  1. Recently I started reading the spinoff B.P.R.D., which certainly expands on the Hellboy franchise's charm.

That's next on my list, once I get through the main series. Glad to hear it's good, you can never tell with spin-offs...

I loved Lobster Johnsons miniseries. Read it when you get a chance

I didn't know there was one, so cheers, I'll definitely check it out...

If you like Abe and the secondary characters, you should enjoy B.P.R.D. It also features some good solo stories with a really indepth mythology-- I've always adored that about Hellboy.

  2. My girlfriend recently lent me Breathers: A Zombie's Lament by S.G. Browne. Zombie romance? HILARIOUS! It was one of those novels you just can't put down.

As far as comics go, I've been reading DC's 52 and have been enjoying it a lot. I picked it up for Booster Gold mostly, but I found the Steel and Montoya storylines to be as equally entertaining.

On-topic, I've been working my way through Hellboy, it's great. Wasn't really expecting that much since I found the movies just alright, and the animated movies outright boring. The books are much moodier, with some great lines and some great art...

Hellboy is amazing. Recently I started reading the spinoff B.P.R.D., which certainly expands on the Hellboy franchise's charm.

  3. It's a shame that Kayido ended it's contract with previews, because I don't know who/what is ever coming out any more.

Yeah, I was disappointed too. Especially since they went ahead and cancelled orders from the last month the items appeared in Previews. I had to find my Yoko and Gurren Lagann at a convention and online.

For those curious about Starscream: He is amazing! Despite not being able to transform, they really captured his personality well. If you're a big fan of the character, he's an excellent display figure.

  4. I've seen a Figma thread, but no Revoltech. Anyone else collect these? The Figma thread seems to have a lot of activity, so I figured it might be nice to discuss new and old Revoltechs too-- Especially with the recent revival of the line!

For those who don't know: Revoltech are action figures with revolving joints throughout, allowing an amazing amount of articulation and posability.

The lines are mostly populated by popular anime/manga/video game Mecha and Robots in general, but they also have other lines for well-known anime/manga/video game female characters.

I started by collecting the Yotsubato! figures which proved highly amusing for photo ops since she could easily handle accessories from other lines (more specifically DST's Stargate and McFarlane's Halo 3 on my part). I then moved onto Gurren Lagann, Evangelion and Transformers.

Some example pics (forgive me for image quality):

They pose great with my new boxset. :)

  5. Well I gotta say the Director's Cut was utterly superior. That, of course, is in no small part due to the Hollis Mason scene. I have to agree, it was beautiful. One of the best in the movie. And I finally saw Under the Hood and I'll watch Black Freighter later, but I LOVED Under the Hood. It was quite good, felt like a real documentary.

Gotta give this an A. It's a better movie now. And finally getting the TOTBF/UTH DVD made the experience that much better.

Agreed! My girlfriend and I watched both together the other day for the full experience. It's absolutely stunning.

The new bits really add in a lot more. Hollis' scene was amazing!

  6. My work JUST got them in. Took forever. This wave is surprisingly good. I'm not too thrilled with both Iron Mans (Iron Men?), but Cap, Red Skull, Rulk and Skaar are all really cool!

Rulk reminds me of an angry David Boreanaz.

  7. I would still like them to finish up the Ellis thunderbolts with a songbird/swordsman 2pack.

This. I'd rather see the rest of the team completed. I could honestly care less about the newer team, anyways.... Except for maybe Black Widow 2, who would I could see releasing with a battle damage Deadpool if anything. But the newer team hasn't been dynamic enough to really warrant anything just yet.

  8. An Exiles set would be a dream come true for me:

    -Blink

    -Morph

    -Mimic

    -Nocturne

i'd change blink for sunfire as blink might show up in an AOA set

I still think she'd be appropriate in an Exiles set, as she was pretty much their leader for a great deal of the run.

I agree an AoA Sabretooth might be more appropriate than say Mimic or Nocturne, but I wanted to go with founding members (if a fifth option were available, I'd go with Thunderbird, Heather or Starfire). Either way, I'd just love some Exiles Minimates in general.... Unless they're New Exiles. Ew.

  9. An Exiles set would be a dream come true for me:

    -Blink

    -Morph

    -Mimic

    -Nocturne

It's fairly ignored as far as merchendising goes, but it's one of my absolute favourite series and doesn't get much attention.
