  1. Zombie Shakespear

I thought they were going to do this (kill off Deathlok's kid) but I could see how killing kids probably isn't a prime time show event material. Given how desperate and crazy they made Deathlok's character, his son's death would only provoke his suicide. I hope we are done with Deathlok.

    MisterPL

I thought Triplett was supposed to be more of a Specialist like Ward. His gadget ability seems limited to the stuff he swiped from grandma.

I hope Hill doesn't replace Coulson as lead agent at this point. I think Coulson should remain hands on while he rebuilds Shield. Plus I thought Hill was going to work for Stark?

I have no idea about Koenig. The brother thing seems too cheesy, it would be a lot cooler if Fury had every secret base stocked with a Koenig clone.

    DarkRedShadow

Ward as Taskmaster seems like a fit on the surface because Taskmaster is a well known villain with hand-to-hand combat skills. But beyond that it all falls apart. Taskmaster has a super power - the ability to mimic the fighting style of anyone he encounters. Ward clearly doesn't have this power now, and his getting his ass kicked by Agent May dents his hand-to-hand combat supremacy. Taskmaster would not lose a hand-to-hand fight with a lone Shield agent. True, they could find a way for Ward to develop this super power. But there is a second aspect of Taskmaster that Ward clearly doesn't have. Taskmaster is a tactical combat genius, very intelligent, and a natural leader. He often stays out of direct conflict with heroes, preferring instead to train other villains. When he does go toe to toe with heroes like Captain America - he brings an army. Ward has none of these attributes. Ward is a skilled fighter and top notch sharpshooter. But I don't see Ward building a mercenary empire with his natural leadership abilities. Like Skye said - he's weak.

On the other hand, Crossfire fits the bill perfectly. Former spy and an expert marksman who has gone toe to toe with Hawkeye. The whole mind control aspect of Crossfire fits nicely with Ward as well. Ward couldn't garner his own henchmen with his personality, but he could build a fearsome army with a mind control device. Given his Stockholm Syndrome like obsession with being Garrett's personal slave, and his own mind control experience with Lorilei, Ward would have a deep personal interest in getting his hands on mind control technology. There are two obvious targets - Skye and Coulson. Neither would forgive him without some sort of mind control device, and I think Ward craves acceptance or something from both now that Garrett is dead.

  2. I'm going to guess a set that has:

    Michonne

    Rick

    Glenn

    and The Governor.

With WD several waves deep, DST wants to get the core characters into the hands of potentially new collectors who could no longer find the original stuff. A lot of potential new collectors see stuff at SDCC. They will be nearly straight re-releases, maybe new face tampos.

The debate about the merit here will be the age old debate between "more Wolverine and Spider-Man" vs. "new and unmade characters".

  3. (Are spoiler tags still necessary?)

Probably not but, what the heck, they make my posts smaller. It would be cool to see The Leader show up in MAOS but I think you are right that he would be held in reserve for a Hulk movie.

I'd like to see Fitz have a long, drawn out recovery. The more he suffers, the more despicable Ward ultimately seems for what he did. Plus it puts an exclamation point on Fitz's expression of love for Simmons. I agree that Fitz and Simmons are a bit redundant although there was an entertaining chemistry between them. Drawing out Fitz's recovery also pushes out the need to confront the Triplett/Simmons/Fitz love triangle.

With "How I Met Your Mother" concluded, it would be nice to see Maria Hill get added to the roster. However, I don't think the team needs another leader character at the moment. Plus, they would need to explain why Fury chose Coulson and not Hill to be the new Director.

Instead, I think it would be cool to introduce an anti-Fitz to the team. A character with Fitz's skill sets who butts heads with Simmons and generally causes problems for the rest of the team. It sets the stage for a potential new villain (Fixer?) and ultimately a nemesis for Fitz and Simmons.

