I cut 'em out of a sheet of felt I bought at Michaels for 29 cents and used a strip of black paper as the band.

I couldn't stand Louis not having ear muffs, so I fixed him (and gave him a haircut while I was at it):
While I was at it, I also decided to give my GB2 Winston Jim Rhodes' hairpiece to make him a bit more movie accurate with his more '90s-ish hairstyle. I might change it back, but I wanted this Winston to have bigger hair than the other version:

I was very happy to see the red stripe cylons and hope that it means some pairings for another wave or something but even if it was just another 5 pack of cylons or something like that I think it would be awesome. They did mention (if I remember correctly) that TRU wanted to have cylons in the two packs because they felt that that is what would sell well.
Looking at their Ghostbusters & Marvel lineups, it would appear packaging good guys with bad guys IS TRU's philosophy about selling Minimates. I've always believed it, and I hope Diamond picks up on it for their regular Minimate lines too.
-
And don't stress out just yet. What with you being in the Western US, I wouldn't expect your stores to see them until next week (of the 7th) or even the one after that. (I'm in the same boat.)
Uh . . . as I pointed out in my earlier post, these have ALREADY landed in Phoenix.

I'm in Phoenix.
Went to 3 TRU looking for them on Tues, hubby's last day off, and they looked at me like I had 3 heads.
Called today (Fri the 4th) and a guy from the back said he thought they might have pulled a box off a truck, but have no idea where it would be now. Said on tomorrow's truck they should get more. (Who knows if he even knows what he's talking about...?)
As was mentioned before...If anyone has ITEM NUMBERS or SKUs they can give (come on, all you guys who picked up a case!) that would help us out enormously when we call around to the clueless TRU people to check on these.
Save the ozone & reduce my financial support of international terrorism by helping me avoid driving all over town...ITEM NUMBERS, GUYS...Please?? (Oh where, oh where is the smiley with the batty eyelashes & the big...)
The Paradise Valley TRU usually puts their new stuff out by Tuesday, I've noticed. That's when I've been able to score minimates these days.

Just picked up the entire 2nd series at my local TRU (except the Peter/Energized Terror Dog which I passed on). Great figures, though I really don't like solid green Slimer, and I really wish Louis came with ear muffs (which I might just customize for him).
RUN OUT AND BUY 'EM!

Are Tory's hands and feet compatible with Mark II War Machine (Rhodes)?
They're close, but Rhodey's a tad darker than Tory, and it's just barely noticable if you put 'em next to each other.

Found all five sets at an Orlando TRU today at lunch. They had at least two of each, I grabbed a set.
Thanks to this post, I rushed to my TRU & got the packs I needed!
I'm a bit disappointed that Tory & Ellen both came barefoot, though. I had to paint a pair of shoes on 'em so they'd be a bit more cival.

However unlikely, i REALLLLLLY hope Louis comes with earmuffs. And yup, in the 2nd film he wore an old GB1 suit that belonged to Egon, name and all.
I'm afraid you guys are mistaken. The suit he donned WAS one of Egon's tan suits, but it had the "2" logo on the arm as well as the different typeface on the name badge, making it a GB2 outfit all the way.
And the pics I've seen of the minimate don't appear to come with ear muffs (but I'm hoping that will change).

Those are pretty great. Let's see s'more already!
-
The Diamond booth at 'con sold out of the 2 pack by Saturday, I believe.
-
Check Amazon, or keep an eye out at BigBadToyStore to see if they get any more in.
-
My Dyson figure's ears are just fine. I think it's just an isolated goof.
-
good point - though the noses really help identify each person, hmmm... I'll have to rework it some more...
That is great work, but I do agree about the noses having to go. I would suggest basing the faces off of the actual Minimate designs as much as possible to keep them consistant & still recognizable. Also, I think the heads need to be a tad bigger. They should be almost as wide as the torso block underneath them.
-
The black minimate with the Ghostbusters logo is the free figure people got when buying Ghostbusters merchandise at the Diamond booth from 'Con.
Diamond also had plenty of the Amazon boxed set, which was the only GB item of theirs that didn't sell out, so they should be available through Previews soon.

Is he handing out anything new, or just old freebies?
-
it actually happen by accident. i was working a 10 hours in a hot kitchen making dinner for 120 people. when i got home i emptied my pockets, and first came egon, then the pack. later i sat down with petter and wondered how hard it is to pull the packs off? not that hard i found, like taking off the PKE meter or peter's walkie talkie
That . . . uh, that doesn't sound like an accident to me.

I managed to print this finally and put it in my display.
I used glossy paper used when printing photos to give it that "oil canvas" shine, and the paper stock is sturdy enough to keep the picture upright.

If we're sharing pics of our Ghostbusters displays, I figure I'll post mine:
The NECA Stay Puft goes GREAT with these guys! And here's a picture with my Vigo "painting" I just added:
-
i think everyone can agree on the Scollari Bros, Janine (seriously, why HAVEN'T they made her yet?), Vigo and slime blower Ray & Winston. But to continue the line, they'd need even more versions of the guys to keep interest in the sets for profit concerns.
So, I'm thinkin' they should have variants of the REAL Ghostbusters. More colorful suits that's proven to be great for toys, and just the right amount of extra '80s nostalgia to keep things fresh. But maybe that's just me?
-
Awesome! Know where I could get a movie accurate frame? XP
I thought about that myself, but it turns out the painting wasn't in a frame (as it was being restored by the museum).
-
where would you find these at like what isle
where would you find these at like what isle
I think it depends on your local TRU.
Mine had the Ghostbusters mates near the T2 and BSG figures (random sci-fi isle along with Hellboy and Watchmen figures), but they keep the Marvel minimates near the Marvel toys section on another isle.
-
Could someone please clarify: Is the box-set available at TRU?
Thanks,
--MaNa
No, the 4 figure box sets are only going to be available at specialty stores & comic shops.

Since they announced the Ghostbusters minimates, I wanted to print-out a Vigo painting to go along with their display, but then realized a "realistic" painting of Vigo wouldn't fit with the minimate figures.
So, I made one of Vigo in minimate form and figured I'd share it for all of you guys in case you were interested.
It's big, but should print at about 6 inches. If you can get it on glossy card stock, it should make a nice accessory for the guys (especially in their GB2 uniforms).
Here's what the final product looks like when printed:

Ah, you found my Ecto-1. I should point out that the decals I used in that pic came from JTGraphics (sorry, I don't have a link available at the moment), since the few stickers the model comes with are pretty awful.
You also may want to hold onto your NECA Stay Puft until you see one of those banks in person. Though they are more movie accurate, the size differance makes the NECA figure a bit more appealing. To each his own of course, just don't give it away too soon in case you change your mind.
Also, I would KILL to have one of those proton packs! I've always wanted to make one, but never knew where to start. Any suggestions?
