  1. What would everyone here do if they're cases/shelves fell of the wall and all the Minimates slammed to the ground? XD

Slap myself for not putting them up properly!

As For Ivans collection: wow that makesme realise exactly how many of these little blighters I have that aren't on display ...

    T.

This actually almost happened to me just last night: my toy shelf experienced an epic bout of minimate dominoes and it took me about an hour diving into dusty old schoolbooks just to rescue Wonder Man's hair (I'm that OC) <_<

If my shelf ever collapsed like that BIG TIME, I'll probably just steal a page from Jatta Pake's book and store my pissed-off minimate legion (and miscellaneous other mini-figures) in a giant plastic tub. Which I will carry around with me everywhere like my own personal footstool

And DAMN Ivan, that minimate display is TALL.

  2. I just thought of something kinda important to note about Marvel Minimate box sets, so I just wanted to confirm something:

Is Wasp the "oneshot" character of this box set? I remembered how DST mentioned before that in almost every box set they'd put in at least one unique character they'd never do in Minimate form again (i.e. Civil War Nitro, Defenders Valkyrie, Secret Invasion Jewel, Invaders Bucky/android Human Torch? which is which?).

Seeing as they already did a Giant Man minimate (zombie) before, and the consensus here is that the zombie Wasp head is only an accessory, would this make Avengers # 1 Wasp the first and last ever official Wasp mate?

  3. *shakes head sadly* Support in this context means technical support. Not 'we're all here for you in your moment of minimate crisis' support.

... regardless of how invaluable a Minimate Support Group would've been for THIS group of folks...

And for future notice, questions like these could be addressed either in the Customs thread (for technical MINIMATE support) or in whatever thread in the Crisis of Infinite Minimates/Marvel forum is buzzing about the problem in question. In the case of Avengers#1 Wasp, there's been plenty of discussion on the pesky wing problem I think in this thread.

  4. As far as Minimate-able bands with visual appeal go (and I know I've said this in another thread), I'd probably go with the Chili Peppers. Between their respective tattoos (have we ever had tattoos on a Minimate before?), Anthony Kiedis's Californication-era bleached-blond hairdo, John Frusciante's long-haired "hippie" look, Chad Smith's sleeveless jumpsuit and Flea's gym socks/undies combo, they wouldn't look half-bad. They could possibly also consider an Abbey Road EP box set with the band's infamous "tube sock" get-ups... or maybe not

Plus with these guys we'd possibly get our SECOND minimate in cargo shorts (after the SDCC Hunt mate).

    Again, wishful thinking.

  5. I have some Strikfas. The dragon w/ chick, samari and firefighter if I'm not mistaken. They tend to stay in their boxes.

Man, I miss Xevoz so much.

I have the dragon too... sometimes I like to pose it eating my SM3 Spiderman minimate. :whistling:

I'd also like to do a comic where an evil Stikfas tries to mind-control all the Minimates by kidnapping the Scarlet Witch and taking away all their faces, and only DCD Wave 8 Question can save the day.

  6. Stikfas really aren't that bad at all (they're my favorite block figure next to Minimates): they're visually pleasing and I love all those accesories they come with. My only issue with them though is the HORRIBLE quality of some of the plastic they use. The almost-instant breakage on the Pirate, Superhero and Supervillain kits are very notorious examples.

If you're planning to buy Stikfas, I suggest you invest in black figures as these seem to be the sturdiest ones of 'em all so far.

Is that really a recurring problem with the pirate? My friend bought one and it smapped like hell. Heck, none of the three I had really stayed together that well now that I think of it...

I'm afraid so... for some reason there was just something about the production of the Pirate Kits that just was not up to par with durability expectations. If you browse the different Stikfas-centered boards/websites out there, you will come across too many owner accounts of Pirate breakage to call it a coincidence. (There was this post on the Hobbicide forums where one fan reviewed most of the existing kits, and another made the funny observation than even in Stikfas form ninjas were far superior to pirates.)

  7. Hopefully the responses to Deadpool were made BEFORE they revealed the designs to us. I'm sure DSTChuck has to keep things under wraps.

A little detective work tells me that the Q&A was posted just on the 17th, while the announcement that the Multiverse will shown the :deadpool: design specs was first made WAY BACK on November 1st. I dunno how old the Q&A questions really are, but things are actually NOT boding well for an accessories-laden Deadpool.

Well, my question was asked way before the contest was announced. It's possible they answered every question as they were sent in and then posted them on the 17th.

    Which question was yours?

