  1. Can I get one of those fancy banners that just say's "I'm with DST, and will enjoy whatever they give me"? Super pumped to hear the poll announcement.

    Here ya go:

image selected is meant as a good natured jab at DST’s choices and I can change it if someone has a funnier/better idea (but serious, that set WOULD kinda kick ass)

    made another one! I’m boooooooored!

    You are a hero.

  2. A few things:

    - I didn't use the pinned Wish List thread, I used the "Most Wanted New Marvel Minimates" thread (http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=10434&st=0). That one had a poll element, and was created in December. So it's more recent AND quantifiable.

    - We will not have control art for all of them. We will have comic art. So you can cast a vote for a character, and a costume, but not for a cool new part or accessory. This poll is for collectors, not customizers. But hopefully recent releases have proven that we will execute high-quality Mates.

    - The story mentions, I believe, that there will be one or two figures made from each category. That means there will not be three A-listers, there will be two, max. One army builder will win, and B-lister and villain quantities will depend on which of the winners inspires the best variant, and makes the best pairing with the army-builder. We didn't want to make a fan choice figure impossible (or difficult) to get, so that one-per-case spot is going to be filled by us based on the winners. If it's the villain that gets a variant, then we'll pick two B-listers, and vice-versa.

    - Pretty sure that no matter which character gets chosen in each category, it will be someone a fan wants. Even if casual Marvel fans dogpile on a B-lister or villain, it'll be someone you want. The A-listers are all famous, but they're pretty amazing variations -- in fact, we're revising the A-lister poll to have zero re-dos, and all-new costumes. The army-builders are a mixed bag of requested and obscure, but they're all brand-new.

Hate to sound braggy.....but man, I can't wait to tell my nerd friends that my "database":confused: is helping to make wave 50 minimates.....I feel accomplished....for once.

  3. AVENGERS!!!! Loved it.

On that note already taking about Avengers 2 and which NEW avenger(s) would appear in the sequel:

    SPOILERS BELOW!! IF YOU HAVEN'T

SEEN THE MOVIE DON'T READ ON!!

My thoughts on an Infinity Gauntlet style storyline:

Seeing Wolverine fight alongside Iron Man would rock. Seeing ANY marvel teams together would rock. But yeah alien invasions are one thing. An evil alien that can alter time and space by wearing a glove with magic stones? A bit hard to swallow when you think about it. Plus, you’d (if staying true to the comic, which they wouldn’t ) have to include Adam Warlock and the infinity watch depicting the search for the gems before Thanos got them. Factor in every demi-god, space entity and Galactus as well trying to take it from him. Not happening.

Unless---they go the Green Lantern route.

    Hear me out.

Of all the comic movies I’ve seen- I loved the opening to GL- explaining Oa, the corps, the guardians and the traitor amongst them. Instantly got me excited in a matter of minutes which would have otherwise taken up the first half of the movie or been completely removed and just mentioned in conversation between older members: “It all went south when…..”. I understood parallax, he had motive, he wasn’t just the bad guy who looked creepy and was mean (like the Chitari minions, which after hearing the correct name couldn't get Atari 2600 out of my head.)

IF…….and it’s a BIG IF, Avengers 2 could do something like that in regards to infnity gauntlet it just might work. But it needs more heroes to have that extra punch and threat level. It’s one thing to take down a super team- but multiple teams from one guy? That’s huge. Unfortunately the time between now and A2 ‘s release is unknown, far as I know. Just like how each character was established then brought together is how infinity gauntlet should be handled. Do nods to it here and there in other films, then connect those pieces for the grand reveal.

I’m more interested in seeing who’s the next new member to the team. Thought Wasp would fit both the comic and comic to film slots. Take Janet’s fashion background and work her into doing PR for the Avengers working with Tony Stark and butting heads with Pepper Potts. “Now that you are heroes and in the public eye, you need to capitalize on it. You need me”. Have Stark Industries hire on Hank Pym who hits it off with Janet and by lab accident she becomes the Wasp. But not both Wasp and Giant/Ant Man. “An experimental serum I was working on- Pym Particles was released into your bloodstream….I’m so sorry…..” And as such, Janet having that ego would have to deal with shrinking down to microscopic size becoming ‘small’ in her own right but proving herself as an avenger in battle. So there’s already a nice story arc there if you think about it.

Just my thoughts. Bitch away... :yucky:

Just remember, the Cosmic Cube is pretty damn powerful as well, and they managed to fit it into the movie without mentioning that it makes wishes come true. I think they'll be fine dumbing down the IG.

In regards to the after credits bit...

After credits bits in these Marvel films tend to set up the next film, and isn't there a Guardians film on the way? Perhaps there is no intention of having the Avengers face him. Why not use your biggest film to date to promote one that might, with all due respect, be something of a hard sell?

Might just be me, but I saw the after credits bit of taking a bit of a break. All the other Marvel movies were used to build up the Avengers....Well, you just saw that film...soo.....TIME FOR SHWARMA!

