1. Thanks, TENIME. Though I reeally should have looked closer before I started cutting. Senator Kelly was supposed to get the jacket with the black tie and Mystique should have had the blue tie.

I also agree that of the three songs, Cosmic Castaway probably works best with the character. At some point I need to remember to take a picture of her in her transformed state with Sauron/Reaper's wing hands.

  2. the elf girl in the far left doesn't seem to have a torso cover while at the same time seeming to have a scabbard behind her sword hand. Really looking forward to seeing more detail (hint hint).

Belts and torso covers, then. None are pegged in. I don't know if we've ever made a scabbard or sheath that was removable from a belt or torso cover.

    Marvel

    Series 9 Blade

    Series 25 Ska'ar

    Exclusive Taskmaster

    Curse of Mutants Blade

    Deadpool Corps Deadpool

    Battle Beasts

    Vorin

    Antalor's knife

Also the case could be made for Thundercats Lion-O's Sword of Omens dagger form fitting into the claw shield and then onto the belt peg.

There are likely more but those are the ones in my collection, but as the saying goes "the more you know".

  3. So I'm getting closer to finalizing the names for the crew of the Vapor Trails. However, I want to post a couple of customs that that have been waiting for the parts needed for completion. First up Nightcrawler in the fur for the swimsuit line and the other is my Prototype Captain Falcon. Falcap has been finished since about an hour after the news that he would be the next Captain America but I was waiting to get a movie Falcon to give him those wings. That was a mistake because he was an overloaded mess so I've settled on keeping this version as his prototype suit until the new version was ready for him.

Now on to the mercenary crew of the Vapor Trails: Cherry Bomb, Just'N Imm-Age, Wild One, Downtime, and Johnny B. Goode. I'm still working on the name for the Skrull member of the team but I've narrowed the field down to Cinnamon Girl by Type O Negative, Cosmic Castaway by Electrasy, or Renegade Survivor by The Wailing Souls.

  4. If we did get maxi-mates, yes I would like characters like Galactus and Giant-man and the Sentinels, but also I would appreciate characters such as the Living Tribunal or maybe even Eternity.

Also I think it would be beneficial for them to put a standard sized 'mate in with them.

    Galactus: Silver Surfer

    Sentinel: *sigh* Wolverine

Giant-Man: Regular sized Hank Pym? or Wasp?

What if the Wolverine was transparent with an adamantium skeleton printed on it? That would be a combo pack worth picking up multiples of.

  5. My nephew's favorite is Rocket with Drax and Groot tied for second.

As to language and themes his only problem was trying to understand how Rocket was the only one that seemed to understand Groot. After a long discussion about body language, tone, inflection, and how after being around someone for a long time you can just understand what they mean he hits me with "Oh you mean like R2-D2 in Star Wars?".

Needless to say I felt stupid for not making a such a simple connection as an example.

  6. First thing that came to mind: Lynyrd Skynyrd – Free Bird

    some others:

George Baker Selection - Paloma Blanca

Mark Lindsay - Silver Bird (even though she's wearing gold)

    Michael Jackson - Rockin' Robin

Rick Dees & His Cast Of Idiots - Disco Duck

Ram Jam- Black Betty (just a throwing it out there cause I love the song)

The Rolling Stones - Lady Jane

    Ben Kweller - Ann Disaster

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Lodi (its pronounced low-die)

Free Bird does tend to jump to the top of the list but the problem is that the song doesn't really fit the character. The same with Rockin' Robin and Lodi. So far those are the only songs that are in my collection so I'll have to listen to the others to see if they fit. So far the closest I've gotten to a place holder for her is Steppenwolf's Jupiter's Child.

As frustrating as it has been trying to get names and songs that fit it has also been fun at the same time.

  7. After watching Guardians of the Galaxy I decided to put together another little group of space misfits. However, this time I've made things a bit more challenging by trying to give each character a name that is also a song title. As you can see one custom has so far eluded finding a name and the others, aside from Cherry Bomb, are just place holders until something better comes along. Though I should point out that Imm-Age has to keep that particular part of his name to fit into already established continuity.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

  8. So, the villains have been guessed, and yet the heroes they're paired with are nearly unguessable?

The new thing, I believe, is multiple figures per body. We were talking about doing it with the Jim Lee X-Men. I think it's going to be 90s X-Factor, though. It's how you get a complete team with only 4 figures:

Havok (with parts for Multiple Man)/Toad

    Polaris (with parts for Wolfsbane)/Pyro

Strong Guy (with parts for Multiple Man)/Blob

    Random/Quicksilver (with parts for Avalanche)

Look at Multiple Man's costume. Add a bulked chest piece and arms and a new head, voila! Strong Guy! Same if you swap Havok's head and leather jacket for Jamie's brown duster. Change out Polaris's head, arms, and legs and clip on a tail... Ta-DA! Wolfsbane! And then all you need to do to Quicksilver is add chest armor, a new head, and new gloves and boots to make to make Avalanche!