In any case, to follow Dio's line of thought I think the big question now is whether the wave26-related questions in the Q&A were answered BEFORE or AFTER November 1st (the first MMMV anouncement of the DP design specs). If they were answered BEFORE the 1st, it means that DST were still settling on the inclusion of DP's accessories and then later went "What the heck? Let's give Deadpool that buttload of accessories", then later release the art to the Multiverse to give fans a positive idea of what to expect with Deadpool.

However, if they in fact answered AFTER the 1st, then that means they were still in the middle of the decision-making process when they released the art to the Multiverse, and sometime before posting the answers on the AA website the powers that be went "Okay, maybe we won't be able to give Deadpool all those accessories after all. Go tell AA."

    Am I making any sense?

  8. Hopefully the responses to Deadpool were made BEFORE they revealed the designs to us. I'm sure DSTChuck has to keep things under wraps.

  9. However, Wolvie is definitely getting a mask! To me, this is great news, as without seeing any of the actual figures yet, I think an updated Wolvie could end up being the sleeper star of these new waves.

Er... I guess I'm gonna reserve judgment until we actually SEE what wave26 Wolvie looks like. So far the upcoming Secret Invasion Wolvie is looking to be the most promising version yet.

  10. Brian Petersen: THANK YOU! These two newly announced Marvel minimate waves sound AWESOME!!! I have some questions, though:

    1) Will Deadpool be packed with the appropriate amount of Accessories? (Two machine guns, two katana, two sai, a pistol, etc.)

    2) Will Psylocke come with a clear purple katana or psiblades that slide over her hands?

    3) Will the skrulls just be regular Skrull grunts or upgrades of the Superskrull minimates?

    4) The image of Captain America shown in the blog is the more modern Bucky version. Will we be seeing this Bucky version or another Steve?

    5) Will Wolverine include a mask?

    6) Will Deadpool’s mask be removable to reveal his beautiful moldy face?

    7) Is there any reason behind the Sabretooth being included with the Skrull, rather than Wolverine?

    8) If the Cap will be the Bucky version, will he come with a pistol too?

DSTChuck: Brian — I think your trying to kill me here…man if your ever going to be at a show PLEASE warn me.

1)He’ll get a fair share but I’m not sure about a FULL arsenal.

2)I think we were thinking Katana

3)Skrull grunts, we already did a super Skrull.

4)We’ve got lots of Cap stuff planned but the one your referring to is Bucky in the new outfit.

    5)Yes

6)I don’t think so. Not right now.

7)We thought the Sabertooth variant would be stronger.

    8)Yes

Okay... should I be worried here? DSTChuck just said that our much-anticipated wave 26 Deadpool might not only NOT come with all the weapons in his design art but might NOT have that full-face mask (and accompanying scarred face underneath) as well. Just how closely should we be following these Q&As in the long run anyway? And does this in any way diminish their previous show of good faith in giving MMMV the DP design art in the first place? What does this mean for everybody else?!

*crawls into a corner until Wave 26 gets released*

  11. Disney films would probably work best as a box set, especially Princess films (Snow White excluded)

I've been wondering how one would package Snow White... to accomodate the Seven Dwarves alone you'd need at least two waves or one huge box set. Plus there's still Snow White, the Prince, the evil Queen (variant: Apple-toting old hag?)...

And that's not even thinking about scale: would the dwarves be 2" and the humans 2.5" or higher? Or do you make the humans normal 2-inchers and just invent a new Minimate Nano body for the dwarves? It'd be the Lord of the Rings fiasco all over again

  12. Okay, so I'm pretty sure there's been at least a few people here who've all wished for Disney mates. Seeing as hypothetical wave-lineup building is practically the national sport of MMMV (DST Minimate Week and the current Bond thread being perfect examples of this), how about we pretend that DST had somehow magically acquired the Disney license and suggest our own dream lineups for Disney movie mates?

I'll start with one of my personal favorites, Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I know this was never a very popular movie even among Disney diehards but this thread is all about wishful thinking. Like a few other Disney films, Atlantis features a distinctive ensemble cast that would look very promising in the Minimate form. For me, an Atlantis wave has GOT to feature something like:

Milo/Kida (variant: clear Kida bonded with Heart of Atlantis)

    Roarke/Helga

    Sweet/Audrey

... and maybe some of the other characters, like Vinny, Mole, Kida's father and those Atlantis soldiers for army-building. Oh, and definitely Whitmore.

I have ideas for other films, but I'm hoping other board members can think of their own wave lineups for these. Any thoughts?
