become their own dimensions, but presently I don't think that's the case.

I kinda want to read AoA now.

Alternate timelines are their own dimensions, X-Force recently went back to the Age of Apocalypse to get a celestial seed that was destroyed on the 616 Earth.

And you should read AoA - it was a really good, coherent alternate universe story. Just don't bother with anything that comes after X-Men: Omega.

  10. Just got my TRU sets this weekend, and I love them! I've been primarily a Marvel MM collector, but these are just too great to pass up. There was a ton of all the male captains, only one Janeway left. Only thing I wish is that Hugh had more generic Borg parts, so I could have different Borg if I bought multiples of Picard to display him in all his looks.

And since no LCS in my area carries these, I've already gone on eBay and gotten the specialty sets too!

    Can't wait for a Tribbleprise!

  11. Man, I used to have my SHS X-Men with ML Mojo too! Apparently the only pics I have of my display from back then was after I moved them around though. I'm glad someone else thought to make them X-Babies.

And SHS flocked 90s Beast might be the best figure ever. That is all.

  12. The nice thing about a Daredevil wave is that is an easy way to work in new versions of Power Man & Iron Fist, or Shang Chi, Paladin, Darkhawk....basically any of the lesser known street level characters.

I was with you until you said Darkhawk - street level? Don't get me wrong, I would love a Darkhawk mate, but I don't think he'd ever really be street level, considering he's got an alien suit of armor that he turns into using a magic amulet.

Let's have a best of the 90s wave!

    Darkhawk

    Sleepwalker

    Deathlok

    Superpro

    Slapstick

  13. Ok, I might have just totally missed this, but is TRU going to carry the exact same minimates as the LCS? Will there be some shared, but some exclusive? If so, what is going where? Can't wait to get these....just saw IM3 last weekend, really got me excited for the minimates!

  14. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by cowboy Tony. This is the 3rd movie, so it's obvious he has to go back in time to save Doc (where he'll debut his 'Steam Engine Train' armor).

Very cool looking mates. Can't wait to see what else comes out for the movie.

    The doc's alive! He's in 1885, but he's alive!

    THIS.
