  1. If you're looking for a DeLorean for your minimates, get the 1:24 scale car from bttf.com. Sure, you can only (barely) fit them inside from the torso up, but it looks great next to them.

I'm really dredding this line. The choice of super-deformed style they're using is turning off a lot of minimate fans already, and I don't see a lot of new fans or even kids being drawn in by any of these. These 3 vehicles will be warming the TRU pegs along with the miniflyers, and Toys R Us will completely lose interest in carrying anymore product for minimates altogether.

To me, this spells the beginning of the end to Minimates.

  2. Seconded :D Thanks Cappy ol' bean!

Awww, John looks so cute and emo!

The wave 2 T-1000s are all kinds of genius, from the interchangeable metal "stabby" hands to the full-blown copper garb (complete with police baton!), and I still want that battle-damaged Sarah 'mate, never mind if I already have her boxset twin :P

I think the baton is intended for Inmate Sarah, but I guess it works for the T-1000 too.

  3. Great pics, Cowblaster. I picked this one up today, and at the comic shop was wondering why the box was so big. Very cool stuff, though we don't have a wire to go under it (though there is a slot for one) or a pedal for the Minimate Ghostbusters to stomp on to open the trap. I recall that this was shown in the control art pics.

Isn't the pedal you mention the device on Ray's belt?

Yeah, but it's too short for anyone to be standing on it near this huge plume of trap vortex.

If I'm bold enough, I may get the courage to cut the wire off and replace it with a much longer chord for display. But, minimate Ghostbuster traps ARE hard to come by. . . .

  4. Picked up the John Conner/Smoke Gun Arnold set and the Motorcycle cop T-1000/Battle Damaged Sarah yesterday. The Smoke Gun Arnold comes with an entire extra endoskeleton forearm to attach at the elbow (this is the first time I've seen this done -- we usually get either a hand or a whole arm). I almost dismissed it until I realized if you cut the nub off of the elbow joint and make it a right hand instead of a left, then it makes a good accessory for John.

  5. Sounds great! Pics, pics, pics! :D

I was JUST coming by to share!

Here's what it looks like when you take your LED flashlight to the bottom:

    In seconds, you get this:

But my FAVORITE is when you use the clear Slimer 'mate:

Now I need to find a way to light this thing up permanatly for display.

  6. These are now preorders on TRU here. The deal with thing keeps getting stranger and stranger.

That IS strange. I wonder if Diamond will still be shipping any of these to comic book shops or if TRU will get the whole enchalada?

If TRU is picking these up, I'm sure they're making Diamond repackage them so they don't say "Amazon Exclusive" on the box anymore (which they might've been doing anyway).

Could be another cause for the delay(s).

  7. None of the T2 minimates are labeled as TRU Exclusives (as they were originally intended for wider release).

And I'm pretty sure "Old Man" Hawkeye isn't exclusive to TRU either.

Librarian Ghost's hairpiece is from another figure, I just can't place where I've seen it before (I need to check Minimate Database). It may be from one of the Spirit girls. . . .

A lot of you are pointing to entire TRU assortments, but keep in mind these are not TRU EXCLUSIVES unless they are labled as such with the silver sticker. As you know, much of the Marvel wave at TRU is or will be available in specialty stores later on.

  8. The reason Ghostbusters, Hawkeye, and everything else mentioned got new pieces is because they are not EXCLUSIVE to TRU. Even the T2 'mates were also released in specialty stores.

Looking at the Ghostbusters TRU wave, we see nothing original parts-wise. All of the ghost figures were made from recycled parts, such as Washington Square ghost using Terror Dog legs, Slimer's body and Lady Deathstrike's hands. Slimer himself is original, but not a TRU exclusive (with the upcoming AFX 2-pack).

I had forgotten that Spider Woman was originally up to be in the Secret Wars box set, so that could account for the unique hair. But otherwise, there is not one minimate made EXCLUSIVLEY FOR Toys R Us that has a brand new anything. Even the BSG mini-flyers were concieved long before the TRU deal came to be. Yes, you may see new minimates there first with new parts, but only because those figures are also meant to be released through regular vendors.

  9. Wowzers!!! that's fantastic!! Janine AND Walter!!! I loved Janine in that ridiculous green geddup, and i really wanted Walter Peck in my collection, so this set is just fantastic. The Gooey Variants are welcome too; my Egons and Gooey Ray were getting lonely. :P I just wanna add my name to the "needs a Gooey Peter head + hair" add-in.

Now all we need is the essential "Finale" TRU Wave, and the line can die in peace:

    Gooey Egon/Thin Scoleri

    Construction Worker Peter/Fat Scoleri

    Construction Worker Ray/Fat Scoleri

    Dana (with Oscar in carriage)/Vigo

    Construction Worker Egon/Statue of Liberty

All the essential. I was thinking maybe including a Slime-pack Egon instead of Gooey rerelease, but the wave needs the essential rerelease (who's WORTH the money) and the slime pack is too costy to make). The Construction scene was funny and memorable enough, and we get other "needed" characters packed with worthwhile variants, so it's a give-and-take.

And if they can make 4 Stay Pufts, they can make a Lady Liberty. :P

I think it's worth pointing out that all of the TRU exclusives are made almost entirely out of recycled parts, so we're not likely to see any construction workers nor baby carriages out of there any time soon (though they're all very good ideas).
