  1. Hey,

I took the liberty of saving one of your latest images to my desktop, I then had a play around with it in Picasa and PSE. Your camera model isn't too different from mine, it is the bulbs that is causing that yellowness, I know because if i take a shot during night time and have to use artificial light, that is where the colour imbalance comes from, whilst you do get some awesome images from a light box like that, it's one of the reasons i stopped using it altogether.

You might want to try the white paper background setup instead? Something similar to this here> Setup

But make sure you take the shots with lots of natural daylight entering the lense, i've found this to be the best way to get pictures with lots of natural light rather than using bulbs.

If you're going to continue using the light box, i'd suggest clicking your menu button on your camera and changing the white balance mode over to something which softens the yellow and corrects it, i'm not sure which options you have but mine are:

    Flash,

    Incandescent

    Flourescent

    Cloudy

    Daylight

    Auto

And as I said in my post above, if you haven't already tried Picasa i'd recommend it, mostly for the auto colour balance options and the fact you can also alter the highlights and shadows. Whilst you might not get the shots 100% perfect you can adjust it so the yellowness isn't as strong.

  2. Welcome back guys!

So, are we still not going to get Any more Street Fighter Minimates? Is it still a dead horse?

Or are we to see newly made SF characters, smuggled in quietly through the recent MvC3 license?

All those guys that have posted their support for SFII and the possibility of releasing those characters should endeavour to support the latest line of MvC3, it is the only viable way through to get more SF Minimates, it's certainly alot more plausible i'd say than one petition that died 3 years ago. :)

    Who's on board?

^just realised i sounded like Tom Cruises Scientology rant then  lmfao.

    Rich

  3. Absolutely!!

I've actually just finished posting in the MvC3 discussion thread regarding Series 1, 2 & 3 releases, the breakdown of SF Characters and who potentially would be next out on the conveyor belt for Series 4. I would be hoping it is one of the cancelled figures from series 2 or at least a SF character we haven't had yet. :)

It wouldn't have to be SF dominated, just 1 from the 5 would do to keep things ticking over, as I said in my other post, the splaying of characters between each series, is actually good for the longevity of the line.

"I didn't get where I am today by posting the Street Fighter thread"

    -bhm

Completism of the Minimate Street Fighter line is a minefield ....even Ivan gets confused.

    eh?

What do you mean by that? who is Ivan?

From what i've seen on my list i've got them all?

Is there some that aren't listed in the Database or something, or was this a joke that flew waaaay over my head :pinch:

  4. I know you asked for Street Fighter characters, but from Marvel vs Capcom 2, the complete Capcom roster consisted of:

    Akuma (Street Fighter; in MvC3)

    Amingo (created for MvC2)

    Anakaris (Darkstalkers)

    B.B. Hood (Darkstalkers)

    Cammy (Street Fighter)

Captain Commando (Captain Commando; briefly Capcom's mascot) *

    Charlie (Street Fighter)

    Chun-Li (Street Fighter; in MvC3)

    Dan (Street Fighter)

    Dhalsim (Street Fighter)

    Felicia (Darkstalkers; in MvC3)

    Guile (Street Fighter)

    Hayato (Star Gladiator) *

Jill Valentine (Resident Evil; based off her Resi Evil 1 look)

Jin Saotome (Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness) *

    Ken (Street Fighter)

    M. Bison/Vega/Dictator (Street Fighter)

    Mega Man (Mega Man Classic)

    Morrigan (Darkstalkers; in MvC3)

    Roll (Mega Man Classic)

    Ruby Heart (created for MvC2)

    Ryu (Street Fighter; in MvC3)

    Sakura (Street Fighter)

    Servbot (Mega Man Legends)

SonSon (created for MvC2, though supposedly the grand daughter of a character from an obscure character)

    Strider Hiryu (Strider) *

Tron Bonne (Mega Man Legends; in MvC3)

    Zangief (Street Fighter)

I've personally flagged with a star the ones I want the most, mainly because I liked their designs or "mained" them in MvC2.

