I think the most I spent on a single retail set was the wave... uh, 5 variant, Un-masked Daredevil. He was a Daredevil body with a Matt Murdock head. I paid £15 for the set, as I got caught up on bidding and didn't want to let that one go.

BHM is like an institution
Anyway, welcome to the Multiverse, it's a fun and friendly place to hang out.
-
I wasn't really up for this film, not helped by a hideous trailer that was a crime against story progression and spoilers - seriously, it was a condensed 2 minute version of the film shown in order scene by scene.
But I thought the film itself was really good. Quite slow, not much action for all you Michael Bay explosion fiends, but it was worth making sure the characters got to shine.

I think it's terrible that it stopped being a block figure porn site. Once the Database became respectable, they lost my $$$$$

Welcome Zach, I used to really like ToyFare and I love what you've done with the outdoor pics of Minimates on the DST website.
-
Ivy's looking particularly good, I think.

We are discussing that here:
-
Minimates ARE niche but are gaining momentum thanks to TRU who has invested a lot in the brand in recent years. You can't compare that to Kubricks which are a Japanese import.
I'm sure both Minimates and Marvel Lego can co-exist but like Tim says, if it comes down to a choice in TRU for little Johnny, he'll pick the Lego. And DST are trying to get to little Johnny.
-
Yeah Lego had the license to do sets for the Spider-Man film and its sequel.
I know the minifigures won't match up to their Minimates counterparts but there *is* an inherent charm with the Lego minifig, despite lack of articulation. I am really looking forward to these, but I really hope they are not coming out at the expense of Marvel Minimates.
-
The above articlemakes it clear that there will be Marvel minfigures. I'm guessing the "buildable figures" will be like the Ben 10/Toy Story Construct-a-Buzz sets.
I expect DST and Mega Bloks are crapping in their trousers right about now.
-
I hope this isn't an exclusive arrangement.
-
It's being reported that Lego have the Marvel licence too.
Hopefully it's not an exclusive deal!
-
*sigh* That MAX Firewoman just doesn't look right with all that cleavage but still being so flat. I demand sculpted boobies!
-
Love the Simpsons reference! Top stuff as always
-
It's the usual definition of "exclusive" then!
-
In terms of promoting Minimates on DST's website and social networks, Zach's been in post since May, although I expect he would have joined before then.
-
Zach Oat used to work for ToyFare magazine. He's doing a great job promoting Minimates so far.
-
Looks quite nifty, although as usual, I expect lots and lots of full sets plus box on eBay rather than in fan's hands. Still, it's good for awareness without putting anything out there that would be a completists nightmare.
Sorry, I see it's being discussed here already. A rookie mistake! I'll be handing my Staff badge in now

First time I've seen that pic, and obviously my favourite there is Dagger. "Cut out more of my revealing costume to make a negative image spider-symbol, you say? Sure!"
-
Sadly I can't get "Danny" on every forum I go to
-
You wound me, sir!
Glad everyone else liked them

Hi all,
I guess it's been obvious for many months that I have not been paying much attention to Minimates. Instead I have amassed quite a Lego collection!
I frequent a large Lego forum and have been getting advice and tips on taking photos as part of a Reviewers Academy there. Please take a look at my reviews and let me know what you think
