  1. p.s. Watch your back Alpheon... I'm in Portland next week... B)

*forehead slap* Wow, I am such an idiot... :wallbash: Ugh. No point changing my "Location" now, though.

Thank you for pointing that inconsistency out gracefully, TBT! I appreciate it.

Regarding the whole trading issue, if you guys are so skittish about, I'm guessing, having your identity. . .identified(?), then I'm surprised that you post on, or use the internet at all. Aren't you worried that someone could track your IP address and come to get you?

The thought had occurred to me (and, unfortunately, to my parents :P ).

    On topic: uh, cool! Skrulls!

And I like that idea of switching out the Super Skrull's head. I never did like his face either.

  2. I usually don't trade over the internet. Sorry.

Usually? I still find it hard that you post here pretty much every day but do not trust anyone enough to trade with.

    You have issues dude ;)

Oh well its your loss that you are not taking advantage of one of the best resources available to you as a minimate collector, the members here.

    T.

I'm the same way, Trekker. How CAN you trust someone over the internet? You could all be one, huge corporate body for all I know--coercing me into handing over my address so you can hunt me down and sell me into slavery (extreme example, I know). There is, unfortunately, no reason I should believe anything any of your say. Sure, if I got a hold of Carnivore, I could probably get enough information on all of you to validate your stories--but really. As a fifteen-year old kid, I cannot practically trust any of you.

    Sad but true. :(

On topic: I'm more excited about getting the characters themselves over the Skrull sides. And, I suppose, that's where this box set really hits the mark--it's got a that draw for two kinds of people; those who read the latest comics and like them, and those who don't and don't. :P

  3. The soundtrack wasn't that fantastic...

The Steve Jablonsky score on the other hand...

In my opinion a winner all the way *nods*

Well, that's what I was referring to. The score.

And karamazov--didn't at all mean to sound argumentative. :) But it's interesting to hear your opinion--and I can (kind of) see where you're coming from.

  4. --edit: I forgot that I also disliked the story, acting, MUSIC, cinematography and editing...

...you...you didn't like...the music?? I'll admit, I was disappointed at the lack of any allusions/homages to the TF Theme, but besides that, the music was fantastic! Seriously one of the best soundtracks in the history of humankind.

And y'know? They used it for the last Superbowl. :P

  5. Hellspartan and Active Camo CQB are now available to the general public on spawn.com but the supplies are limited. I just ordered mine. Anyone else needing them better hurry and order before they're gone!!

HUGE thanks for the heads-up, minivenom! I would've wanted to commit suicide had I missed this. :)

    What a pitiful existence...

  6. ...I like it less (Scarlet Spider  )...

But...Scarlet Spider didn't have a "mask/helmet (seperate, removable-from-the-head piece)" like Havoc's talking about. Or did you mean the proper definition of the word?

I'd talked to 05 quite a bit about this already (he really does not like them), and he had said he was going to get your opinions--I didn't take him seriously.

A good point that karamazov pointed out is you don't get the incredibly frustrated errors that make the "cut-out" (i.e. both the C3 and DCD Flashes, the C3 Batmans, Cap before the Invaders box set) not match up with the face (Havoc 05's C3 JL Batman's eyes can be seen around where his nose should be :( ), which was no error of the mask itself, but rather the printing of the face on the head.

I like the "helmet" masks. There's so much less margin for error. But I also agree with Havoc, that on some, it makes them look kinda bubble headed. And I think WWII Cap's ears stick out too much.

I LOVED the helmet look on Classic Batman (came with Clayface).

  7. Freakin' cool! But Matt, we DO need pics. Any chance?

I haven't bought a LEGO set since I went to Legoland California five years ago (original Alpha Team--they were so awesome), but if this works as well as you say it does...I see building blocks in my future. :D

  8. I just seem to remember reading here on the boards somewhere that there was some tried-and-true "special code" to be typed at checkout on the AFX store to save something around 10% off your order. I'd really appreciate someone enlightening me, as I can't find the post anymore.

    Thanks very much.

  9. Thanks, guys. I've decided I'll buy the paperback for $11 (new) from Amazon in a shipment of a bunch of other stuff I'm ordering.