And if I'm honest, I'd love to see a Street Fighter x Tekken licence come as a derivative of MvC3. The Street Fighter side is made up of a nice mixture of iconic and obscure characters (and if the rumours are anything to go by it could mean I'd finally get a minimate of my "main" Dudley :D), and it would be great to get minimates of Tekken characters, especially Kuma.

Thanks! no it's cool. I think the more people show interest in the MvC3 Minimates the better right? Especially if they support the line by buying them :)

From that list you've given this is a roster for MvC2 not 3? I was referring to the latest game, since i am assuming this is the license that DST are working from? They can't bring anyone in from previous games? or does the license cover previous releases too?

I've split the list up into two series

    Anakaris (Darkstalkers)

    B.B. Hood (Darkstalkers)

    Felicia (Darkstalkers; in MvC3)

    Morrigan (Darkstalkers; in MvC3)

    Akuma (Street Fighter; in MvC3)

    Cammy (Street Fighter)

    Charlie (Street Fighter)

    Chun-Li (Street Fighter; in MvC3)

    Dan (Street Fighter)

    Dhalsim (Street Fighter)

    Guile (Street Fighter)

    Ken (Street Fighter)

    M. Bison(Street Fighter)

    Ryu (Street Fighter; in MvC3)

    Sakura (Street Fighter)

    Zangief (Street Fighter)

Knowing what we know already, Morrigan is already released in Series 1. Crimson-Viper who appeared recently in SF4 has a release in Series 2.

Ryu (Modern) and Chun-Li appears as releases in Series 3 as does Felicia. Akuma appears as part of the TRU releases! :-)

My only surprise here is that Crimson Viper gets a shout ahead of someone like Ken? I mean Ken on Street Fighter 4 had his moves amped up so much he was one of the main characters and not just a sparring partner for Ryu.

I'd gladly take 1 or 2 darkstalkers or other capcom videogame and marvels (even re-releases) as that can be expected to add some 'punch' to the line.. but i'd hope to see one of the non-released characters from the cancelled Series 2. I am not bothered which character it is, as long as it will be one of the following:

Blanka, Dan, Guile, Ken or Zangief.

The current splaying of characters serves well for the line, it adds longevity to the series and the extra marvels or unreleased other capcom characters add variety. I just hope fans see into this and support the line.

    Rich

  5. I really liked this series,

I'd made it my point really to get the player 1 colours and the variant or alternatives, i've not even made that commitment to Marvel, not yet anyway. I'm not a completist but i think i could be with Street Fighter, maybe in time I will be with Marvel and I do realise Marvel is the bigger license of the two.

I was surprised by the failing of this line, given the character selection in Series 1.

    http://www.minimatedatabase.com/series.php?i=28&n=Street+Fighter+II+Minimates+Series+1

Ryu, Akuma, Chun-Li & M.Bison are really strong characters from this series. Admittedly i know nothing of the Darkstalkers line, so the Demitri & Morrigan characters i had to read up on the internet about them, but having read their bios and stories i'm quite taken with them as well.

I'm not just saying this because it is too late and the line is cancelled but looking at the quality of Series 1 and seeing the supposed character list for Series 2..

    Guile & Zangief

    Felicia & John Talbain

    Blanka & Ken

    Blanka & Dan

I'd of been all over this second series. Again i don't know anything about Felicia & John Talbain but i'd of gone out of my way to Support the Street Fighter line, my Sota collection in terms of investment runs into the hundreds and i'll never sell it, so i guess if i'm guilty of being biased about the line maybe thats what it is.

I can only hope that the MvC3 line is supported by videogame enthusiasts and fans as well as those in a similar situation to myself, it is the best shot we have at getting the SF characters into our minimate rosters.

  6. Voting is now closed, or at least any additional votes after my post made will not count.

Thanks to everyone for their input and interest, the final votes show the following:

    Baxter Building: 16 Votes

    Stark Enterprises: 3 Votes

    X-Men Mansion: 6 Votes

I am in the process of designing some of the other features of the Batxer Building and will soon have an update showing the Preliminary plans, most of these will be screen prints from LDD but i'm hoping to show plenty of details too.