It may be a pipe dream, but it's really no more parts than DST packs in for certain alternate looks. This would be a really clever way to get a whole team knocked out in one fell swoop, and it would certainly make things seem "unguessable" at face value

If I'm right, it's not something DST could pull off with every wave, but we could see it used in the future for other uniformed teams:

    Jim Lee X-Men

    Guardians of the Galaxy

Fantastic Four (getting us Bagman/She Hulk/etc)

    Pollina X-Force

    Acolytes

I like the idea but is that a new thing? Didnt we get something similar with Nick Fury Jr. and transforming Thing/transforming Hulk?

What about the concept of having every character in the wave with parts for an alternate look? So instead of eight characters with the Mix & Match pattern there are actually sixteen?

  9. Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, Spider-Man, and Avengers.

    1. Iron Man & Ronan (Guardians of the Galaxy)

    3. X-23 & Sentinel (X-Men, new costume and army builder, wave 59 overlap)

    2. New costume/re-do. Ties in to another box set.

    4. Re-do/Re-do.

I'm guessing that the Spider-Man set is the other box set tie in and I'm going to say that the New Costume will be Vulture and the re-do will be Kraven the Hunter.

That leaves just an Avengers set and taking a stab in the dark I'm guessing Vision (Non Phasing) & Abomination (Bulked up).

While not completely wish listing, sure I'd like that line up, the only one I must have is X-23 so for once I can complete a team in a timely manner. Though no matter what the final line up is I'm happy with just GK Iron Man and Ronan.

  10. If you make a calendar you should have Iron Man lying on his side with his helmet strategically placed in front of his crotch to make it look like he is naked lol.

I still need a few more customs before a calender became an option but even then I probably wouldn't go to the trouble of making one. While I have another couple of chest blocks on order the only additional character I have planned is Iron Fist and I have to wait until Best of wave 3 is released for the correct chest.

  11. Well, as you can all guess, I'm pretty darn excited by this news. I remember talking with Chuck in New York a few years ago, and he casually dropped that they had designed these once upon a time for Disney, but then Disney decided that they didn't want to do NBC merch anymore, and my knees buckled. It's one of my favorite movies and a Top 5 most wanted dream properties. So, for those of you that aren't all that excited, just be happy for ol' Hellpop. This... THIS makes up for View Askew.

Anyway, assuming we are getting one box set, I'd think it will be:

    Jack

    Sally

    Oggie Boogie

    Santa

With a little Zero pack-in. If we are lucky enough to get a second set, I'd hope for:

    Jack as Santa

    The Mayor

    Dr. Finkelstein

The last spot is a tossup. Obviously, you'd most like Lock, Shock and Barrel, but I wouldn't want one and not the others. And I don't know if I'd want them as little unarticulated Minis (please refer to the Guardians of the Galaxy thread). But I could live with them, I guess. I don't know who else would make sense in the set, though. The werewolf guy? The one with the hatchet in his head? The witch? Look, there's another box set right there?

Aw yeah Nightmare Before Christmas! :buttrock:

Put the werewolf with set two and make set three Lock, Shock and Barrel with the fourth slot filled by their walking bathtub using minimate arms for its legs.

  12. I could go for 19 being a hodge podge wave

    Iron Man & Ronin

    Thor with Axe & Loki

Captain Marvel with Chewie & Kid sized Rocket with extra Ferkins

X-23 (ANX Uniform) & Professor Pryde (With jacket and guns to hang out with Star Lord)

  13. The last, for now, Marvel Swimsuit characters: Phoenix boy toys Wolverine and Cyclops, the Too Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Daredevil: Man without pants.

Then moving on to a group of random customs: AXIS Red Onslaught, Agent Barnes, Nova Zik, Gatherers Universe Gerret Lancaster the Golden Knight, and Z-Day survivor Videographer Carol White.

  14. What about Speedo and Sunglasses Punisher?

Unfortunately I don't have any heads with sunglasses however after reading your request I did assemble a Locker Room Punisher. However, I will admit that I'm feeling a bit disturbed at what I came up with. (No pun intended!)

I think i have a few extra parts to send your way if you'd like.

Thanks for the offer ElGallo21, but it isn't so much a matter of finding the parts, but being able to afford to pick them up. My local Hastings still has three packs of Shanna and Reaper for plenty of arms and legs and a few Street Fighter X Tekken for a couple of chests.

I think Cap would look better with a utility belt of some sort to help make him look battle ready

Other than that, these fan-f**king-tastic, Im honestly wondering if I have enough flesh colored pieces to copy this idea for my own collection.

Yeah, I'm thinking of using the Fighting Chance Cap Belt withe the over sized pouches and giant "A" on the buckle as soon as I can afford it.

I can't wait to see what you come up with.

  15. Re: Cap, just be glad I went with blue instead of the white. The white version was really disturbing.

I've considered a Wolverine custom since there are a number of shirtless variations and I hadn't considered Cyclops since he isn't an Avenger however I do have an extra Cyclops head so now the only problem is getting more naked chests and legs as I'm currently out of those parts.