The one thing I'd read when comparing the "normal" and Absolute editions that stuck out in my mind is that, apparently, the colors are much, much richer and more clearly defined in the Absolute edition. They're not the dull-ish, comic book ones we're used to. For instance, the blood isn't that weird salmony color--it's actually red. :P

That was the main element I didn't like about the paperback Watchmen, and my one practical incentive to buy the Absolute later on.

  10. Yeah, its definitely not a happy ending. I am curious to see how the general public will like it.

    Unless they... ...change it!?

    Blasphemy. Blasphemy I say! BLASPHEMY!!!!!!

Wow. A convert defending that which he has been comissioned to defend. :) Wasn't it just a week ago that you'd never read Watchmen (or heard of it?) :P

And I agreed. Blasphemy to the highest. I'd like everyone who reads this thread to sign a petition stating that should Zack Snyder decide to change the ending, beginning, middle, early middle, late middle, subplots, symbolism, characters, character names, times, events, conflicts, backstories, hair colors, or dialogue of the story: I have your support in his lynching.

  11. Hey, guys. I'll admit, I have not yet read Watchmen. I've wanted to for years, and idiotically decide to do it as soon as the hype hits home. But, instead of waiting for fifty-two people in front of me to read it at the library, I think I'll buy it. Chances are it's as good as everyone says it is, and when the movie comes out, I'll be happy I bought it.

I'll even go so far as to predict that I'll REALLY like it, and so, have seriously considered paying $85 for the "Absolute" Edition of the book, guessing I'll be happier for it in the future. It's got a buttload of "special features," it's hardcover, with a slipcase, and fairly humongous in size.

Whaddya say? Is it worth it to pay more for "The Most Celebrated Graphic Novel of All Time" in hardcover, ultimate edition awesomeness, and hassle with eBay (it's out of print), hoping I'll become a convert, or should I just go with the simply satisfactory TPB I see on the shelves of Barnes & Noble for $65 less?

I should note that money isn't that huge of an issue. I won't pay more than $85 for the Absolute, but so long as it's worth it to me, I don't really care.

  12. Yeah, I just got back from an F.Y.E., and found the usual Mini's at the back--Spider-Man and Hobgoblin 2-Pack, and the Cylon Exclusive 5-Pack. Not being a huge BSG fan, I didn't take much notice to the price of the latter: $7.88.

So, after traipsing around for about an hour in the store, I decide "What the hey. I don't have the set, $7.88 is a pretty darn good price for 5 minimates, and maybe I can use them for quick customs."

I take them (and the rest of my loot) to the counter, pay, don't count the change, and leave.

After wandering around the mall for a while, trying to decide if I need to keep the merchandise I purchase, and feeling very over-stimulated, I sit down in a quiet place in Barnes and Noble and take a look at my receipt. I suddenly get very excited as I get toward the middle.

    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA CYL 2.95 N

    QTY 1 @7.88

    7.88 - 3.94 50% CLEARANCE

    3.94 - .99 ALL CLEARANCE ITEMS .88 25% OFF

As far as I've deciphered that, I think it means that they were (unmarked) clearance, hence the 50% off, that all clearance items were ninety-nine cents off (inexlicably) and all clearance items ending in ".88" were 25% off.

$2.95. TWO FRICKIN' DOLLARS AND 95 FRICKIN' CENTS for five AWESOME minimates!! I was blown away. So I ran back and bought another one for myself and one for my friend, and counted myself extremely fortunate.

Also, Spider-Man and Hobgoblin were marked down to $3.99--not as freakin' phenominal, but pretty darn good price.

The point of this post being: go check your F.Y.E.'s! They might have done the same thing!

    :D

Coupled with the fact that I got a full set of Star Trek Wave 4, I'm a very, very happy camper.

  13. The other thing was that the nose-piece part of the cowl is actually closed. On many occasions, he sounds like a growly mouth-breather (which is, unfortunately, what he was). Especially at the end of the movie, you see him keeping his mouth open seemingly unnecessarily, but upon seeing it again, I realized he simply can't breathe.
