  1. I'd like to put my name on any list for next year & I'll put my money where my mouth is as soon as the tickets go on sale . Accommodation is the area where 'somebody on the ground' will help me out . I shared a room with Cappy in San Diego some years ago ....we still talk tongue.png

My trip will involve a holiday rather than just the Con so beware of suggesting that you want me to meet your Mom.....or your sister 'back home' whistling.gif

I'll say! This bloke comes swaggering in with his British accent, renewing previous connections with the local birds ... they were calling him! Do NOT let this man meet your female friends and relatives.

    :P

  2. I'm not sure the artist has actually seen a cow (or bull) before. I would have thought that was some kind of cat man if I didn't know it was supposed to be a bovine.

Huh, I see nothing cat like there. The hooves, tail, and head are all bovine in shape. Admittedly he isn't a cow and I wouldn't exactly call him a bull either, not getting into the whole concept of how Battle Beast culture might work, from his build I'd say he looks more like a steer.

Prowlar touched on it (and, sadly, Farm Kid wasn't spot on), but let's make this perfectly clear: that is no cow. He's either a bull or *shudder* a steer. Cows are female

  3. Minimates sure look a whole lot better than those Lego rip-offs. Hasbro should be ashamed of putting out such an inferior product...

Easy, now. Kre-O blocks and the Kreons themselves are actually high-quality toys. Perhaps the best of the Lego competitors out there. You may not appreciate the design style of the minifigs, but a blanket inflammatory statement like that only flaunts ignorance.

Kreons are getting to characters like Worf and Quark before we get minimates. Inconceivable!!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

    heh.

  4. I have literally never seen any of those Thundercats before. Am I right that the later episodes were not shown in the UK? I feel this may have been covered already, apologies if so.

They showed up in the first five episodes of season 2, which were also aired as a TV movie called Thundercats Ho! in the States... I can't remember if the episodes were shown in the UK, but I know you could buy a VHS tape of the movie there because I had one when I was a kid, and I definitely had a Bengali figure too.

    >Fourth box set is still coming. This one is being offered differently, through Previews. I think the Berbil is Bert.

Bert was the blue Berbil from the original toyline, but after some googling it looks like the blue Berbil that appears in the movie was actually Bob, like Slacker said. Any blue Berbil is good with me though!

    Bert vs Bob:

Bert must be the sky blue Berbil with tan/yellow clothing. In the screen cap, he's got his back to the camera. Which means we're receiving Bob in the fifth box set. :D

  5. I'd just like to know what criteria they're using to determine which stores get them and which don't. I asked at the store and the young lady didn't know. I'll try asking a manager the next time because I'm really curious.

I'm interested in that answer too. You sure you weren't being handed a line?

Some of you are now experiencing what I often have in the Marvel line -- I don't care how many sets DST tells us are in the wild, if all three TRUs in my area fail to receive a wave, they instantly become rarities.

And bhm, I'm known as a purist, I do love my blanks and Spider-man the best, but the Battle Beast line has done the same thing Halo did: they've gone so far in the other direction, I see them as little action figures rather than little block figures. So I'm happy with them. heh.

  6. Because Fireball Island rocks. As does Gold Spidey, so those are dollars well spent.

Didn''t mean to offend Hellpop I'm sorry, but I'm glad you liked it. Overall, would you guys be interested in another installment?

LOL man, I'm the same age as you, so I feel you on the old fogies around here.

No one better be feeling the old fogies! -- At least not without permission first.

  7. Character Options started with Dr Who and I suppose it's still their flagship line, but they are certainly exploring other options. Most recently released, I've discovered the Construct-A-Bugz.

    Some overview info here:

    and here:
The bugs themselves are "m'eh" to me, but the buggy little CB characters rock. Gonna need an swarm of them. I suspect the line as a whole may die a quick death, but hopefully they'll release some bug men singles or 5-packs.
  8. Update: I found Peach, but her number was different from what Jeff lists. In fact all the characters had the same number (0512325), BUT Peach was the only one with the first 5 underlined twice. Either way, she is pretty easy to recognize by feeling the bag.

  9. Thanks for the heads-up! Found the full release at my local TRU: bought a couple of boxes and a handful of the solo figures. Who could resist a ninja temple?!

I'v been very satisfied with the Kreon minifigures. They are definitely Lego-compatible in grip size and the brick quality is right there with Lego, well above Mega Bloks.

So, yeah, Jatta Pake, you're learning fast that most of these blind bags have a code somewhere on them that lets the discerning buyer avoid dupes. Even without know what was in each bag, I was able to buy unique numbers. And, of course, had I hit the internet first (as JeffBohn posts), I could have actually sorted through for specific figures (like, say, Kim Arashikage).

I think Lego is about the only one that has made their markings so subtle it's nearly impossible for a normal human to decipher it. And Playmobil, I don't know that there's any kind of code on those bags.

  10. Who's going to be the first to use the snake to make Bushmaster?

    bushmasterss1.jpg

I was just thinking the spiked cuffs from Fear Itself Spider-Man would make excellent weapons for a snakeman. Guess I had Bushmaster in my deep, unrecognized memory!

  11. I've been dying to combine Battle Beasts and Halo. Thanks for the preview, Zach (although you did make me weep tears of jealousy).

Just having some fun with the figures before I send them off to the animator.

    "animator"...???

Yeah, this caught my attention too.