  7. Hey,

I think when your customs have finished, use a piece of white paper as your background, and also move a bit further back from the minimate, if you have Macro mode on your camera make sure it is switched on and your camera is well supported (tripod) if you dont have one use a small cd cover or hardback book.

I hope this doesn't come across as critical, but as Bob said above, you have put great effort into your customs and if you could get the pictures clearer we'd be able to see the work and details. My advice i put forward is just some friendly advice so you can get better feedback on these.

  8. Hey,

I'd love the SF mates to return, they sort of have made a comeback, although its more like a toe dipped into the shallow end as they make appearances in MvC  I'm still happy anyway I can get added videogame characters.

I've PM'd you just now, having checked what i have planned it doesn't matter which Ryu's to send, I need 2 figures of him to do the customs i have planned, If you send evil ryu or white costume ryu any of those will work. :)

    Rich

  9. Rich,in your 'Wants' list you've also got 'Ryu'......there are 4 versions soooooooooo which one ?

Ah yes, my apologies for that, I should probably put which colour as it would help  rather than me clog up the thread with our discussion i'll pm you and update my list accordingly, thanks for pointing this out. :)

    Rich

  10. The '1P' and '2P' on the packaging is decorative only. It doesn't refer to the Minimates inside. If you look at all the Street Fighter two packs and box sets, the '1P' is always on the left and '2P' is always on the right. It's just a design choice, not a description.

Ah now I see that clearly you've pointed it out

But do you see why people would be confused by it? considering the colour alternatives in game are known as P1 and P2 colours? Considering it confused me at first and apparently Rob also seems to be confused by it as well. So admittedly my bad here it's not a packaging error in the true definition but it can lead to confusion regarding player colours, as Rob admittedly thought there was only Morrigan in P2. When really she's available in both colours.

I'll be glad when i get them all  I can then just focus on the Marvel Vs Capcom releases

    Rich

  11. Hey,

I just thought i'd revive this thread as I wanted to discuss the Street Fighter II Minimates.

I think there has been a packaging and/or name/costume error with this line, this might be something people are already aware of, but seeing as though i've been hunting the SFII minimates I thought i'd bring it up, first of all most fans of this videogame fighting franchise will be fully aware the characters on the game always have more than 1 costume.

In Ryu's case, he is known for the white Gi he wears, with any other variants or colours being secondary, in this case Evil Ryu is seperate from the P2 colour.

You can see an example of this error here:

    http://www.minimatedatabase.com/pack.php?i=286&n=Ryu+(P2)++Akuma+(P2)

even though the database explains it is Ryu in P2 colours the packaging says Ryu (p1)

another example of this is the Morrigan character, which is quite confusing because when I bought the 2pack with Demitri & Morrigan (P2)

    http://www.minimatedatabase.com/pack.php?i=287&n=Demitri+(P2)++Morrigan+(P2)

I turned my attention to the Player 1 Morrigan, it even lists here as P2 on the packaging again.

    http://www.minimatedatabase.com/pack.php?i=279&n=Demitri++Morrigan

I recently completed some business with my friend Buttheadsmate, in which on my wants list was P1 Morrigan, at some stage during our discussion he mentioned he only knew of P2 colours for Morrigan.

    this is what he said

"I couldn't figure why I didn't send Morrigan last time & now I see why......which of the Morrigans is the one you want? You've asked for P1 yet both the ones I know of are P2 ...maybe I'm wrong so LMK"

Now I know why, it is purely a packaging name error, Player 1 Morrigan should be the turquoise colours with P2 being the pink and black one, although this is highlighted and named correctly on the database it isn't labelled properly on the packaging.

NOTE: i've copied and pasted this and PM'd it to Buttheadsmate just to refresh his memory.

I'm only really highlighting this for completists or people who aren't or haven't been aware of this, i'm quite a big fan of the Street Fighter & Darkstalkers minimates so i obviously wanted to get them all. :)

  12. Dear DST, if you dip into the previous games, I'm begging you to make Blackheart. The end.

    ^ This!

PS: Also - Spiral & Silver Samurai.

Blackheart, Kang, Baron Zemo & Spiral, those definately would be 4 characters i'd be interested in, I do think the MvC license as long as it continues to be successfull will obviously pave the way for more Videogame Characters.

