  1. Ambivalence is beginning to fully enshroud me.

I virtually cornered the market on Battle Beast comics to get my retailer exclusive one shot Stealth Vorin which was only available blah diddy blah diddy blah diddy dah ................& SDCC 2013 .

Surely you, of all people, should know the power of the chocolate chip cookie. So what's the more economical route: buy a case of comic books or buy a cookie and a plane ticket to a US convention?

  2. It must be kinda old hat to you guys, but last year i saved my pennies & made the pilgrimage to SDCC with my ex. We spent 3 days eating mexican food, treking about in back-packs, lining up for panels & shopping. It. Was. AWESOME!

I had so much fun. I marveled at the craftsmanship that went into all costumes. I got to ask a question at the Minimated panel. I saw Joss Whedon in a panel. I met Zach at the booth who greeted me warmly & asked what my MMMV name was (i had a flash-back to X2 where Magneto asks Pyro 'What's your *real* name?') AND I got to have a slice of pizza with some of the guys i'd been chatting, including the guy who has sent me every SDCC & TRU exclusive for the past several years.

If i had gone every year for the last decade, i might have been tired of it too, but as a newbie - i really did feel like i'd finally arrived. I can't wait to get there again some day.

Nessex, don't you live in Australia? That's a hell of a trek, I'm duly impressed. But I would beg that the next US con you come to be C2E2 or NYCC. Meet the rest of the inmates and all that. wink.png

I should add, despite my jaded response, that everyone should see SDCC once in their life. But once should do you.

And forget what that English bloke says: I'm a great roommate! He's just mad because I kept putting out my GitD acquisitions which kept him awake.

  3. They always reminded me of Minimate versions of Seventh Kingdom toys.

That's a perfect way to summarize them. I love the Seventh Kingdom, but have no room for figures that size, so MM Battlebeasts are a dream realized.

  4. These are actually Xevoz-compatible. Meaning they are larger than Stikfas and the ball joints snap into Xevoz.

At least, that's what the literature says, I don't actually own any.

  5. I just found Transformers Combiner Kreons at my local TRU. These are boxes that contain 4 of the Mico-Changer Kreons, plus you can combine them into one larger Transformer. Haven't put mine together yet, but it looks pretty cool.

  6. I guess what I don't understand is, why didn't Abrams just create his own outer space adventure shoot-em-up universe? The new stuff, while entertaining in its own right, has at best casual disregard and at worst outright contempt for what came before. Abrams is clearly not interested in building on the old mythos, he wants to blow it up and start over. He just doesn't want to do the heavy lifting of creating a brand from the ground up. He's trying to pirate the existing brand equity of Star Trek, and essentially trick a casually-familiar audience into coming to see something that's really not what he says it is.

This is a great summary of how I feel about what Abrams has approached this. Frankly, he's not a director, he's a producer who directs. It seems like he's more interested in building a money-machine than telling a story.

  7. Those figures have codes printed on the back of the bag, in this case across the top. Even if you don't know who each code signifies, if you buy one of each number you will get all six characters.
