  1. Well done, Fujis, very well done. I vote we only use Fujis super smileys (aside from the standard yellow set) -- their look is very clean, smiley and still captures the characters. Makes those other superhero smileys look like kaka. I'm very, very impressed.

And I'm pretty sure I have the Timbo pimp smiley archived on another hard drive somewhere. Give me a day to dig it out...

  2. No one mentioned me, I'm hurt gang

Funny thing is, Donster, in the first posts, people were talking to you. You weren't even registered yet and comments were being directed to you. Heh.

Guess we all assumed you would make it here, I for one checked to make sure you had been invited. I'm sad it took you a while and the reasons there of, but glad now that you're here! :D

  3. Well, you are old, Ady.

It maintain the 2-1/2" mates are the best size -- still fairly mini, big enough to get a bit more detail and more compatible with other lines (Kubrick, Palz), and engineered based on the 2" design.

Whether 3" Marvel mates would have sold? Hmm. I believe not. The size would have stuck them in the collector/designer toy category. They never would have been compared to Lego and the closest DST would have gotten to mass market was Tower Records.

  4. Heh. Those caught my attention when they first came out (they were certainly hyped enough). Your recommendation will probably push over the purchasing cliff... thanks Timbo. You're right, they certainly are a step up from the classic Kubrick.

Shanester, was the packing a coffin, or are there little Kubrick-sized coffins in the box?

  5. Yeah, too blocky for my taste. And Cappy, you're Amazing Block Figure Line-Up won't let me drag and drop anything. Nice pics BTW.

The drag-n-drop thing is a Java script, so you have to make sure you have Java scripts enabled in your Internet Explorer options.

And I'm told it only works with IE. Although why Firefox or Opera running Java shouldn't work, I don't, I thought Java was supposed to be universal? I'm just a user, not really a programmer.

  6. Okay, I picked up a couple of Cuboyds and... they're small. I expected them to about Stikfas size, but no, they're much closer 6 cm high.

For further size comparisons, the Amazing Block Figure Line-Up has been updated. ;)

Overall, if you know Stikfas, you now Cuboyds. The plastic and joint quality is the same.

I'm just not sure what the intent of these little guys is. Blind packaged like Kubrick or Qees, they're not artsy enough to be collector toys. They don't strike me as being cute enough to stand on there own.

Seems to me they should be packaged in blister packs and sold as Stikfas accessories.

  7. So minivenom, a local comic store has these in stock, I'm going to buzz out tomorrow (Monday) and buy a couple. Should I pick up an extra one for you? You can take your pick of colors from those that I receive...

  8. (Speaking of which, should we invite Geoff into this new forum?)

Seen as I am IP Banned at his, I vote no.

Ah, once again I missed a falling out. (I do so love living in ignorance! :) )

Don't worry, Ady, I choose you any day!

  9. Hey Shanester! I working the LA finals in 1994, too! Mayhap I even saw you, I know our cameras spent plenty of time panning the Brazilian fans (looking for babes ;) ). Afterwards was pretty much all work for me though. heh

  10. Both BigBadToyStore and YouBuyNow have them listed as "in stock".

TBT, finding decent pics of these has been tough. Even the company website is kind of lame... http://www.cuboyds.com That alone would scare me off if they weren't from an established company.

Going to have to order a couple just to get a decent look-see...

  11. Well this is news to me. Hmmm.

Looks a lot like a Shockini to me. Or the love child of a Shockini and a Stikfa. (Speaking of which, should we invite Geoff into this new forum?) I can only wonder why? What niche do these fill?

I cooled on Stikfas because joint issues seemed to be getting more common. But I suppose I must hunt down a Cuboyd now (my compulsion tells me to)

  12. Although I 'm not a speed racer fan, it's aminimate addiction thing but these are the closest to 'hmmm should/shouldn't I' that I have come with minimates.

I know I'll buy them but how many depends on what I see :)

I laugh at your silly pretensions that you might even consider not buying minimates. Hah! :)

I'm all over this line -- I think the styling is great for block figures (Marvel has been getting too detailed of late). AND I want to send a message that vehicles are a Good Thing (and other accessories). I know, it makes the purchase point higher, etcetera, but it's nice to have some blocky, scaled objects for our little plastic fixes to play with.

  13. I'm watching! Since the U.S. is playing so poorly, I'm rooting for Germany. Although the Swiss defense is sure impressive, and it would be fun to see some one like Tunisia move ahead.

The best part of watching soccer? You know the darn thing is going to last just under two hours! heh

  14. If approached with reason, ad would be okay. Something across the top, and *relevant* is fine. Some places have rotating ads that apply to the board's subject and I've discovered new online resources using that route.

But I never, ever click on pop-ups! :D