I'm not entirely sure of what the roster selection is like as I don't have the videogame, however I would like to see additional SF characters put in where possible, obviously the Minimate waves are going to reflect popular roster selections of that videogame, Anyone got a list of Street Fighters that appear on the game?

Ryu & Chun Li are a given, they are headline characters really for the SF franchise, and its awesome we'll get Crimson Viper, i'd of just rather of had someone else like Blanka, Ken or Sagat. :)

    Rich

  13. I was going to chime in and explain how you've undersold yourself for your work, but Luke beat me to it, I think anyone who respects the time and effort needed to make a custom, so long as they can't do the custom themselves will be willing to pay good money for them.

I've personally paid out well in the past on custom figures, the desired result obviously is in favour of the buyer in the sense that they are getting a figure they wouldn't normally be able to get at retail or from DST, in some cases you might need to go higher than your originally set price, especially if you're having to track down loose minimate parts to complete the figure before painting.

Indeed, i'd imagine there are alot of factors to take into account before pricing your minimate customs, what i will say is this, communication on a deal, on any deal really between buyer and seller is vital, always make sure they are fully aware of the costs, it then gives them the chance to make a decision on whats best for them, i think you're spot on from the beginning by setting a baseline price for a painted minimate, with the option then of adding additional weapons, accesories or sculpting.

This is a good thread really, probably should be stickied for future customizers. :)

    Rich

  14. A little, although looking at that image and scale it is built to scale for Lego figures? From the buildings i've made you have to count an extra 1.5 bricks height, especially for the windows. I did build a minimate medical centre out of Lego once and even though the size/scale between Lego & Minimates is only 1.5 bricks, when you times that by a few hundred or thousand you can definately add a few 00s to the cost

  15. haha, i wouldnt buy a lego set like that to scale up, it's just not how I do things, when Lego release a set it has to be marketable and cost effective to kids or parents buying them, the dummy floors alone i've made for 2,3 & 4 each cost something between £20-£25 in pieces alone. By the time you've factored in the baseplate and ground floor you'll easily be at 100.00 then you have the more detailed floors that the Fantastic 4 occupy.

This will be an expensive but worthwhile build. :)

    Rich

  16. I just realised looking back at these pictures this morning, the back photograph of packets are different from what I ordered on Luke's toystore?

If this is Wave 2 why does it have Sentinel & Ryu and Nathan Spencer & Taskmaster?

According to Luke's Toystore in Wave 2 we get:

    Spider-Man VS Chris Redfield

    Wolverine VS Viewtiful Joe

    Super Skrull VS Crimson Viper

    Storm VS Jill Valentine

 when did this happen? Also to fwoosheyman did you happen to see which other Minimates were in store from this wave?

    Rich

  17. Nice!!

Thanks so much for sharing these pictures, the only other images i've seen of these are on Luke's ToyStore. Because I already have Wolverine & Spider-Man I am more interested right now in getting the Viewtiful Joe & Chris Redfield figures.

Question: Is Chris Redfields leg pouch attached/glued to his leg or does it slide off?

  18. I thought i'd bump this back up, just incase anyone missed it first time round, theres still about 24 hours or so until i close the poll, maybe some Iron Man fans or X-Men fans haven't voted?

I've left it 10 or so days since the last post, it seems very likely now that the Baxter building will be the next build for me, i have to say i'll be excited to actually start a physical model, in the last week or so I have 3 project folders open in LDD (Lego Digital Designer) the idea was that if the voting was close i'd be able to work on some preliminary ideas while waiting for the voting to end.

When I close the Poll after the 31st i'll share with you some screenprints i've taken, of any preliminary designs of the winning model, i've made a start on somethings with the Baxter Building, and if you're a contact of mine on facebook theres no doubt you've already seen a couple

Because my knowledge of Marvel isn't the best, i'm still learning, so i may have some questions for you guys in the know, especially when it comes to later stages of floor development where the Fantastic Four operate.

I'd like to finish by personally thanking everyone so far for their direct involvement in this project by way of voting and showing enthusiasm for seeing something as awesome as this built.

    Rich
