Saw these at my TRU and passed. Not b/c they're not awesome, but b/c I picked up the exclusive MvC mates & a set of Halo marines. Hopefully I can score them on clearance like I score Drac and the others!
I'd imagine scoring them on clearance is less of a chance we'll see any other monster mates the next year.
I need to pick up the Mummy and sarcophagus next time I'm in TRU, that set looks awesome! I'd love to see an Invisible man set, also like to see any minimate head with a full face mummy wrap so I can make a Darkman custom

Updated first post with newest customs

That's a good idea, we need either scared heads or maybe just a scared face on the other side of the head? (at least for those with a head that's fully covered in the back)
Looking through the database seems the only scared faces are:
They're kinda cartoony but there's also Louis Tully from RGB

Here's some pics of Takara's new Beast Saga stuff. Honestly? I prefer Minimates if only for the articulation. But then, I'm biased.
I'm with you, Minimate versions look way better to me. The dice in the chest thing kinda ruins it for me.
As for this wave 1, still not crazy about the humans (but I haven't read the comic yet so that may change) but I'm loving every beast I see! I definitely want both specialty and TRU wave much to my wallet's objections

The more creatures I see, the more I want in the toy line

So we had a thread for these when they first came out, couldn’t find it...
There’s a second wave of Mario Kart Block Figures out, it includes the four from series 1 (Mario, Bowser, Yoshi, and Luigi) as well as Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, and Toad (TRU’s ad blurb mentions Wario and Baby Mario too but I’ve not seen any evidence of them... maybe wave 3 or a BS ultra rare variant?)
The case ratio is less insane then wave 1 BUT it is Blind Bagged this time around.... BUT there’s a code. On the back of the bag is a 7 digit number, one number will underlined the order of the number will be the figure. the order goes:
1-Mario
2-Bowser
3-Luigi
4-Yoshi
5-Donkey Kong
6-Toad
7-Diddy Kong
So if your bag number is 9567890 it’s got Luigi in it.
In closing here’s a group shot with Four Swords Link (because I think he matches stylistically) and TV’s Mitch Buchannon for scale (he was the closest minimate when I took the picture):
So how do we read the numbers? I figured you were saying the underlined number would correspond to the figure in your list but you say 9567890 is for Luigi, but he's #3 in your list and Toad is #6
or are you saying ignore the actual numbers, just look to see which number is underlined (IE: the third number is underlined, therefore, it's Luigi who is the third figure on the list)

Thanks Shogi, I had been wondering on that for a while, I could never find any good photos of the original Kitt.
Here's a review I did with a lot of pics of KITT (if you're still looking for pictures)
-
I only had one wing that fell off, but I just put a small bit of scotch tape around the peg then put the wing back on. Works fine now.
-
If it wasn't for Nervous' post, I wouldn't have thought to put clear coat on them in the first place
-
Yeah, the KITT with Michael in the red shirt is normal looking KITT (I believe the same mold as KARR? I don't have KARR so I don't know for sure) while the KITT with Michael in the blue shirt is Super Pursuit Mode KITT (Different Mold than normal KITT)

Is that paint stuff pretty common to find and not too spendy?
Most hobby stores should have it. Hobbytown USA, Hobby Lobby, etc... I think I paid $2-$3 for the bottle I have. I only used a fraction of the clear coat for the T-Cats.
-
yeah, I touched up all three with a sharpie then covered them in clear coat. It only takes a few seconds to brush some clear coat on each symbol and then let them sit for a while (at least 30 minutes, I let mine sit for the rest of the day though)
-
Picked up a sharpie and went to fix the Sword of Omens today....that's when I noticed Lion O's symbol was fading out too (all of the figures have been in a ziplock bag and probably rubbing against each other) Here's some before and after pics using Testors Model Masters Semi-Gloss Clear paint
-
I need Wave 1 to come out, these three aren't yet enough to make a large battle scene
-
Here's a better pic of the Sword's logo
and some pics of Mumm-Ra
-
Well looks like I did suffer from some symbol rubbing. While rubbing off the tape residue from my Sword of Omens, the Thundercats symbol faded out. The other side (which was printed a little high already) is also smearing a little.
Sorry for the bad cell phone pics, I'll take better pics once I get home tonight
-
Got my set from Luke's in today! I got bold and instead of just putting clear coat on Lion-O's symbol I checked to see if it would rub away.......I've lightly run my thumb over it a few times and have not noticed anything smearing or coming off, Huray!
I did notice that Snarf's right foot seems slightly skewed as ufemizm posted about previously. Snarf can stand, but he'll fall over with a slight breeze
I heated up the leg with a hair dryer and then tried to reposition it and let it cool down, it kinda worked, the foot is more on the ground but I think the foot was made to be slighty lifted up

I'll add in that I'd also like to see TNG mates. As far as any variant set goes, I'd like it to be similar to the Admiral Kirk/Scotty variant set. Give us two characters in typical uniforms (Say a Data and a beardless Riker) then you can make the variant a bearded Riker. Now we'll also have a spare Data who can be any other engineer with a simple head swap. As long as both bodies in the regular and variant set are typical Star Fleet uniforms, you can make most any character that may not sell at retail.

I appreciate that many might not be taking me seriously....I stress that I am . Leaving a pack in direct sunlight in a safe place can't hurt anything can it ? I am not suggesting that people sit in a suntan parlour with their Minimates.
I'll take it on the chin if someone says I'm talking bollocks about UV curing but I'm sincere on this one.
Mine will arrive early next week & I'll keep you posted.
Yeah I know UV rays can have affects on plastics (and probably paints) I've seen enough people whiten yellowed plastic with sun rays and peroxide to accept that it's possible. My issue is how does one test if it worked or not? That's really my only hesitation, I know the clear paint will seal in the factory paint, but I won't know if I've left the item in the sun long enough to keep the logo from rubbing off without running my finger over it, possibly ruining it.
I'll definitely be interested in seeing your results
-
Thanks Pete! I had completely missed that during news of the con
-
Just a stab in the dark (no pun intended) but worth a try..... give the affected areas a dose of ultra violet light .
Some inks(paints) are UV curable, they set when exposed to UV ....just try it you've nothing to lose & even leaving the sealed packs in direct sunlight could help but of course only the side being exposed will be affected.
No joke.
I could of course be way off with my suggestion & the ink/paint may be of a completely different nature .
You first
Seriously, I'd like to try ideas like this, but I'm nervous enough about screwing the logo up that first thing out of the package, I'm slapping clear paint on it

I feel ya on the spoilers front, When Walking Dead was airing this last season, I had to catch the reair later in the night due to my work schedule. well, they would play exclusive clips of the next week's episode after the first airing so of course before I see the episode that just aired, I see a clip with Carl asking his dad how so&so died....as far as I knew, so&so was still alive
Back to the minimates, are there any pictures yet showing what Dale in winter coat looks like? I'm assuming that the Roamer Zombie packaged with him will be the exact same zombie packaged with normal Dale?
-
Hate to break it to your designers, Zach, but Horus' Ra's Merk's legs bend the wrong direction.
I think it's more a case of the minimate legs missing a third segment before the feet. from the knee down to the 3rd segment looks the minimate, there's just that last part of the leg that goes forward that's missing

I think it's different for every region, the TRU's near me still had Uncharted sets as of a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't seen Ratchet sets in a few months now
