  1. I'm guessing the "500 cases" was just BHM's order!

I got mine today, only opened the 4 drones so far. I like the er, light beigey one best. The one with the long shoulder gun. Is that Ground? The first Air drone I took out, I managed to pull the rocket launcher off the shoulder (hey, it was loose, and one of the others had removable parts, so I thought it'd be OK!). Also his legs will NOT stay on at the knee joint. So bits of him keep falling off. Bad form!

I have other thoughts but will save them for a proper review.

  2. After a slightly dodgy first opening minutes I really enjoyed it. Matt Smith seems to have a similar manic energy to David Tennant, and the new companion is very hot. A bit cheesecake having her in a WPC uniform though. Not that I ought to complain!

I like the new theme Rad :P

  3. Wasn't sure where to put this, but thought I'd ask here with all you SHS afficionados.

My local Tesco has the Marvel Superhero Squad Avengers Super City in a deal and I wondered how suitable it was for Minimates? I like the idea of having a fold-up playset to use, but if the scale is too wrong then I'll pass.

    Thanks for any help :)

  4. Thanks for the response Luke, and God Magnus :)

I was in my local TRU the other day looking at the frankly ridiculous stuff that Mega Bloks have put out using the IM2 license (Iron Man needs a helicopter? Really??) and was just so depressed that Minimates in this country really never took off.

Sometimes it really sucks being a fan of such a niche product :(

  5. I think a lot of people like seeing the actual Minimates (front and back etc) and obviously people always want to know "what's under the chest piece?" and things like that. But I also like to show them in action, especially if it's a hero vs villain set (my favourite kind of set).

  6. I have been eyeing the Mega Bloks Halo vehicles, they've only just come out in the UK.

The Mega Bloks scale is just slightly smaller than the 2" Minimate. It doesn't make much of a difference to things like the pirate ships etc, but possibly with cockpits and seats for the Halo vehicles they might be too small to comfortably fit a figure. Would like to see pics if anyone has them already.

  7. NR, I haven't actually opened my wave 21 stuff yet (for shame) but on checking Minimate Database (such a fantastic resource, can't praise it enough!), you are absolutely right. It's Mark III Iron Man hairpiece.

BHM, you're talking about the Cap/Red Skull set right? Loved 'em both from the moment I opened them.

How are you guys liking the action shots in these wave 25 reviews? I tried hard with them :)

  8. I have a lot of toys that are still MISB (including Minimates), and that to me (as a non-MISB collector) shows that I couldn't have wanted them too much OR I bought too much at once.

To be honest, it was running Minimates Central all on my own that "forced" completionism on me in the early days. If I didn't have it, I couldn't review it.

  9. I think the Marvel movies ARE different from the blanket Marvel comics license. Chuck has mentioned stuff like Ghost Rider being a separate entity to the comic, and similarly to Spidey 3, when asked about other X-Men movie characters they couldn't do them.

Also, splitting hairs I know, but if they are including Street Fighter 2, then surely Darkstalkers should count also.

To summarise: Toyfare know sod all.

    Minimates have many diverse licenses