  4. So I'm sure that this was already discussed at some point, but I was talking with my buddy and he had read somewhere that the reason for the lack of Skrulls is due to the fact that the FF reboot holds rights with Fox, and therefore couldn't be used.

    Then I was all like....

  5. Wow, my trip didn't involve random booze giveaways by a Baldwin so Iguess your day might take the cake (which seems to have been Hulk flavored).

I forgot there was a group of four cosplayers at the shop I was at. I overheard my 11 year olds debating whether or not the one boy was dressed as Raven (which they thought was weird) or if he was someone else. There was a really skinny girl dressed as raven with him, so they couldn't figure out why the overweight boy dressed up as Raven also (since there was already a girl one and Raven's not a boy). Ilet them talk about it for awhile before finally breaking it to them that both Raven's were actually girls. It was one of the weirder cosplaying moments I've been around.

Hahahaha, don't worry man, can't be as bad as 40 something crack head joker that shows up randomly every year. I'm starting to think he's like the real deal and he just tries to be nice on FCBD....Because man, this dude is just flat out nuts and awful looking, complete with terrible jokes.

Glad I found this before I posted. Pay no attention to the good looking Star Wars costumes...

  6. I had an awesome FCBD. First time I actually worked one. My shop got so many copies of the Mouse Guard hard cover that Diamond actually called them 3 times to fill orders for shops that missed out (which my shop was awesome enough to help out with). Anyway, it was my job to hand those out since folks were going nuts for em, got mobbed a few times. I then talked folks into buying over 50% of our minimates stock. I went to the back for a quick drink and happened to be back there when Adam Baldwin was walking around to take a break, not one to be star struck or bug celebrities about their stardom, I simply asked how he was doing and he responded with a 20 minute conversation that ended up with him re gifting me a 10 year old bottle of top shelf bourbon that some random ass fan gave him. Over all, I had an awesome time.

  7. Saw it last night. Still trying to remove my jaw from the floor.

Also, didn't realize how loud I said "F#$%ing AMAZING!" when they showed Thanos, some folks grabbed their kids angrily out of the theater in front of us. I thought the cloaked dude was gonna be Big-T and was a little let down, then when I saw that big sweet toothy grin......uuughhhh...

  8. I just picked up all of wave 44. I'm really digging Pym's feet options, but definitely sticking with short Ant Man. I'm more curious about that arrow with Hawkeye, is that a mid air arrow holder?

Nevermind, plastic reflection, just got WAAAY to excited.

  9. I can't say I've read every post about DST Battle Beasts on the Littlerubberguys forum but I've read most & I hadn't noticed the level of venom against Minimates that is implied in the posts here .....maybe I'm wrong.... it sometimes happens.

I only read three negative posts over there before I had enough. They used their three anti-minimate strikes :verymad:

  10. Wow, that forum makes me want to puke. I have never met anyone who is anti minimates in all of my toy collecting conversations. Even those that don't collect them at least think they're cool. A small part of me makes me want DST to ruin the line BB line just to make those dudes all pissy, luckily a larger part of me wants to see these things blow up because man this ram is awesome.

  11. Just wanted to make a pre-emptive Happy FCBD post! In the event folks don't know, this Saturday all most LCS carry a few free books and usually hold an event in celebration of comic awesomeness!

Anyone near the Omaha area come check out Krypton comics, all the free comics this year, artists Aaron Gillespie and Bruce McCorkindale and for all the brown coats Jayne himself Adam Baldwin!

    http://www.kryptoncomicsomaha.com/

Any big events at your LCS's this year?

  12. Anyone try a Mandarin hairpiece for Loki yet?

I did (just now, when you suggested it :P). A little too long, and not quite the same style, but close enough.

Ironman's hair from...i think neo Classic is almost perfect, its a tad short but it looks spot on from the front, at least it did for the first movie...though its not as slick

Try the Domino hair, ears would be off, but nothing paint can't fix.

  13. I'm thinking about opening this....is this a wise decision?

It's worth opening, I think. Unless you need money real bad. Very nice of your local retailer to offer his to you. Hope he didn't charge you a mint.

Need money I do, but this was a gift (no charge btw). I will not be selling it, but I do like my figures to be in their Sunday best. However, since advice came from Zach "The Mack"(???) himself, I will be playing with this immediately.

Also, did these cost anything? Or were they hand outs? Going to feel bad if he actually bought me something there.

Your retailer definitely likes you. But yes, he got it for free. Everyone who attended the Diamond Comics Retailer Summit, which overlapped with C2E2, received a coupon book, and we manufactured a more plain version of the giveaway especially for those retailers, so they could see what we were working on.

Oh wow, thanks for the info man. Well, I did just repair the contacts on the electronics for a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Dragon Zord so he could sell it for $60 more than if it were broken, which is just about what it's going for on ebay...That's right, I'm a toy technician...... <_< .....I need a real job.
