    1. Game of Thrones
    2. Horror Movie Characters

    3. Star Trek TNG, please just make one more boxset

I'd like to throw Mortal Kombat and MMPR (classic versions) into the mix as well.

I would be in some serious financial issues if they started making Harry Potter or Star Wars Minimates.

You're assuming kids now what "classic TMNT" is. Mega Blok's tried a classic line when they had the license... it didn't exactly leap off the shelves, and it was pretty widely released. Why would minimates at a single retailer do better?

Kids should definitely know what Classic TMNT is.  Go look at any of the clothes in the boys aisle.  A lot of the TMNT cloths are the older style Turtles, not just the newer Nick style.

Toys R Us carried the 6" Classic TMNT figures (both the cartoon and movie versions) as well as the Retro 1980's rereleases, it just seemed like it would've been a good fit.

  4. No, I'm just saying that there continues to be new TMNT merchandise put out on shelves that seems to be selling fairly well while the last two waves of TMNT Minimates haven't done so hot.  TRU clearly hasn't "given up on Minimates in their entirety" if they're still putting out stuff like Watchmen, Dark Tower, NBX, etc.

I still think a classic TMNT wave would've sold better to kids & collectors compared to something like Dark Tower where even hardcore Dark Tower fans might not even pull the trigger on a purchase.

Let's see, the last movie bombed at the box office and the popular cartoon is ending really soon/may already be over. Gosh, wonder why TRU would be cutting back on TMNT product? Must be they hate minimates. Yeah. that's it.

Then how would you explain all of the brand new TMNT stuff still being released?  Recently I've seen new Playmates basic action figures (Samurai wave), the giant 12" figures, the TMNT/WWE figures, and micro TMNT figures and playsets.

Zach, instead of full assortments, could DST try soliciting them as boxsets instead?

Each boxset could have one turtle, one enemy, one supporting character, one Foot soldier.

Yeah, I was hoping maybe box sets could save this line somehow.  Although I wouldn't take a chance on packing the box sets like that.  I would make sure you get the big guns out there first so we're not stuck with incomplete teams.

#1  =  Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael

#2  =  Shredder, Splinter, Casey, April

#3  =  Bebop, Rocksteady, Baxter Stockman, Foot Soldier

And the Nickelodeon show was a very popular show internationally while toys were in stores. Basing our toy line on it made it more appealing to millions of kids around the world. All Nick TMNT merchandise eventually slowed down, not just Minimates, so I'm reluctant to blame the space suits specifically, but then, I don't know how anyone who likes the Turtles WOULDN'T want them in space suits. Unless you ONLY like them when they're in alleys fighting ninjas.

Personally I think Batman and TMNT at their best when they're on the streets versus in space.  I still think those two space waves killed the Nick TMNT Minimates line.  Maybe not so much the actual space suits as much as character selection; making characters like Chrome Dome (almost identical to Bradford) or Bishop (almost identical to Norman) and never getting around to guys like Rat King, Leatherhead, etc.  Playmates also made the Space Turtles, Space April, Space Casey, Fugitoid, Mozar (in addition to Lord Dregg, Robobug and Armaggon) and those seemed to sell just fine.

I can see why they didn't want to order the new stuff when I still see pegs FULL of TRU wave 4 and 5 and that's even after they were clearanced to half off.

  8. I haven't been super excited about Minimates in a long time but I was reallllly looking forward to those classic TMNT waves.  It's baffling to me that lines like Alien Convenant, Watchmen, and Dark Tower can get TRU support but something like a classic TMNT line can't get off the ground.

I still think the TMNT line never recovered after those damn space waves.  It's been a year and you can still find those entire waves rotting on the pegs.
