  1. I don't think so.

DST has the right on the "Battle Beasts" name. This manga is named "Beast Saga".

DST hasn't the right on the rubsign. In the manga every beast has a chest symbol.

So this manga is not an intiative of DST but more likely from a japanese company (Takara ?) which try to test the market.

  2. Anybody here ever go on the Little Rubber Guys forums? Visited the Battle Beasts forums today to say hello. Diverse set of opinions over there.

I'm a long time member of the LRG board under the name Lord. Even if I'm not so more active than some years ago I still check it daily. In fact you can find me in nearly every forum, blog, site, etc related to Battle Beasts :)

  3. Diamond have had he rights for like...3 years? I guess I just feel, if they won't use it, they should let it go.

They were announced at SDCC 09 which Ive just calculated is two years ago . Just saying.

To be exact DST asked for the name during October 2008 and received postive answer during January 2009. They confirm their new acquisition during SDCC '09. So technically they are owner of the name for something beetwen 2 and 3 years.

Now there has been lot of others new figures which have been announced and released during this 2 and more years (MAX line, Halo, Universal Monsters) but BB got nothing show after show. I hoped for more and more news but this is the reverse. We get lesser and lesser news.

  4. I just hope that Luke is correct and that the line is not on a dead end way.

Stickers or anything new that could hide the symbol until you decide to see it. Last wave of Battle Beast in 1988 has a clear orb replacing the sticker. But I'm agree with you. Battle Beasts would be 1 million times better with element symboles than without.

... the highly requested stickers ...

This. All of the rest of those points are vital factors, but if they don't have the stickers, they can't truly be called 'Battle Beasts' ;)

  5. In one of their latest Q&A (February 7) Chuck said about the Battle Beasts :

We have not formally prepared the line and taken it to TRU but yes we are hoping they as well as specialty stores would be interested in taking in the line.

So could we say that this listing is wrong or that DST want to keep the information secret as long as possible ? Maybe Xybot could check the Diamond retailer's site to see if any update has been posted.

  6. I was waiting for this Toy Fair so much. I had hoped that we would have seen plenty of Battle Beasts new sculpts as the release date seems to be 2011. But nothing ! Not even a small gator in a carrying case. Now I'm really worried about the fiuture of the line (BB not Minimates). I even wonder why DST get this trademark. The first appearance of the gator was now more than 1 year ago (July 2009) then all we saw was recolored figures of the same gator. The first product that would come with a BB was cancelled, new style sculpts were shown and already forgotten, etc. I had a lot of hope in DST but now I wonder where all of this will end. If DST finally give up the BB line we are good for more years of nothing as the trademark will still be owned by a company that doesn't care about it. In fact all of this could prevent Hasbro/Takara to try a come back of the original line as they certainly don't want to pay DST to be able to use a name that was theirs some years ago.

DST had a great opportunity with this line but the wait and the lack of news is killing it. Just my 2 cents of course.

  7. Sorry for the quick pics - I haven't had a chance to de-bag him yet, and we're about to crash after getting up at 4:30 for this morning's LEGO event.

No real clue about the Father's Day sets from the pics (my fault for not asking more questions, but DST had an insanely huge amount of stuff to take photos of, and I was busy trying to keep the camera from overheating)...it looks like they'll be special two-packs of some sort featuring a father and child taking part in an activity together. Hard to say exactly what articulation the kid 'mates will have when they're produced, since these ones were extremely prototypey.

    Argh ...

I need this figure. Hope to be able to get one using evilbay.

  8. As a long time BB collector I have to say that I really like the new Minimate Gator figure I have seen so far. I certainly am a minority in the BB collectors group but this group is already a minority. Look at the poll LRG has about the re-release. Just 20 members have entered their vote. This is enough for me to be able to say that a new line with hardcore BB collectors in target is not a good move and will certainly be a failure. So I think that the DST move (Minimated BB) is a very good idea. The Minimates line is still here after years. With this new BB DST's target is bigger than just releasing figures with the old vintage look. Look around the net and you will see plenty of positive feedback after the SDCC. The only complaint that really should bother DST is the lack of secret symbol. I hope they will ear this one and add such a gimmick in the new line. Even a simple one like a sticker on the torso hidden under the armor would be great.

PS: The reaction of the majority at the LRG board is a well known reaction and as a name in the Transformer Universe. They are the BB's GEEWUNNERS
