  1. I'm looking for some help tracking down a gift for a friend.

I know next to nothing about Gundam, so I'm here to see if any fellow multiverse people might be able to help.

He builds Gundam models, the impressive super articulated ones that are model kits. He's got this one, mostly white, with grey hands. He's lost a thumb and I'm searching in an attempt to replace it for him.  It's a left thumb, color grey.

I want to say the Gundam was 9 inches tall, with wings that become shields?

Again, they were like looking at really cool (and impressively articulated) hieroglyphics, so I'm sorry this is a vague description.

Any help you could give towards identifying the kit, Gundam name or where to even look for a left grey thumb would be most appreciated.

  2. Well I just got my Luke shipment and had threatened o do this:

Vampire Jubes and Banshee with Booster Collar. Not that happy with Banshee but will just need to figure out the color yellow to match.

From the photo, the yellow looks good. Paint that blue neck bit flesh color (or cut it out) and I think you'll be pleased.

I would not want to run into that Jubes anywhere. She looks like's not messin' around.

  3. Avalanche can't hold the asphalt unless he is wearing Hulk hands, but that isn't how his power works anyway.

They're mainly meant to represent geoshifted debris. Throw them at your X-Men.

    LOL!

  4. I always liked the original idea for Mystique & Destiny with them being lovers and Nightcrawlers parents (Mystique turning into a man for the conception)

    Damn you comics code authority!!!

How would that work, though? Does Raven shapeshift ovaries into testicles? Would the sperm be viable? Or maybe she was born a man, and just shapeshifts into a woman the most?

the way claremont envisioned, and wrote her, was that she could completely replicate another human with her own body mass. when she infiltrated the pentagon as Nick Fury, she had to wear a coat to cover how little of his body she was able to replicate. she could mimic his voice, and match his eyes for bio scans. I'm sure she could manage some testicles with operational DNA carriers.

  5. When I first read the news story and the accompanying comic panels yesterday, my reaction was mixed. The advocate has the full set of panels: http://www.advocate.com/arts-entertainment/geek/2015/04/21/one-original-x-men-comes-out-gay-spoilers

On one hand, I love the inclusion of gay characters, and why not Bobby?

On the other, the writer chose to out him through Jean, in a very invasive way. She outs him. She tells him he is gay--that she knows because she just read his thoughts. In the span of ten panels he accepts it. She reassures him that we (the current society) are more accepting than the one they come from. And suddenly he calls her a "nosey bitch" and he's Jean's token gay BFF. And EVERYTHING is fine.

Clearly this writer knows how to create situations and wrap them up neatly into a nice package. As readers that isn't what we want--we want storytelling, not storyplopping.

My favorite part is he put up an ice-wall because he didn't want to talk to her about it.

It's been a while, but Claremont (whose original run is my favorite) used to build characters by putting them in situations, not by making them the situation, right?

There is an interesting argument to be made for fluid sexuality. Perhaps Bobby was gay as a young man, and is straight in his 30's? It's not unheard of.

It's also possible that this is not 616 Bobby. We have assumed these kids are all the 616 youngsters, but what if this is more like Ultimate Colossus?

Perhaps there were issues regarding repression? Bobby has had serious issues with 'coming out' father to his father as a mutant, and having his father accept him. Maybe being a mutant and gay was too much for him? The conversation that Jean & Bobby share about people not caring here as much as they do where they came from is a pretty relevant argument. What if Iceman *had* grown up in more modern times? Maybe he would have had the freedom to be gay? Can you imagine what it would be like to be a homosexual in the 60's or 70's as a teen where there are no role models, no options and no freedoms, and then suddenly being transplanted to 2015? Being told 'you're ok. you're free to be happy now'? This actually opens up some really interesting ideas for character development & exploring differing social mores.

I don't dig ret-conning. I think it's lazy. There are a few cases of reveals working really well, such as the Shatterstar & Rictor 'outing'. DC's Green Lantern bit felt a little forced.

This is an interesting case, and i'm willing to see where it goes before i break out the pitchforks and torches.

What if teen Bobby coming out is a realization for adult Bobby and he in turn comes out?

Also, is it retconning Iceman's character considering these teens are supposed to be different than their adult counterparts?

  6. I have two of the new Space Armor Iron Man sets and both of my Tony Stark Faces have red on them from the helmet but I am not worried because they will likely always be used for a slipover mask or the like.

Just checked mine, it too has red on the face.

  7. attachicon.gifIMG_3593.JPG

Found them tonight at MD TRU. Nabbed Ronan, Mysterio and Quicksilver packs (absent from the peg shot).

Well, poop. This is my TRU as well. Stopped by tonight and NONE were left. I'm a little surprised they all moved so quickly. Guess I won't be finding these in store....

I had a feeling that if I posted where I found them that they'd quickly get nabbed. I'll message you next time I see them.

  8. The head and hair from an extra daredevil from TRU13 and a Jules from Pulp Fiction two pack providing the body and briefcase used to create "Courtroom Matt Murdoch"

since Daredevil from TRU13 and Wave 43 is the same figure it seemed like a waste to keep both.

    just need a cane.

the JJ Jameson blue suit works really well for that too. And I think I used the cane from the KITT Knight Rider.
