  1. I seriously question DMX's current relevance both socially and musically. I gathered from some of his answers that he has an apocalyptic view point of the worlds present state. Whether its based upon his interpretation of scripture or just his own experiences in life that have made him paranoid i dont know. I did agree with one point though.

Whatever the case the US culture is very much a "What have you done forme lately?" culture so unless he dropped a hit on par with "Ruff Ryders Anthem" recently that i havent heard of (and admittedly my taste in Hip Hop music generally leans towards Common, Talib and Mos Def) like DMX himself said many times....

    "..it do(es')nt matter..."

On a side note....i cant help but question his mental health. If he did a stretch in Rykers then he may have had some experiences that altered his mind state permanently.

  2. post-638-1202754871_thumb.jpg It's probably just me ,as usual, that finds a GREEN Hulk with the words MEGA CLAP ,beneath the picture ,very funny. What completes it is the ABDOMENINATION chasing him with his surgical ''Steel'' weapon....which is probably the cause of his clap

I thought i was the only one thinking this

    "Mega Clap ('s)" indeed.

He needs to get that checked out.

  3. *Groan*

Thanks Aapje. I didnt KNOW that the new Cap was Bucky but i knew the new cap was bucky.

Oh well...i held out hope that Steve would come back in some way but what can you do. One less comic title to worry about.

  4. You rang ? :buttrock::banana: ^_^

What made you want to make EXE minimates?

If your going to make EXE mates then by all means start with Rockman ! Personally a Rockman with visor down and mouth guard up . That might give him a generic navi / non specific look but it would be bad ass without question.

Then Gutsman (Heat Guts Style!) as his design lends itself well to Minimates (im looking at the Stars and Stripes armored guy , 3 inch mates body and/or add ons from the PVC line. Or..use the fist that come with characters like the Thing).

Id follow up with Sharkman if you want a challenge ( as well as Skullman).

Lastly if your looking to do something that would have broad appeal (outside of the gamers and 'mates fan) Iceman would go over well (along with Woodsman).

Ive planned on making one myself for some time but ultimately decided i wanted a bit more detail than what the standard block body could provide.

Im looking forward to yours! (btw...did you make the Megaman X mate custom here? Excellent work. Id buy those up in a heartbeat if they were mass produced)

*That reminds me...i need to finish watching the series

  5. Siddhartha was a bum, an elitest bum no less. I hated that book with the fire of a thousand suns.

Ive not read the book Omen but im preparing to watch the film in the upcoming weeks. If you dont mind tell me what you didnt like about the book (whether writing style or philosophy behind the narrative)? I am familiar with the story and while ill be coming into the screening with my own bias im still interested in watching it .

Im hoping..lol...that this piece of work will better clarify ...some "things". Ill leave it as vague as that so as not to derail the point of this thread.

Your input would be appreciated though :D

  6. I initially disliked the ST 'mates . This was also the case with the TV show ,which I remember watching for the first time, when it aired here in 1967. Looking back on it , I realise now how fortunate I was to be there right at the very beginning. The show ran here on BBC on Saturday evening ,dislodging Dr.Who in the process. That was the reason I initially disliked it ! Of course in the end I loved it. This was slowly happening in the same way with ST 'mates but now I've seen Uhura I'm hooked again. Uhura ,for many of you I'm sure, was just Kirk's sort-of- cyber-space- secretary. Not for me,I just loved her,she was(is) gorgeous & now she's available to me,at last.

I can't sign this off without emphasising how important that Star Trek 'Kiss' episode was. How far we've come in that 40 years . Just 40 years ago 'Kirk kissing Uhura' was considered a television first, the first interracial kiss on TV. It seems almost unbelievable now but there were massive protests against it, at the time ,in some quarters of the US.The bulk of the feedback to the network however was overwhelmingly positive! Uhura & Kirk actually helped to change a lot of things !

Your absolutely right. Milestones like the above mentioned shouldnt be overlooked or forgotten no matter how long ago or how far some people perceive we have advanced socially. Especially in light of the fact that so many of the United States social advances seem to be taking steps backwards over the last 10 years.

I grew up watching the Next Generation and , for me, that show was life changing in a very subtle way. I was fortunate that i had a TV in my home and was able to catch during my formative years. I can sincerely relate to what "The Kiss" episode and the original show in general meant to my preceding generation.

Oh...and im not a big fan of the ST mates :P

  7. It's like they're stuck between block figures and regular figures, and the result is a bizarrely proportioned, detailed figure. If they would have held back on some of the sculpting, that could have worked, or if they pushed the proportions a little bit more (like a larger head maybe), that could have worked. As it is, they just look like a mistake; the legs are too sort and the chest is too wide.

Thats one of the problem areas i noticed as well...the chest/shoulders. It completely alters what could have been an almost "realistic" figure sculpt (at this scale). The wide shoulders with upper torso with the ball jointed shoulders just make me shake my head in frustration. SO close...yet so far.

The security guard / cop i actually like. Sandman...i dislike more than i like but the lower body has redeeming qualities. The Venom is atrocious in every way.

You mentioned a larger head ? As in attempting to make it more cartoony looking in order to offset the unbalanced proportions?

Before i forget...are these figures marketed as "block figures"? If they are then , yes, they are WAAAAY off the mark but if not..

  8. the joint is held in place with a pin that locks the two halves together. just pry it apart (gently) and it should pop apart and then pop back together when your ready

    Yep :D

Id only add what BannersID said previously...a bit of warmth wouldnt hurt (not enough to make it extremely flexible..just enough to not cause it to snap while pulling/prying).

  9. Thanks for the reply BannersID :D

I came back to this thread to delete as right after posting it i took one apart.

Surprisingly easy and much less fragile than i thought it would be (in fact not fragile at all). The temp in the room is pretty warm though so im sure that helped.

This just made me dig minimates even more. In a perfect world you wouldnt need tools to customize figures lol.

  10. I realize that in most cases (if not all perhaps) there'd be no reason to take apart minimate legs as the body parts are standard with different paint or detail applications but im curious to know if any of you have taken the legs apart at the knee section?

If so did you use the usual boiled water method?

How much give (flexibility) do the legs have ?