The only character I don't want to see return is Deathlok. There were some cool moments with the character but he doesn't add much to the overall dynamic or story. We get it, you love your kid. In fact, you love your kid so much you are willing to murder untold numbers of innocent people to keep him safe. Got it. Deathlok is a weak character overall. He might be super powered, but he has a massive, glaring weakness that any minor criminal could exploit. Kidnap his son, and he turns into your personal hit man. Add to that his primary systems can be hacked by someone like Skye and it's best just to have Deathlok fade away into obscurity.

  4. I found the last half of the first Agents of Shield season to be must watch TV. My wife really enjoys it too. Anyone interested in discussing the season finale? I just watched it last night. Wow!

    Grant Ward

My biggest fear was that the show was going to rehabilitate Ward back into being a good guy. This still could happen in Season 2, but it seems less likely after the season finale. I just don't think it would be even remotely plausible, after what he has done, to spin the character into someone who suddenly found his moral compass. He's too far gone. The show is building an "out" for him to "turn good" by excusing him as directionless and weak willed, but I really hope the show doesn't go down that path. Deathlok murdered because he had to save his son's life. There was an end that justified his immoral means. Ward murdered because Garrett told him to murder. He had no end. He just followed orders and acted like a textbook sociopath.

I do think Ward has a lot of potential to become even more evil, and I hope the show takes that route in the near term. He is definitely a sympathetic character to some degree, but he's the perfect candidate to be turned into a vengeful Super Villain. Perhaps Ward will attempt to reform and atone for his past evil ways while in prison, only to receive some sort of emotionally devastating rejection of forgiveness from Coulson. That could send Ward spiraling into the type of vengeful super villain we all love to hate.

    Super Villains

So which Marvel super villain could Ward become? Which villains do you think we will see in Season 2?

Black Out - Seems like a no-brainer for a Season 2 villain. Already hinted at in media.

High Evolutionary - There has been a lot of "evolution" talk in the last few episodes. I could see him emerging as the big bad guy for the second season. It would fit nicely with Skye's parents being "monsters". I also think the weird code Coulson and Garrett were writing on the walls seemed vaguely "High Evolutionary"-ish. I think they could also tie the High Evolutionary with genetics research conducted on Asgardians.

Crossfire - Created by writer Steven Grant, I could see Ward developing into this villain. Crossfire and Ward share a spy background and sharpshooter skills. Ward has experienced first hand the power of mind control with the Asgardian Lorelei, so it wouldn't be a stretch for him to desire some mind control tech of his own. In fact, given his own irrational slavish obedience to Garrett, mind control technology might be the one thing Ward can use to level the moral playing field, so to speak, between himself and his former team-mates. I mean, if Ward can make Coulson murder someone by making him simply follow an order, what moral distinction remains between Ward and Coulson?

  5. Last year we got the "Wolverine Saga" set as a kind of unofficial SDCC tie-in to the "The Wolverine" movie, maybe we're getting a new X-Men themed set to do the same with DoFP using 616 versions of characters from the movie?

    - classic Mystique (needed villain redo)

    - classic Toad (Zach hinted at getting a new Brotherhood member a while back)

    - Big name hero (Wolverine, Professor X, Storm, etc)

    - Supporting hero (Rogue, Iceman, Bishop, etc)

    Please, please, please, please, please...

  6. I need the following:

Bart, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Itchy & Scratchy.

I have the extras pictured below. I'll trade 2 to 1 for the ones I still need. Since I have 11 of 16 and lack Mattallica's magic fingers, purchasing more blind packs is a losing proposition for me at this point..

Crappy picture but Maggie looks like she's thinking about shooting Mr. Burns again.

  7. A TRU miracle!! I'm in Atlanta for work this week and stopped by a TRU by my hotel last night to look for ASM2 mates and found a couple pegs of mates in the specialty toy aisle (nothing in the marvel aisle). They had 3 pegs of Street Fighter, 1 peg of tomb raider (full price), and a peg with one classic Khan pack on it. I noticed the green stickers with the $4 tag and walked away. While browsing in the Lego area it noticed the signs saying that green tags were an additional 60% off so I decided I'd grab some for extra parts. When I went back to the aisle out of nowhere there was a full peg of ASM2 mates. I had been gone for only a couple minutes and boom there they are!

