  1. My goodness that is a lot of MCU.  Remember when it was crazy that we'd have two MCU movies a year?

Meanwhile, here's hoping for some 'MCU-inspired' waves for Specialty and mini MCU waves hitting Walgreens.  Also, Fingers crossed for a wild Spider-Verse inspired wave next fall with Morlun, Madam Web, Karn, Spider-Man, Spider-Man, and Spider-Man.  Feels like a layup for DST.

  2. Hey!  There's a sale happening at Walgreens!  Buy one get a second half off.

PLUS they have a toy drive happening (at least they do here in CA).  So I grabbed fate by the ears today and bought a couple of those Kamala/Kangs that have been gumming up the shelves for 17 years and donated them.

Not only does it secure my place on the nice list, but it moves figures off that shelves and potentially into the hands of some budding fan.  If y'all have the resources, I suggest you do the same.

  3. Seems like a missed opportunity for a Deathlok through the Ages box set:  a red-eyed, American flag brandishing Luther Manning, a terrible AoS-inspired Henry Hayes, an energy-clawed X-Force Deathlok Prime, and (the forgotten one) the long-haired sewer dwelling aged Luther Manning.

It would be a super rad set that would haunt shelves for a lifetime.  But I would buy the heck out of it.

  4. In general those McFarlane sets scale really nicely with minimates; it just becomes a question of aesthetics if it works for you.   I tend to like the stuff that's a little more realistic (Like the walking Dead stuff) more than the stylized cartoon-y stuff (Like Steven Universe or some of the R/M stuff), but that's a personal preference.

  5. Ah, I missed the little "more" button. Two things:

1- That Cap shield is wild.  Accurate (I'm assuming), but I do not like.

2- Very much looking forward to the complaints that we won't get 'fill-in-the-blank' key character.  That said, very happy that those of you who wanted this line got it.  Hooray for new sublines!

  6. Man, that is a great custom.

And Nandoninny, I think the move would be to release a Maverick/Team X two pack with heads for both Wolverine and Sabertooth.  Of course, then you would have to buy two mavericks to get the full team, but at least it's a way.  More to the point, I do agree it's weird that we haven't gotten this wolverine variant yet.  Between it, a savage bone-claw wolverine, Fang, and whatever else, DST really needs to get cracking!

  7. Man those look GREAT!  Dare I say, FANTASTIC.

DST has really been knocking it out of the park with these comic waves lately.  Here's hoping 2021 brings more and more.

  8. I could see a Venom-themed Absolute Carnage wave (to tangentially tie into the upcoming movie) .  Which I guess would be like, a Venom, a God Carnage, Knull, The Maker, Scream, and, I dunno, Venomized Miles?

Or, what would be really fun AND tie in with their Marvel Select plans, is an Immortal Hulk wave.  Devil Hulk, Red Harpy, the ghost of Rick Jones, abomination, and the Leader?  Something like that.

Either way, I'm stoked for what it might be!

For the first two movies, I could probably justify 2 4-packs per. I would not buy any merchandise from the 3rd movie because it was such a disappointment. Would love to see Kane / Robocop 2, Emil / Melting Emil, ED-209 (underscale minimate size) among others.

At least the endos work as an army builder.

While I'm with you that Robocop 3 is dreadful, I think there's just enough for one good boxset: Jetpack Robo, Cyber Samurai, The kid (what's her name), and New replacement old man (who's name also escapes me).

The big one I would love to see is a Vandalized Robocop (from part 2) with a kick me sign and a creepy smiling face.  It would make the perfect convention exclusive along side a human Kane or something.

I'm putting good vibes out into the universe.  Let's make it happen, brother.

    PIC!!!

    Yeah dude, here's the assortment:

As you can see, the spell effects scale pretty nicely (I'm gonna use them for a Dr. Strange pic) where as the objects are close enough.  The Dumpster is a tad small, but works well enough and the concrete barrier works for what it needs to be.  Meanwhile, that big tombstone statue might be a little too small for it's own good, but I can still figure something out.

I got'em from Atomic Empire online, but they're all readily available at gaming stores so you got options if you want to dive in.

I bought three. They’re intended for display with my Marvel Legends, but I’m sure I’ll set up some Minimates around them at some point just for giggles. Those things are massive.

Man, with that Master Mold head and a handful of minimate sentinels, you'd have a very epic and pretty scale accurate scene.  Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Does anyone know how well Warhammer 40k stuff scales with minimates? Mostly interested in knowing about the vehicles.

Most of it doesn't because as Augie mentioned, it's too small.  However, I've found that some incidental stuff scales pretty alright - crates, oil drums, the occasional computer console -  so don't totally write the 40k stuff off.  I just bought some Reaper Miniatures spell effects and they look awesome.

  13. Yeah yeah, I know.  And this forum has been pretty down on its namesake brand for longer than a year.  AND AND I know that DST is trying (or so I'm lead to believe), even if they have little success with anything outside the marvel stuff.  That said, I still think it's wild that in a community of dedicated fans no one has noodled about future franchise lines in over a year.  Noodled about non-Marvel adjacent lines, I mean.

Now that I think about it, did those Pacific Rim DFormz ever hit the shelves?  I haven't seen them, but I also haven't really been looking.

  14. Wow!  There's been no discussion about new licenses in over a year.  Wild man.

Anyway, I had a brainwave last night and I need to get it out of me.  I'm shocked that DST didn't go after the Bill and Ted license.  It's fun, colorful, on the verge of a reawakening, and total nostalgia bait.  The perfect thing that could sustain a handful of waves/boxsets like the view Askew stuff did.

Imagine a box set for Excellent Adventure with Bill, Ted, Rufus, and Abe Lincoln. Another with Socrates, Billy The Kid, Ghengis Khan, and Napoleon. [or that collection of characters, but with bill/ted split up].

Bogus Journey would be even more fun with the titular characters, a newer rufus, good robot uses, Death, Station, Dead color drained versions of B/T, Denomolos, etc.  Plenty to work with and plenty to complain about when they inevitably skip Joan of Arc, the Princesses, or Ted's Dad.  I still think it's be pretty fun and reasonably viable, especially now.

Anyway, thanks for coming to my TED talk.
