  1. MODOK-pool...need I say more?

    alright, I will...

    Galactipool

    Wolverine-pool

    Deadpool Pulp

so if they were going to do another set like this (I doubt they will but let's pretend) what 4 characters would you like deadpoolfied versions of?

    My picks

    Captain Britain

    Professor X

    Scarlet Witch

    Dazzler (disco version)

  2. Aapje,

You will never know how strong you are until you are forced to become strong.

I am truly sorry for your losses. I understand where you're coming from. Breaking up and having someone you love pass away are two of the most painful things a man can experience. I am amazed and extremely proud that you are still standing tall. I admire and envy your fortitude. The real strength of a man is measured in times of challenges and controversies, not in times of comfort.

I do hope you get back up on your feet and little by little, day by day, you are able to smile again. I guarantee you, you will be whole again.

PM me if you want to chat some more.

  3. You don't know me Joshua, but I know you are valued here in the boards. I get what you say that you do not want to set a bad example to your kids by teaching them not to be materialistic, yet you have thousands of toys. I guess all toy collectors are materialistic.

I do hope that you land back on your feet and everything eventually works itself out and I like to believe that this is not the end. When you're up and running again, toy collecting (sp. minimate collecting) might be an activity that you and your kids find joy in and will provide a bonding opportunity.

    Au revoir!

  4. ^Deathlok.

I agree and apply monkeycrumb's rant to at least the basic members of the team. For Uncanny X-Force, we have it complete with the 4-pack boxset and TRU Fantomex.

But for Phoenix 5, yup, it sucks to know they won't ever be completed. And the team name is Phoenix 5...kinda awkward to just have 3 of them...

  5. Given that everything has been Funkopopized, I wonder when will Vertigo characters follow suit?

Please give us The Endless, Jesse Custer, Cassidy, Swamp Thing, Bigby Wolf, Spider Jerusalem, Constantine, et.al.

  6. I collect both, and I love both.

Hardcovers and TPBs do look great in the shelves but key singles in protective cases or CGC graded comics have aesthetic value when being displayed either by itself or together with an action figure or a statue.

I generally buy only hardcovers as it is more sturdy in the long run. I buy HCs/TPBs even if I have the single issues if I really love the story or if it's key, e.g. Sandman, New X-Men Omnibus (Morrison), We3, Preacher, Wolverine Origin, Dark Phoenix Saga...etc...I plan on completing Y The Last Man HCs as well.

I vote singles for the reason that trades are derivatives of singles. No one would discover the joy of reading a comic story in trade format if no one else bought it in singles before. :)

  7. I don't have any hard time answering this question:

Favorite movie of all-time: Before Sunrise (and of course, I love the whole trilogy which includes Before Sunset and Before Midnight. I haven't yet watched the latter).

This movie is pure genius. It's raw and very emotionally visceral. I mean, how do you say hello when you know you'll say good-bye eventually? I know it sounds a bit corny and trite, but Linklater and the cast Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke managed to translate this concept into the big screen.

I love it when Delpy said in an interview that she can summarize the entire trilogy by saying that Before Sunrise is "What can be", Before Sunset is "What should be" and Before Midnight is "What is".

I cannot recommend this movie enough.

My other favorite movie per genre:

    Action: Face-off

    Comic Book Adaptation: X-Men 2

    Animation: The Lion King

    Humor: Liar Liar

and hellpop, I also love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I love Carrey films. You should check out The Majestic, another masterpiece, IMO. :)

  8. Hi, guys -- jut a quick help? I just got a lot sale of X-Men and I'm trying to form some main teams of the 90's set up. Any figs/versions that I should take note of?

    Thanks!

Congrats on the recent acquisition man!

Here's my take on the 90's X-teams, you can then check if you have it in the lot:

    X-Men

Wolverine (Brown, either TRU Wave 9 or Wave 47 aka Outback X-Men wave)

Iceman (Target Wave blue tinted or Wave 11 either frosted or regular)

    Cyclops (Wave 34 aka 90's X-Men wave)

Psylocke (Wave 28 aka best wave evah)

    Gambit (Wave 28)

    Rogue (Wave 34)

Colossus (Giant-size Boxset or Wave 47, or better you can swap parts between the two)

    Archangel (Wave 19)

    Beast (Wave 34)

    Storm (Wave 29)

    Jean Grey (Wave 34)

    Professor X (Wave 37)

    Bishop (Uncanny X-Men Boxset)

    Jubilee (Uncanny X-Men Boxset)

    Excalibur

    Captain Britain (Wave 31)

    Nightcrawler (Excalibur Boxset)

    Meggan (Excalibur Boxset)

    Shadowcat (Wave 31)

Phoenix Rachel Summers (Wave 33 variant)

    X-Force

    Cable (Wave 32)

    Feral (X-Force Boxset)

Boomer or Boom-boom (TRU Wave 13)

    Domino (X-Force Boxset)

    Shatterstar (TRU Wave 9)

    Warpath (TRU Wave 4, super-rare)

    Cannonball (TRU Wave 9)

    Rictor (TRU Wave 13)

    X-Factor

None, but if you want to use the 80's version, it's the X-Factor Boxset plus Angel (TRU Wave 4)

    Generation X

None, but check out the sick customs in the Group Team thread.

You can check out the pictures at minimatedatabase.com, Hail IVAN!

@JeffBohn, do you mean the gatefold poster inside X-Men 1? Wow, that's cool, and yup, sadly no X-Factor yet to round up the whole X-team.

  9. @Nessex, thereasonsy,

I'll take pics over the weekend and post it here. :)

You're lucky mate to have Rogue and Storm and yup, nowadays, the prices on ebay are just ungodly. I too, am using my ML Mojo and at times, Longshot and Spiral to emulate the X-Babies! :)

You're right on ROML Jean Grey. I think I've seen a prototype before.

I forgot to mention, while there is already a Rogue in the MU line, I have yet to find one. It has not yet reached our shores.

Probably when we all have the money, we can also complete it in Bowen scale, no? :D

  10. The 90's X-Men is the X-Men. Sure, the best stories came in the 80's during Claremont's run (e.g. Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past), but most toy collectors grew up watching the animated series in the 90's. Jim Lee's garish design were quite memorable and over-all, the chemistry and interaction among the members were superb.

Even in other toylines such as Marvel Universe 3.75", Marvel Legends, Superhero Squad...some characters are quite pricey.

Personally, I am forming the X-Men 1 gatefold cover in all affordable scales, and I was first to accomplish this in minimates. I entered a cover recreation contest years back. What I still lack are the following:

Marvel Legends - no Jean Grey yet (I'm just using a custom)

Marvel Universe - there's no Beast yet, but there is one in a very similar line, Superhero Showdown, but the prices in ebay are outrageous (~70$)

Superhero Squad - Rogue, Professor X and Storm are all so expensive

Heroclix - there's no white Storm yet (I'm using the black-costumed one)