So I grabbed some Street fighter packs on clearance and a couple ASM2 packs which were perfectly centered, some of the others were way off center.

I read your first sentence in a tiny little Oliver Twist voice.

Congrats. I've only had the reverse happen. I see new Minimates on the shelves from across the store but by the time I cross the store they are gone.

  8. While the first half of the season AoS felt a little cheesy, formulaic, and flat, the second half has been absolutely bonkers fun. It's one of the best shows on network TV right now.

I feels like the show figured out it wasn't a sci/fi mystery show and embraced it's comic book roots. Coulsen's experience in Tahiti and the Hydra reveal have electrified this show.

In some ways, I feel like AoS has a better villain right now than CA:Winter Soldier did. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the next Marvel movie.

  9. I'm sure more will come. This consumer protection lawsuit can serve as a model for suits in other states. Anyone who has been ripped off by a Kickstarter campaign should contact their State Attorney General's office.

In the near term, this will look bad for KickStarter as more fraudulent activity will be publicly exposed. But it may help KickStarter if more of these consumer protection lawsuits weed out frauds and motivate KickStarter campaigns to actually deliver on agreed upon terms. If KickStarter cannot get a handle on the frauds, I don't think it will survive very long.

I think you are doing KickStarter (and crowd source funding in general) a favor if you pursue follow up action against KickStarter campaigns that do not deliver upon on their agreed upon terms. It seems like any campaign that takes in over $25,000 in funding will be potential targets of investigation by the states. Sometimes a notice from an Attorney General's office of an investigation provides the necessary incentive and motivation for companies to resolve issues.

  10. Borrowing a concept from Hisstank.com, I was wondering if members would be interested in posting updates in regional Sightings threads? These are threads where folks give updates about where and what Minimates they find "in the wild" so other forum members can take advantage of retail prices. Kinda like the Marvel TRU Wave 18 North East thread.

Would this be ok to do in Flea Market? I can start with a "Southern California Sightings" thread. I know there are a few of us down here who contend with general scalpers who grab anything marked TRU Exclusive. Maybe this will give us MMMV members a fighting chance if we can notify each other before the vultures descended. Thoughts?

  11. I stumbled across Project Zomboid on accident last year, and I've been fully addicted ever since. I think it is an absolute blast. I wondered if anyone here plays. It's an early release game meaning it's not finished with more alpha features upcoming. But currently the game play is well worth the price imo and fully baked as far as I'm concerned. It's gotten some shout-outs from the makers of Minecraft and Day Z so it's generating some good interest in the Indie game world.

Check it out if it appeals to you (retro-style, isometric view, sandbox, building stuff and crafting, zombies) and if you have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse. The community is growing daily with ever more mods coming out. Multiplayer was recently added too. Link

If you get sucked into playing this game, just remember: This is how you died.

  12. Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to a few people:

    1. YB - Thanks for the pictures and Q&A summaries in this thread. I know I'm not alone in expressing my appreciation for thinking about the MMMV members who could not make it to C2E2. And I know it's no small task to round up all this info and post it up, especially during a convention. So thanks!

    2. Zach and DST - Thanks for making an official MMMV minimate happen. I know I'm also not alone in cheering the culmination of many members' dreams. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

    3. Shane and MMMV Staff - Thank you in advance for taking on the task of setting up future contests for these special Minimates. Without MMMV the MMMV mate wouldn't exist. I hope you guys cherish this mate.

    4. Luke - Just take my money! Have it all! (Congrats on a store exclusive. I imagine this baby will sell out quick!)

Last thought - I call dibs on calling MMMV Mate the "forever champion" of Translucent Tuesdays. Who could possibly beat him?
